Carbon Break Butt Internal?

Thanks, great information. I have never attempted a CF butt yet but your experience is pretty much what I assumed. I didn't think you could get it to 14-15oz with just heavy foam.

Working on a CF shaft for a Meucci right now. Guy wants me to match his rings on his red dot. I ran out of 3/8-16 all thread so I used a bolt instead. I cut the head off the first one but it turns out the head was about 30% of the total weight of the bolt so I left it on in the final and it got me to my target 3.7oz for the shaft and moved the balance point forward a bit, sitting at about 9". Front 6" is hollow and the rest is filled with compacted cotton balls. Still need to throw the segmented ring together but I think it's going work out fine....

Looks kind of weird but nobody will ever see it! :)

Funny pic/gif thread...

I appreciate your concern about my life blakerandy , but don't you worry , my life has been a grand adventure filled with things most people will never get to experience .
As for a positive attitude even during 7 weeks fighting cancer in a cancer Institute the nurses and Dr's commented that I was one of the most upbeat patients they've ever had and my story was featured on their Facebook website ha ha .

My treatments were done in December of 2017 I can walk in there during working hours and the Dr's and nurses still recognize me and smile ha ha !

As for those who may say hurtful or mean things to me I just smile and respond with those words of wisdom from Captain Jack Sparrow , Sticks and Stones !

Awesome cues. Hate the bumpers.
They do the job though...
Yeah. The middle cue has a simple mushroom bumper, original. That's not so bad. The new one has a simple lower profile, that's not so bad, but could be lower profile, I might get one. (Might have one or two in my bumper box.)

But the old school traditional Dufferin bumpers are like those bug rubber bumper extensions they put on European supercars in the 70's and 80's to meet federal safety standards.

I may just put something else on them. Some people think it's so important it says "Made In Canada" on them. So, I can keep them in case of sale.

They are still available anyway.

Easy to change anyway. No big deal.

The original Dufferin Glider Joint shafts are still available in Canada too. I can't find them in the US. I might pick up a couple just to have new shafts for a couple of these cues.

So, I got the cue. Packaged well, and a surprise.

Cue was bubble wrapped, in a triangle box, which was inside a square box. I had negotiated the shaft out of the deal. When I opened the package, I found the seller had included the shaft! Spectacular! I also got four weight bolts and joint protectors.

So, what is the cue?

Well, I have been on a thing lately attracted to the ebony Dufferin cues and conversions. I thought the cue might go well with these cues in my collection. I will get some pics soon, until then, these are the ones I already had, along with a 58 inch green leaf Dufferin. They are all 5/16x14 pin as is the one I just got.

Here is a crop of one of the seller's pics. Ebony Dufferin conversion with stainless piloted 5/16x14 pin, 0.840 at the joint face, linen wrap, and Delrin butt cap. No butterfly, just jet black ebony. All the work seems perfectly done. Cue is pristine.

Honestly, I was having one converted, this is exactly what I would have done, right down to the joint diameter and short wrap. It's perfect.

Maybe, someday, put a black leather wrap on it. Who knows?

These things are serious players, really, and that ebony resonance just feels so sweet. And with a standard joint type, I might even grab a CF shaft to try with them.

I will get my own pics of it probably this weekend, including with the cue's new siblings.

Perhaps You May Be Able To Recommend or Possibly Help Me?

They are probably going to 'half bake' it. Instead of baking the entire thing and sucking the life out of it.

Similar to browning a piece of steak after the sous vide.

That's the only way I can think of for them to 'keep the weight'.

Now we're talking about shaft cooking and I am not familiar with the process.
Dunno about that…..what I know is the cue maker said he’s done it before and it is not that hard to do.

You have to select the right type of wood, weigh the blanks individually, categorize by cue weight range,
and maintain tight control over the torrification process. He has many hundreds of Kielwood blanks to
choose from and has built KW shafts over 4 ozs. before whereas others haven’t or don’t think it’s doable.

I happen to wholeheartedly concur with the cue maker and it was uplifting to hear that this isn’t just a mere
attempt and let’s see how close it turns out. Nope, this was more of anything else you want besides weight?
It was entirely a can do discussion instead of let’s see how it turns out or weight can be added around the collar.
The cue maker said everything was dependent on the wood selected and it was easy if you have the right wood.

Don’t misconstrue my comments to be brash, presumptuous, pontificating or anything other than I’m just passing
along, sort of sharing, news and developments on my thread pursuing a certain type of a Kielwood shaft. Hopefully,
others find this of some interest or are curious but I am learning along the way as are some readers of my posts.
