SJM at the Las Vegas Open

Keith was a freak at age 12, getting in games with top players. They would give him the eight ball and he would give them fits. By age 14 he was their equal and at 16 no one wanted any part of him! Never seen another one quite like him in my lifetime, and I saw many great young players.

Keith never showed any nerves at 12, 14, 16 or at any age! I think he saw that quality in Filler too. I've always said that what separates the great players from the rest is how they handle pressure. Keith was bullet proof!
Mizerak used to say of young world-beaters that "they were too young to know about pressure." That always cracked me up! I was present when Steve said it of the eighteen-year-old Oliver Ortmann. Keith, Josh, Fedor and Oliver were already stone-cold killers in their teens.

BK Rush tip

My BK Rush needs a new tip and just not sure if I want to replace it with the original one but instead maybe try something different this time. Thoughts or suggestions? What tip is Filler using on his new purple BK as it appears to be somewhat whiteish in color? It doesn't appear to be the stock tip. Thanks.

Classic Cue Market Dying Off

I have always enjoyed the history of pool cues and of course the artistic side of it from the great craftsman. I have been looking at the cue market and prices lately. It seems like its either flat or dropped off a bit. I am guessing its because the newer players dont have the interest in collecting or playing with vintage cues. I also am guessing most of the generation of great cue collectors is aging out sadly. Hopefully some of the younger collectors if they exist will keep it going.

This kind of happens with the classic car market at times with values hitting a peak and dipping off with the generation that had interest. All of a sudden some cars will double in value as that generation wants to obtain those cars they grew up with. I think if you asked many players at a big league event if they ever heard of Szamboti or Paradise they would have no clue who you were talking about. Has anyone else noticed this?

Antique market did the same thing. Stuff is cheap now compared to 40 yrs. ago.

One day things will change.

Lowest deflection kielwood

Having been through low deflection shaft and kielwood shafts I don't know why anyone would want anything other than
regular maple. This is because with regular maple the amount of allowance needed is enough for you to know what is needed.
When you get to very slight amounts needed and you're playing with something as stiff as a nail, figuring out what to do on a regular
basis gets harder not easier.
