This forum has a tournament announcement section. You should try using it sometime. Others have been heavily chastised for making one tourney post in the main forum, yet DP makes all theirs here. Another example of how DP thinks they're special.

I enjoy the news they provide because its uplifting to know there are still events and new events coming our from a reputable source.
With all the bad events and news, cancellations etc, it seems Dragon are the only ones who are consistent with no canceled events and controversies over finances.

Expanding into Philippines is great news, along with their events in Korea,India,USA!
I'd recommend to say more supporting words to good promoters like Mike Zuglan, Matchroom, etc

No matter what their critics say, you cant deny that Dragon Promotions might be the most powerful pool entity in the billiard world

I didn't suggest the posts not be made at all. I suggested that they be made in the correct forum.

Not too long ago Mike Janis went overboard (on a lot of things) and one of those things was constant tournament announcements here in the main forum. People got upset & he was told to post tournaments in the tournament forum. People complained about TAR posting their challenge matches & tournament streams here in the main forum so they were told not to do so. Just recently there was a big to do about threads concerning a well known pro player being in the hospital that were moved to the NPR section. My point is, DP does the same thing Mike Janis & TAR did but they think it's ok for them to do it.

As for critics of DP, yes I am one of them. I know all too well what they've done to other tournaments and tournament promoters in the past to get where they are today. It's called "strong arm tactics" and it was/is practiced on everyone from the players themselves to the tournament promoters to the venues and it's not a practice that I look highly upon.

My personal thoughts on DP aside, why is it ok for them to continue to post their announcements here but others (who contribute more to this forum by being active members) have to post their info elsewhere on the forum?

Invited or not-I cant imagine too many Americans will go in this economc climate. I believe it will be largely an Asian affair.

Of course 8 out of the top 12 are probably from Asia anyway so it should still be a great tournament. In fact I might go.

dave...Apparently CW didn't do his homework! :D Here's a quote from the WPA, on the front page...

It is our hope that promoters will find it logical and beneficial to support the efforts of one another and not schedule tournaments on the same dates as other promoters, and certainly not in the same city, country, or even part of the world. Those types of actions that cause clashes are unhealthy and detrimental to the sport.

We're talking DP here. I'm sure he/they knew exactly what they were doing and didn't care. After CW, everyone else comes first. Johnny

Scott, I wouldnt be too hasty on this one. The WPA has a pretty bad track record with double standards and not protecting players.
I'm doubtful CW and his staff at Dragon Promotions is not that lax to not look at a calendar.
You seem like a fairly educated man, Im sure there's more to the story before anyone looks silly.

I'll dissent on this occasion, To me, the inaugural occurrence of a new world championship event is a significant moment in our sport and, because of this, this announcement belongs in the main forum. Let's hope that this new world championship event is the first of many.

If it's an invitational....why are they holding qualifiers? And how can a World Championship be an invitational? I would think that the APBU, EPBF, etc would get to send their entrants...just like the 9-Ball World Championships.

It's Charlie Williams... all of his tournaments are "CHAMPIONSHIPS".

I only have two words: Dead. Bolt.

Didn't know that, Melissa. Thanks for the info. Hope you're well, my friend.

Hi Melissa,
You seem a little misinformed so we will educate you how the past World Championships have worked.
Every World Championship in recent years has been invitational by ranking according to federation. When DP produces the World 14.1 for example, the WPA gets a quota of slots and sends to federations. DP retains wild card slots as well.

This Womens World 10-Ball will work the same way, with or without the WPA sanctioning.

And the World Championship events you mention also all have qualifiers, including the Womens World 9-Ball Championship.

One of the primary reasons there are conflicts with the event with the WPA actually has little to do with date conflicts as everyone knows WPA has a calendar littered with conflicts.

The WPA has made many changes in their sanctioning terms including a new 7.5% sanctioning fee to be taken out of the players prize money.

We will be making a more thorough public statement soon and we are sure it will explain the full story.

Thank you,

Ever since we, at BMPAP, started discussions about forming our very own organization we've always believed that the Professional side of our sport should have its own world governing body. Such arrangement exists in other sports so why not in Pool?

Dragon Promotions being a producer and operator of professional level Pool/Billiards events gets the BMPAP's 100% support.

Is this event being held in conjunction with the Villar Cup? At the same venue?
