Gold Rush John Davis Blank Titelst Colors

For sale is a John Davis blank finished by Kevin at Gold Rush. Absolutely beautiful classic styled cue. Bought from Eddie at Cross Roads (his description is below).

Two shafts with matching rings. The smaller one has seen lots of play but in good shape. The bigger one is relatively unused but has a dent. I never really used the shafts and only played with the McDermott Ipro shaft included ($500 value) in the sale that I added. The butt and Ipro shaft are in great condition. White with green linen wrap is tight. Really beautiful old school styled cue for those that love the full splice. Ipro shaft adds the carbon tech. Best of both worlds. Whats not to love?

While watching, yet again, another broadcast tv movie rerun, I noticed in the final straight pool ‘rematch’ scene (after Fats breaks and leaves Eddie corner hooked), the bank/carom shot Mosconi set up was virtually un-missable! All Paul had to do was hit the pack anyplace, as the placement of balls was such that any would drive to the final called/dead carom. Although, like usually happens to me, he was then left buried and frozen in the pack, with no obvious/possible following shot 😁.

earl can still shoot good. very good. but started the match refusing to sit in his alotted chair. then the shot clock almost got him twice when he was arguing with the crowd. at one point he just stood like a madman with his hands as binoculars staring into the crowd. as usual it was more cringe than entertaining. think it ended 10-6 but had he been right in the head he could have won. he had plenty of chances that he could have converted if he was in a better state of mind

"Playing the 9" tells your opponent what you are intending to do and if it works you look that much better for calling the shot!!

Calling the 9 is a rule used in NAPA 9-Ball and 9-Ball Pro.

My main intention with calling the 9 in APA is to get away from the "bang and pray" slop type of shot that would possibly win a game.

What if its not bang and pray though? We have all seen professionals accidentally make the 9 when another moving ball pockets it.

Pool is not difficult except when you first start learning the game when it seems complicated and confusing. But
aside from someone new to the game, taking more time than 30-40 seconds per shot is just absurdly long.

You can be removed from a golf course for slow play. It is expected and required to not dawdle, reframing from taking
too long on your next shot and be prepared to play when it is your turn without delay. Pool should be played the same.

If you don’t want to see that in socially competitive leagues, fine. And you’ll know that when you sign up to join. But in
tournaments, a faster pace of play should be enforced and only a shot clock will cause that to take place with players.

I hate slow players as much as anyone but its real easy to chew up 30 seconds on shots, especially non rotation pool. By the time you decide which ball to shoot, maybe walk halfway around the table and back to check for desired position, then get down on a shot and it doesn't feel right and stand back up suddenly you bumping up against that 30 seconds. On the other hand there is absolutely no reason to stand at the table staring at the balls for 45 seconds like a statue. I once timed someone who took 3 minutes between shots, there is no justifiable excuse in the world for that.
