I received the following email today and thought it a little strange, to say the least:

Hello Friends...

Greetings from sunny Florida! It's a beautiful day here and I'm sure many of you
are experiencing warmer weather. The summer along with beaches, boating, fishing
and vacations are around the corner.

I need to stop here for a moment and explain something. I want to apologize to
many of you who ordered last month and experienced slow delivery. I really want
to express my sincere apologies as we were slammed. One day in particular, I did
not leave my desk as the phone rang off the hook; we got in almost 100 orders in
that one day alone. As such, we fell deeply behind with processing orders. If
you place an order, please be patient as we'll get to it in the order in which
is was received. We're constantly processing orders and filling them daily. In
fact, I've been working 7 days for 4 weeks now. In conclusion, I want thank all
of you for making me work. Business is good for us and more importantly, it's
good with you too. Keep up the good work guys and remember, there are plenty of
buyers out there. You need inventory as you can't sell from an empty cart.

And now, before I comment on the Valley Forge Show, I'd like to comment on the
'idiot group' because it takes so little to entertain me. These guys just don't
get it and that's why they are affectionately known as 'losers' on the 'idiot
group'. While we're all being successful and making money, they hide behind
their computers typing away with their drivel. I would love to name names but we
all know who we're taking about.

And now on to Valley Forge….
We heard that floor traffic was high and there were many collectors and players
looking to sell cues aside from the cue makers. I guess these people need to
raise cash more than they need their cue(s). This is normal for the current
economy. The weak money always shakes out first. Many of you experienced brisk
sales and did well. It's all about price and quality right now. If you have a
quality item, in limited supply, you'll sell cues. I emphasize extreme caution
when selling your cues to 'dealers'. Make sure you sell to strong money because
you don't want your cues dumped onto the market. I also heard that one cue maker
was displaying guitars. Now, what's that all about! I guess he's not doing well
with his cues.

Remember, you can't sell from an empty cart. Inventory, inventory, inventory!

In closing, before we get to this month's goodies…. We just want to once again
say a hearty, Thank you; thank you very much!

In closing we'd like to wish all of you the very best that life has to offer.
God Bless and Support Our Troops!!

Kind Regards,

Joe

Well I don't know this dude and have no idea what Cue Components is (guessing cue parts...duh) but based on this email he strikes me as a tard.

First he says that anyone who is selling a cue has "weak money". Well at least they spent the money to go to the show. Unlike the guy making fun of them. Second the cuemaker who was displaying the guitars was Dan Dishaw and they were bad as hell. It was a display to show his wood working talent and it got a lot notice at VF and DCC.

Last but not least this place has it's share of idiots just like everyplace else but tarring the largest gathering of pool people on the net with a single brush is just pure marketing genius.

this guy is amazing...

you do have to be an "idiot" to buy from him.

out of them 100 orders he filled that day ill bet more then half got screwed some how some way or were left very unsatisfied..

keep up the good work joe...

funny thing is for a bunch of idoits with weak money that do not affect him buisness, he cant seem to stop talking about us...

I received the same Email, I bought some shafts from them about a year or two ago. He told me " They are some of the best shafts he has seen in a long time" needless to say half of them that went on the lathe had wobbles from start to finish. The others you could of got from Atlas or Prather for Alot less $. They wont see another dime of my money

I received it too. Isn't this the guy who double bills everyones card, if I remember correctly?

I would not buy a thing from this guy, been burned once and that's all they get from me.

Hmmmmm.............I guess I might be one of the "idiots" who is typing "drivel" right now so I think I'll delete Cue Components from my supplier list for my future purchases for my cue repair hobby.

This guy is a marketing genius!

pretty smart

I don't know, Joe seems pretty smart to me. He includes a dig at AZB in his e-mails and month after month he gets free publicity on here. Five will get anyone that wants to bet ten if Joe isn't reading these threads and grinning the whole time!

