Breaking from the head spot

This isn’t the NFL. Why is it many that constantly want to tweak rules, essentially making the game into something it’s not, always want to point to other sports to support this lunacy?

The break has been a CONSTANT whine fest since Cory spanked Mika in that US Open final years ago. It has gone as far as alternating breaks at points, which takes away the key aspect of this game, controlling the table. Supporters of that point to tennis.

Bottom line, this isn’t other sports, it’s the cruelest one in its true form, it’s why many of us chose to start to play it. If you don’t like the game, play another one. If you don’t like watching it, watch a different one. As @HawaiianEye said in the second post, you can’t just keep changing the rules.
Nowhere in my original post did I say I don’t like the break rules as is. I hear the common complaints and offered this topic as a thought experiment. I was hoping for more conversation about the cue ball being on the head spot.

New Here? - Introduce Yourself

Hello all!

I'm an old guy who worked in a pool hall and played heavily in the 1990's and early 2000's and then stopped when I got married. I'm just now coming back to it 20 years later. I'm originally from Central Jersey and New York, but now live in Colorado north of Denver.

I'm restarting in the APA to get my feet wet and work with training wheels, but I hope to get back to tournament play. I bought a lower-end Joss to match the feel of my old Joss and Richard Black cues, which I plan to sell to cover some bills.

A lot of my searches lead to results here on the forums, so I figured I would join. This seems to be the place to find answers.

I look forward to chatting with you all.
Matt
I used to play at the Ballroom in Toms River.
But I left Jersey in late '91.
Now in Golden,Co.

My Wife Just Doesn’t Understand

Parties? A party for me is being a good role model for children, going to church, talking about Jesus, pondering God, helping the needy, being part of sincere conversations, a good night at the pool room, and being with and supporting my family and friends. Like the Apostle Paul said, let us live in the light, with sober minds (summarized). For you beginners at religion, what does "live in the light" mean? In a basic sense, it means doing only what you would want anyone and everyone, including God, to see and hear.

We tend to leave politics and religion off this forum.

If want to proselytize you might consider the NPR Forum. I'm sure you can engage in an exciting discussion over there.
