i recently purchased four tips from a fellow AZB member. The Tips were shipped standard ground and it has been over two weeks and the tips have not arrived.

if you were the seller what would you do?

I would give it until Monday and then resend the tips or refund whichever the buyer would prefer.

LET'S NOT BEAT AROUND THE BUSH.....

HE BOUGHT THE TIPS FROM ME.

I CLEARLY STATE THAT FIRST CLASS MAIL DOES NOT HAVE INSURANCE, BUT IF THE BUYER WANTS INSURANCE, I OFFER PRIORITY MAIL FOR AN ADDITIONAL COST. http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpost.php?p=1663232&postcount=1

I ALREADY TOLD YOU VIA PM THAT I'D WORK SOMETHING OUT, BUT I WASN'T GOING TO EAT THE TIPS. I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD, CONSIDERING I OFFER A SHIPPING METHOD WITH INSURANCE.

I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU STARTED A THREAD, INSTEAD OF RESOLVING THIS PRIVATELY

so he chose not to pay for insurance, and i should cover the loss?

If that's the case, every person i have sold tips to could say....."my tips never arrived" you need to send me replacements.

I offer shipping with insurance, he didn't want to pay for it. I also offered to work something out...... The only other time this happened, 4 tips were lost. I covered the loss of 2, and felt like i was already going above and beyond.

Please tell me why, his decision should take money out of my pocket?

You offered insurance and he declined it. Its his loss not yours. I wouldn't be surprised that the tips will eventually show up however.

This always bugs me...

Fast - If the company YOU bought the tips from said they sent you tips and they never arrived and they said "oh well, they're lost in the mail not problem" you'd be pissed right?

Insurance is for the sender, not the reciever. That's why the sender has to file the insurance claim with USPS, because the item does not belong to the receiver until it's recieved. Sellers protect themselves with delivery confirmation.

To your credit, you did say you would work something out with the buyer, but he never recieved the goods he bought from you through no fault of his own. People get crucufied on this board for that very thing. I would want all my money back (minus shipping) or the tips resent.

To me the bottom line is, he paid and now it's soley your responibility to make sure he gets what he paid for.

You sir, are charged with Providing Insufficient Information in the First Degree.

The seller has posted that you were offered an insurance option, which you declined. How do you plead?

Tuff titty said the kitty... no milk for you. ;)

Normally in this case i would say how does the buyer know for sure that you sent them but if you look at this guys i trader i dont believe there is any way possible he didnt send them and he is offering to cover some of them or sale them to you cheapper he really seems like a stand up guy

Here is a situation that happened with me and another seller of AZB.

I ordered 10 Moori tips from MATTY and after 4 weeks they weren't here. I went to the post office with the package's number, the sender's name and address where it came from: no, they knew nothing about it, never heard of it.

I told about this to MATTY and he refunded my money although I had no doubt of him sending out the ten tips - which worth a considerable amount of money, I believe.

Three days (or less) later, out of nowhere, I received the tips.

I told MATTY asap and sent him back what I paid for the tips.

We both did the right thing and it worked out OK for us.

I wish it will be fine for you!

It's is very rare that a package or envelope is LOST in the USPS mail. I once sold an item and mailed in a 4x7 bubble mailer USPS 1 st. class, no insurance. We thought it was lost, it showed up 2 months later. So patience it may show up!

in most cases i agree, but i offered insurance, and clearly state that there is no insurance on regular mail he chose to save 5.00 and take the chance, not me.

i offered to work something out, and he chose to make it public. He also chose to not have the insurance. I sent the goods, just as i said i would. Why should his decision cause me to refund him? It wasn't my fault they got lost, not was it his. I would have offered to cover 2 of the tips (split the loss 50/50)

to me the bottom line is, he paid and now it's soley your responibility to make sure he gets what he paid for.

Jim

and it was his responsibility to pay for insurance if he was concerned with them not getting there.

Even if I send something not insured, I will always add delivery confirmation. It's $0.65.

I agree with this 100%. If I was in this position. I would resend the tips and just agree to never do business with this person again EVER!!!!

Hi Marcus,

Yes I feel you should cover the loss, just like you take the winnings when everything goes well.
I agree you're making it fairly easy for people to basically steal from you, but 99% of the people will not do that.

The insurance is for your peace of mind, not that of the buyer since he allready has the insurance
that he will get what he paid since he bought it from a reputable seller.

i had considered that, but i might as well make the buyer pay the 5.00 for priority than. Between first class postage, and delivery confirmation, it's already 1.50 or so, with no insurance.

After this, i'm going to change the way i sell and mail the tips. I'm not taking heat again over 20 dollars.

we're going to have to agree to disagree.

I'll say that in most situations you are correct, but this situation to me is different.

He knowingly passed on insurance. Not me.

I bought dvd's on ebay, forgot to check the additional 2.00 insurance box. The movies never came. I ate the cost of the movies, because i chose not to insure them.

The difference between this, and most situations, is the choice factor. He made the decision, not me.

he never even responded when i offered to work something out...... I saw this thread a few minutes after reading his pm

Hey Marcus.

Out of the thousands of tips you have sold, how many times has this happened? It is a cost of doing business imo. In this case the fact that he started a thread before working something out with you just cost him anymore business with an outstanding person such as yourself and becuase of his thread I would be hesitant to do any business with him myself. However, I would not hesitate for a second to buy or sell anything with you. Your reputation is rock solid.

BVal

Edited to add: Even if you don't work something out with this guy I would still buy or sell with you anyday of the week. I understand where you are coming from and how this situation is different.