If most of the customers were one time buyers Cue Components would have dried up and blown away a long time ago. So far he has sold me better wood at a cheaper price than anyone I have dealt with. He is the only one that corrected a mistake too, and then went far beyond correcting the mistake.

A few people I respect a great deal have posted into this thread and I do take the warning that they have had issues seriously. Unfortunately there is only a small group of cue component suppliers to deal with. Two of the most reputable have hung it in me and broken it off. So far I am doing better with Joe plus I get no BS information from him including about his own products.

haha! MAybe the idiot group he refers to is his repeat customer list. Gotta beeee.

Lol

This sounds like to me he sent this to the wrong mailing group. He meant to send it to his 'retailers' and instead sent it to his 'customers'.

Someone needs to email him with a link to this thread .... LOL.

Aw, c'mon guys we will never get anywhere to you tell us how you really feel about him.....:rotflmao1:

From my experience, when someone goes public talking about how great business is, and they can't keep up, bla bla bla... thinds are usually not going very well for them and it is a marketing ploy in order to make people think they need to buy from them because everyone else is. What a tool... pun intended...:nono:

could be

You just called a lot of fine cue makers and some other suppliers idiots. Joe has been selling to them for years.

Of course if Joe screwed me tomorrow I have made enough good deals with him that I would still be well ahead of the game regardless. It is a lot like a "customer" in the pool hall. Once I am ahead of the game I am risking nothing.

That's what I was thinking. There's no reason to preach selling from a full cart to your customers.

Maybe he has good product at good prices. Maybe he did this "mistaken" email on purpose.

I've not bought from this company, but I take exception to anyone that would send out a group email out and freely disparage so many people in their marketplace.

Poor form Joe. Very poor. :shakehead:

I don't think the email was a mistake. He references people that have ordered from him and being behind in the shipment or current orders. The email definitely went to the people he wanted it to.

And in business, you are only as good as your last transaction. I would not give anyone any leeway just because they have treated me so well in the past. If you have a wife or girlfriend that fvcked you like a porn star for 5 years but then you found out she was cheating on you - I guess that would be overlooked because of the prior 5 years of a smile that she put on your face

His email was very unprofessional from a business stand point. I think Joe has a lot to learn and will probably be financially sorry that he sent out such an email.

"Master stroke" in marketing

Folks:

I have to agree with Hu here. Although I've never dealt with this company "CueComponents", I do know a smart marketer when I see one. If I'm not mistaken (someone correct me if I'm wrong), I seem to recall another recent thread about either this (or another) company that sent out emails similar to the above, digs to AZB included, and someone posted the contents of the email here. If this is the same company, I gotta tell ya, this is a master stroke of marketing. He's getting free advertising, his "digs" at AZB are not only getting out, but they're even getting posted here on AZB -- probably poking an icepick in the eye of the people he intended to poke -- without any extra effort from him! Sort of like, "Hey kid, here's ten bucks; take this package and go place it on the door stoop over there." <Kid does so, and 15 minutes later, when the owner of the building comes out, kapow! The package explodes, ejecting dog poop all over the target person.> "Hey, I had nothing to do with that -- I saw some kid place something on your door stoop. I have no idea who he was." Pretty effective!

His readership is "automatically" expanded, he gets to poke certain people in the eye by having others do it for him, and who knows -- perhaps he gets another new customer or two out of the deal. I don't condone his comments or what he thinks of AZB, but hey, that's very effective marketing if he can get the very forum he's poking in the eye to expand his readership for him.

Just in case some missed it...he sent a similar one out a few months ago bashing AZ'ers on the "mis-information" highway or some BS. Same type of BS...he's so busy...here is the deals...everyones buying all his stuff but he has more....blah blah. Let me check if I can find it.
Also...I've never ordered from him period. Read enough to know better...but he somehow added my email to his customer list.

Yep - marketing genius. I can see it now - new McDonald's advertisement. All you fat, overweight, lazy, broke Americans come to McDonald's where you can eat a cheap meal for under $4.00. I can't believe that McDonald's hasn't thought of this marketing sooner.
