Higher skill pocket billiards players - 9 ball or snooker players?

I don't play snooker often, but the last time I played I tried one of those length of the table pots screwing into baulk, potted the ball, but my attempt to screw back in actuality ended up being a perfect stop shot. You are hitting the ball such a long distance it's hard as an amateur to not lose all your backspin to the friction of the cloth.

I was thinking of the guy from the Break from Life YouTube channel.

Parts to convert Gold Crown 5 to ball return

They are all like that. They came in 2 or 3 finishes, I forget the exact number. The finish in that picture was probably the most popular.

I've seen very few 5's in the wild, because by the time they were released, most of the commercial rooms were already buying Diamonds.

I've only seen 6's in the wild in one room, and that was in Greece no less. I don't think I've ever seen one in the states with my own eyes.
Lost my love my after the 4. Brunswick should have keep the same design (1-4) in different woods. The GC1-4 is modern art.

Predator Shaft Query

Bare minimum means ensure it's flat, not untouched. Seems like you're kind of pissing on people that are trying to be helpful.
No Sir -
I’m good with the help that was given. We got through to what mattered. The cue tech was sloppy and had the resources. He did not need my input in order to do his job. It’s ridiculous asking me whether I wanted to cut my arm off.
To me it’s poor service, and the thread comments concur.

For some reason I did not like the look of the 5. Thought Brunswick killed tradition...... But that particular 5 is a beautiful table.

9 Ball Roll Out Situation

It's confusing to me, but the WPA rules are written as such to seeming allow this.

Where is it written that allows this?

You said that and then I posted the WPA rules that indicate it's a foul. If there is a rule that I missed that allows this please post it because I didn't see it.

Just because one ref said it's not a foul doesn't mean he's correct, people make errors.

9 Ball Roll Out Situation

nope, perfectly not legal. that's why you have to spot/owe a ball after doing so
not in poolrooms of the past. if cue ball went in or off as well it was a foul. but if you knocked just an object ball off the table it got spotted.
either then if your inning was over or after if it wasn't and you made another ball on that shot.

it was perfectly legal to shoot and knock any balls or ball off the table if needed. often shot the ball in his hole and sent the cue ball flying, so both got spotted.

standard shot when both need one and he had it in front of his hole.

9 Ball Roll Out Situation

how does it come up in a rotation game where you can drive an object ball off the table and it now is the right shot and you can do it.
I break, make a ball I call push out but my push out choice is this.
I bank the 9 ball off table for it to be respotted, now it's incoming players turn.
its not a legal shot. jumping a ball, any ball, off the table is a foul in any pool game. maybe some chickenshit biker bar allows it but not real pool.
I thought so zar, but Tom (50 yrs refereeing) also said this in conjunction with my question.
On the Break, if the 8 ball goes off table it's not loss of game.

maha.
Picture this.
Two balls are tied up on the foot spot.
You broke/made a ball have a clear shot at the 9 and call roll out.
Instead, your roll out choice is to bank/ launch the 9 off table for it to respot behind the foot spot ball cluster.

It's confusing to me, but the WPA rules are written as such to seeming allow this.
Sounds like a shot Efren would pull off.

I'd like to hear Jewetts viewpoint on this matter.
Also, 50 yrs reffing 8 ball off table Toms said he' never seen that happen but I'm sure it will, someday somewhere.

Amazon perimeter style light

Sure dude, you can win whatever argument you are trying to have. My original post was a response to someone considering buying a light. The same light I had sitting in a box under my table at the time. I was annoyed with that light so I relayed my experience with that in case he was still thinking of purchasing the light.
Nothing wrong with that. I didn't comment on that post.
Just because you are too slow to understand the boat reference, I will help you. See, you can fish with a boat or without one. You can play pool with a billiard light or without one.
I can be slow, especially when someone uses so many big words, but I never advocated for playing without lights. I was just commenting on the move towards brighter and brighter lighting. At some point, what is gained?
Your opinion that more light does not help play, is just that, your opinion.
Is it? Or is it common sense that there are diminishing returns?
You jumped in to a discussion to share you didn't need or want what was being discussed.
Guilty as charged. So what? I think it's an interesting subject.
Someone craves attention.
Just conversing.

Parts to convert Gold Crown 5 to ball return

You need a lot of parts to make that conversion. It won't be cost effective.

Plus, the ball box on the GC5 is the worst one ever made. On the 1,2,3,4, it was the same width. On the 5, it became about as wide as the entire width of the table. When you stick your hands in there to grab the balls, they are all over the place, far in the corners of the box. It doesn't sound like a big deal, but you notice it the first time and every time you stick your hands in there.

The GC5 was always my favorite look from all of them, and one I wanted to buy, until I played on one with a ball return.

one pocket strategy question

I play one pocket every Saturday with the same guy and usually we break even or one of us is up a game or two.
My Fargo is 576 his is 554 so we are pretty close.
The only advantage he has is that he banks a little better than me and I try not to leave an easy bank or if no choice I try to leave it off angle a bit.
I have tried two different strategy's I play very aggressive or very conservative and neither seems to gain the upper hand.
Suggestions?
It's never too late to obtain more knowledge about the game. Cue ball control, kicking, banking, pocketing etc. The more you know and can put to work on the table will give you the advantage over your current opponent.

New forum notes

Is linking to a facebook marketplace listing acceptable? This would be in addition to the requirements for the standard for sale ad. I ask because I have a video of the cue I want to sell rolling there.

If not the listing directly, would it be ok to link the video from facebook?
I don't see any problem with that. Just remember to mark the cue as "sold" over here, if you sell it on Facebook.

Parts to convert Gold Crown 5 to ball return

What is it about your drop pockets that you don't like? I've owned a few dozen gold crowns with ball returns and almost without exception switch them all to drop pockets. Ball returns a lot of times are trouble. Balls hang up people drop chalk in the pocket they're noisy particularly in a room when you got about 15 of these tables going at one time. Keep your drop pockets or maybe you can replace them with a nicer drop pocket that's quieter and maybe holds more balls I don't know what's out there but I wouldn't go to the trouble to try and do that change. Way more trouble then it's worth.
I have GC4...gave a lot of thought to swapping the ball return to drop pockets. Tired of bending over. I like drops for 1p.
