Table Purchase Delayed

I have been looking at tables since January and was planning on pulling the trigger in another week or so. We were just waiting for our son to move out so we could put the table in the family room which he has been using as a living space. He is just about all packed up and will be gone in the next week or so.

One of my dogs, a rescue Pug from an abusive home, has been walking with a slight limp since we got her in January. Initially the vet told us there was nothing really wrong with her. The limp has gotten noticeably worse in the last week. I returned to the vet yesterday where they sedated her and took x-rays. The head of her femur is cracked and her hip was broken but it never healed properly. There is also evidence of her other leg being broken but it healed OK.

Needless to say she is going in for surgery next week to fix her up and it is going to cost me $2200 plus the cost of follow up visits and PT. I had $3k set aside to get a table and now I need to use that money to get my dog fixed.

I called the police to see if there was anything I could do to get her former owners arrested for abuse but they were of no help. I sure would like to go back and beat the crap out of the guy and his wife who had the dog before me. It was bad enough that she was skinny as could be, had worms and fleas when I got her but now to find out they also abused her so that both legs and her hip were broken. The poor dog is barley a year old. People like that need to get the crap beaten out of them and then starved for a few months and thrown in jail.

Going to start saving my money again for a table only I think instead of saving enough to buy new, which had been the plan, I will see if I can find a good second hand table once I get around a $1000 saved up.

BRYAN SAD.

Rep to you for doing such a good thing for that poor dog.

I love my pug.

edit: Crap, I have given out too much rep today. ill get you tomorrow!

IMO your priority is in the right place.
I'm sure you can find a good used table to tide you over. Try Craigs List for your locale.
Kudos.

I agree w/ everything above. Your time and table will come, bless you for caring.

WTF is wrong with some people?

When you finally pull together the funds, you can spend many hours hitting balls with your dog there watching.

You made the right choice.

Isn't it amazing how our 4 legged friends bring out the best in us. Vet medicin has exploded as a business in the last 20 yrs as new technology came to market. 20 yrs ago the vet would have told you to put the dog out of it's misery.

You'll get a table, you've got a friend for life that will give you as much pleasure as that table will.

What's the dog's name?

I am also a dog nut. I have two, both rescued from the pound, and if anyone ever harmed them there would be hell to pay.

One suggestion for you: enter the Robin Dodson table raffle. There are only 500 tickets sold, the tickets are $20, and with your karma you should win. The $20 ticket gets you a shot at a brand-new Gold Crown V with Simonis 860 cloth, delivered and set up in your home at no extra charge.

Visit www.robindodson.com for the details. Winning ticket will be drawn at the BCAPL in Vegas in May.

In fact, just send me your email address, your street address, and your phone number and I will buy your ticket for you. Send all the contact info to: jerry@azbilliards.com and I will have Robin send the ticket stub straight to you. She MUST have the phone number to call the winner.

And take care of that dog.

Thanks for all the kind words.

I have had dogs my whole life. I can't remember a time, except when I was living in the dorms at college, when i have not had a dog. Spending money at the vet is part of owning an animal.

I have always known about abused animals but it just never really hit me. When we decided to get another dog we specifically wanted to get a rescue dog and we wanted a female Pug as a companion for our male Pug.

Now having experienced what it is like to nurse an abused dog back to health it really just makes me so mad. We spent over $500 in vet bills on this poor dog before we even found about the broken bones. She needed all her shots, she had a tape worm, she had some mange on her feet, she had ear mites, we needed to get her tested for heart worms and lime disease. She weighed only 10 pounds when we got her (she is now 13.4).

However I consider myself lucky because I have been blessed with the financial resources to take care of her and it will only take me a couple of months to save up enough for a good used table. Especially considering my free loading son is moving out soon

My avatar is a picture of my pug Otis which died last year from a rare case of pug encephalitis. Greatest dog I have ever met- how in the hell does someone abuse a pug? They're the friendliest dogs in the world. My girlfriend and I are getting two more pugs in two months, they were just born.

Dog abusers are scumbags.

Pugs are amazing.

They do three things passionately:

LOVE
eat
nap

Taking care of the dog is definately the right choice. We rescued two so far and love the both of 'em. weve had one for three years and the other for two. Total we've spent about $3800 taking care of issues that were completely out of our control, just like you will. Best of luck to you. Oh, and of course the table. Ive seen plenty of GC's for less than $1000 on craigslist. Make sure to take someone who knows tables pretty well with you when you check them out.

My girlfriends grandma also got a rescue pug. The poor dog had worms in its brain. Medication and various surgeries set her back over $10,000.

Take care of your dog man, I love mine too! I got him from the pound and he was beat down. I have had him for 7-8 years, and he still flinches like Im gonna hit him when I go to pet him. its really sad, he has never been hit by anyone in my family, but he is scarred for life. I actually have to pay an extra $30 a month rent for having him! lol! I tell him (like he can understand) he is lucky he so damn lovable, or Id kick him out on the street! Good luck with your dog, hope it gets well.

Our first three dogs were all rescue dogs, the last being a female pug who passed away two years ago may she rest in peace. We still have our 2nd rescue dog being an orange coated female Labrador who is still as playful and attentive as she was when we got her many years ago. We currently have our 4th dog, a male pug who is a pure breed. Very vocal little guy, super playful.

I am not sure if you can apply for it, but there is health care for dogs. Might want to look into it. Several vets out here in CA accept it.
