New Here? - Introduce Yourself

Good morning!
Been reading the forums throughout this site for the past month or so, and they've been very inspiring.
I'm not a good player, but I love pool, particularly straight pool. Played a ton during the 90s and early 2000s in NYC at Fat Cats off of Christopher Street, as well as Corner Billiards. I shot in the APA as a very average 6. My one brush with fame was playing the Straight Ball League at Corner when I was matched up with Tony Robles. He needed 300, and I needed 100. I somehow managed to run the last 27 balls for the win.
I moved to Maine, and there was no pool hall nearby, so I quit playing in 2005.
They just opened another pool hall here, and I picked up my cue three months ago. I can't run more than 7 balls in a row, but my goal is to get to 8! :)
Thanks for all of the wonderful info you are bringing here!

Problem with AzBilliards Website Loading Up

I'm beginning to think it might have something to do with my authenticator app. I just reinstalled it a few days ago because it was being messy. I googled cloudfare & authenticator and it says they work together. I can still get to this message board if I leave this browser page open in background but not by going to azbilliards.com.
I think the forum is hosted separately and AZB just links to it. So just bookmark the forum.

The Shot: One decision determines everything else...

I say this now: "if I can SEE the shot, I can make it"
But as you know, saying so and doing so are two different things.
Seeing the shot essentially means understanding what must be done to make the shot.
But doing what must be done is a completely different challenge.

But it is also a rather straight forward task, but only if you know how to accomplish it.
For instance, aligning the cue stick. You need to know how.
And you need to know the criteria that must be met to align the cue stick correctly.
Then you need to confirm that you have indeed met those standards correctly.
And you can't do any of this half ass.

If you pull the trigger thinking that you will make the shot but still miss,
maybe something subtle is going on below the radar. For instance, your eyes have muscles.
And just like any other muscle they can get tired. It starts slow and is hardly noticeable.
You must decide: can I overcome this or should I quit or should I ask for a spot and jack the bet?

By the time I was at the level where I said this I had already hit a million balls.

I already had the fundamentals.

Part of the "seeing" was ensuring all the "basic" stuff was covered before I shot.
