Well, now I've went and done it.

I've got some Tomahawk coming as it had great recommendations also, and it was the 1st material I found when ordering. Have to say, even though I ordered on the weekend, I called the 1st thing this morning to try and add another rod to my order and it had already been put in the mail. They are a 1st class operation for sure, great service. Now I just have to wait for the epoxy as the stuff I had I didn't like as it took forever, days, to cure. While I'm never in much of a hurry, I would like to be able to work it the next day.

Pretty much all epoxy is fully cured after 72hrs. The 5-min, 1-hour, 24-hour ratings are based on a percentage of full strength. If the epoxy was still liquid or very pliable after days, it is either bad or you didn't mix properly (ratio or not actually stirring enough).

Custom and High End Cues on the Decline?

I finally decided these are my favorite 3 cues to play with using 3rd party Kielwood shafts I bought.
And one of these cues just plays a notch above the other two, both of which are really nice to use.

However, if I only play using the orig. maple shafts, only the Scruggs remains in both top 3 groups.
What amazed me is how KW shafts really do play better than the same weight original maple shafts.

The other 3 cues in my case (6x12) have the same threads as the cues in the photo so I can pull one
any time and play with a Kielwood shaft. Screw CF….I’ve always played wood shafts & KW is great.

p.s. I think custom cues will endure over time and at least retain orig. value rather drop like other cues.

Rhino MUST

Yeah, I'm done with Rhino as well.
If composites are the future (which it is) than decals are part of that future as I don't think you can do point and inlays into carbon fiber.
I thought about getting a full CF cue to throw in the car, but after thinking more clearly about it, I don't really need a cue in my car...
I am done with Rhino not neccesarly because of the decals or performance, my Rhino plays beautifully, but because of issues with customer service. Like I said on a previous post, I have dealt with Schmelke on some custom cues. If there was anything that was not to my satisfaction, David would either send me a label immediately to return the product and correct the issue, or sent me a label and issued a refund on the spot if he could not do what I wanted. In my case with Rhino, I am trying to get them to replace a wobbly Must shaft, and it has proven difficult. It feels I have to convince them that I am telling the truth; they do not seem to believe they actually made a shaft that is out of spec in one way or another. Heck, I am not even asking for a refund, as I do like their products, just a replacement so I can move on. More on that to follow here in the next few days as the wobbly shaft saga unfolds and folks can come to their own conclusions and use my experiences with the company to decide if they want to deal with them or not.

I believe Becue made around 20 cues, supposedly the "first inlaid carbon fiber cues" and they carried a pretty big price premium. Maybe in the future some sort of technology will allow complete carbon fiber cues to be decorated in a more traditional manner, while being a bit more economical.

Pretty cue for sure.

107 Breaks & 6 Chances

After the afternoon football games today I went downstairs and got the laundry started. So I then started to break some racks of 9B. I hadn't played in three days, sort of took a break from all the horrible rolls and spreads. The first five breaks - nothing - no chance. So I said to myself one more break and if there's no chance I am throwing in the towel today. This is what I got:

I just about threw the break cue. So I tell myself one more time. And I end up with this:

I threw the break cue down on the table, shut the light off, and came upstairs.

20+ years of the same old stuff. It just never ends.

p.s. before anybody says anything, yes, there were other balls on the table. I am just showing the position of the CB and 1B.
I noticed the CB is nowhere near center table on those breaks.
Try nothing but hitting squarely enough to keep whitey in the middle.

Like I have mentioned previously, you have to control the cue ball, you will have a much better chance of having a shot if the cue ball is in the middle of the table.

Custom and High End Cues on the Decline?

Hello Rackaday , my Mike Gulyassy cue isn't fancy it has a black linen wrap that is like what he put on some of his sledgehammer cues , the tips on both shafts are G2 medium tips with a dime arc .
My cell phone camera is awful for taking close up pictures of cues , I've tried quite a few times and it just doesn't work out to my satisfaction , which if I'm not happy with them I'm sure no one else would be either .
As for carbon fiber shafts , I had a JP cue with a maple shaft and a rouge 12.4 shaft , yes it hit a ball very well I just didn't care for it !
I maybe just go old fashioned and prefer wood over carbon .

If someone else likes carbon better then good for them , to me it's a Ford , Chevy Dodge or which girl is prettiest ha ha we have to go with what is right for us and go from there .
Back to my Gulyassy cue there is a learning curve to it at times I'm a slow learner but I'm very comfortable playing with it now much to the dismay of many I play against at league games .

I've got a couple other fine pool cues one was a gift from a old friend who can no longer play it hits a ball very well however it lacks something when I play with it maybe a tip replacement would do the trick but then I like a 13 mm shaft or larger .

Rhino MUST

I agree. But considering that the cues are made completely out of composites, except for the joint pins, inlaid points and other decorations would add a substantial premium to the price and would defeat the purpose of supplying cues to folks that can't afford a higher end cue. I am fine with the decals or raw carbon fiber look.

I am willing to pay for veneered points, decorations, etc, but not from Rhino.
