The graph shows that a rolling cue ball produces follow at near full-ball hits which is nothing new. What is interesting is how it also produces follow at really thin shots (and explains some of my scratching for very thin shots near pockets).see beginners try to use the 30-degree rule on many shots where it doesn't apply because they pay no attention to the very important details. A half-ball hit with a rolling cue ball does not give a 30-degree follow angle.
RIP - Mr. Enslow. Many of the OGs might have known Bob. He was a great supporter of pool and live streaming of it. When I was one of the only guys doing it Bob offered his support and helped tremendously. He also helped many others even financially. Thanks for your contribution to the game. Rest easy buddy.
please pm me. i might be interested. thanks -rrYeah I really have no idea, that's just what he said with the 3 shafts, many many years ago. He passed away last December at 89 so he had to have had them made late 80's? His Brunswick tournament table in the garage (carom table) is signed by the felt guy in 1982 . Unfortunately I couldn't get into 3 ball carom..too complicated. I'm just trying to get an idea of the value chat get says Ron Kirby in its condition, 3 shafts probably 5-700. I'm going 5o post it in the 4 sales section soon
Just when you are mentioning cushions for position reminded me one extra thing I'd say to learners. If you come of a cushion at a shallow angle, then side wont have much of a chance to take effect. If you are coming off a cushion at a narrow angle for a 1 cushion escape from a snooker you have more chance of changing the ball direction with top or draw. When they are using the cushions for position--after speed, and maybe also using follow/draw to affect the tangent line deviation.
However, I mostly agree, because I don't think most 'beginners' have any idea what the sidespin is for. Like, they think it helps them pot balls--and I do realize that for some shots it can--but because they don't already understand positioning with speed, and/or controlling the cue ball with top/bottom, they don't realize that hitting side doesn't really do anything for them. More to the point, they don't know what it *should* do for them.
