I think so too, but I'll bet you got some cool stories in the snooker arena. Snooker had its share of fun players too.
When I'm finished my collection of stories, I will be sure to send you a copy. I'm tiring of listening to these young bucks say how great pool players are today compared to yesteryear. They don't have a clue, and now I just might have the fire in my engine to follow through and finish what I started 7 years ago. I intend to prove it! :grin-square:
I thought of one story i pretty much stopped gambing at 17 when i turned pro at snooker, but before that i would gamble a fair bit this was back when I was 16 years old. im from melb so I drive my own car no license by myself to Sydney 10 hours away to play a comp America 8 ball bb big white similar to states which id never played before after I win the comp for 3 or 4 grand a guy put it on me to play 8ball for 5 grand.
So we organize to play tomorrow the day before the game im staying with a mate we go out on his boat it proceeds to break down near a quite beach and he says to me he will be an hour and he will come back with a tow, im 16 no sunscreen and only wearing shorts 5 or 6 hours later he comes back. The next morning im having breakfast with him his mum and hot late 20's sister, so i proceed to thank his sister for putting cream on me during the night (thinking she might fancy me and im a chance lol) but she tells me she didn’t a bit disappointed I ask the mum she also says no.
my sunburn was that bad it was thick yellow pussy smelly stuff coming out of my pores from my nose face and parts of my arms, I could not get on shoes cause the tops of me feet were red raw and could only wear shorts and singlet as i was a lobster every movement hurt, but I still turned up to play as I knew I was stealing if I play solid and it wasnt easy for me to get games in oz
the guy im playing only brings 1700 hundred but I stand strong saying we arranged for 5 grand, I don’t think he had any belief he would really win it was ego over brains but after him seeing the state I am in. it takes a few hours but he begs and borrows money to play me I have to play with both legs bent cause im so sore. I end up winning and then getting him for another 500 hundred at snooker during the week.
but the best was the next day pocket full of money my friend an I were a pub having lunch and we stick 1500 on a horse together it comes in at 7 to1. we head off to the beach for a few days but we come back because his sisters friend is selling his old mansion and has an antique snooker table that he wants out, it looked like a duke of edinborugh which were worth a lot. though I never saw one before I made a few quick calls and took the chance it was, and bought it for 9 and ended up on selling it for 35. was a pretty good week for a 16 year :thumbup:

That guy was acting cocky until he stepped into a few of Quinten's punches. This reminded me of when I was a kid and Popeye had just eaten a can of spinach. He would punch Bluto so hard he'd spin around like a top--- just like this stiff.

QH's larger opponent looks to have punched himself out after the first round. Quinten just tees off on his head for the rest of the fight.
This fight is pretty ballsy on Quinten's part. His opponent (Johnny Magee) is a professional Gaelic Footballer. QH PUBLICLY questioned Magee's strength in the media - and the two settled their differences in the ring -

It is good to see that if someone runs their mouth they will at least back it up. I did find all three video's. The guy in blue did get in a few decent shots, the best probably with his elbow!

To add to a personal statement that I made earlier about Smorg liking JAM, I just received a phone call from Smorg's wife today and I asked her if she knew who JAM was and what Doug had told her about Jennie.
Barb did not know and does not know many of the AZB forum members but Doug frequently and ALWAYS spoke to Barb about JAM in glowing terms. Barb said Doug was always speaking admiringly about Jennie and often. At least that's what Barb told me today.
This story from Smorg's wife confirms what Doug told me about JAM.
I am tired of :deadhorse: . (Smorg would have liked that one).

Quinten can fight! He gets in good shots in every round, and he's a healthy guy, not skinny by any means. I remember when he and Earl had some words in Cardiff ten years ago. There was talk of taking it outside. It didn't happen but I think Earl got a good roll there.
Somehow I missed all of the posts about Rounds 1 & 2 and just got finished watching round 3.
As of this moment I don't know which fighter was Quinten but after seeing round 3, I am goint to call Schmidt and will be talking him into a match wth Quinten, which will include a FIVE 3 MINUTE ROUND BOXING MATCH. I didn't know Quinten was so big. I think Schmidt can dodge him for 3 rounds and then take him out in round 4 or 5.
I will encourage Schmidt to do the fighting first because if he makes it past round 3, he is going to put some hurt on Quinten.

DANG! Quinten got hit with a bunch of shots at the beginning of the fight but kept on ticking. At 2:12, the damn referee was stopping the fight- FOR WHAT? It looked like Quinten was going to take the guy out at that point. The ref must have been related to Magee.
OK, I'd better tell Schmidt it has to be a 10 round match, 3 minutes a round and Schmitty will have to jog for 9.

I never said that Smorg didn't like Jam. I could not care less whether he liked her or not. I simply posted that he had sent me some pm's saying to disregard her posts because in his words "she was off her rocker". This was in direct response to her saying that he alerted her to some phantom email I was using in chat or something.
I purposely never said anything the many, many times that she has said her and smorg this, her and smorg that, but when she brought his name up in regards to something negative towards me I found it necessary. Smorg and I traded comical pm's a lot. I assume he liked me but who am I to say that he never pm'd someone else saying something about my posts. It happens all the time.
The difference being that I don't care when another poster disagrees with me or tells someone else that he/she doesn't agree with me through pm's. I don't hold grudges. The reason I get pm's all the time from other members regarding certain people is because they choose not to go against "said" people because they realize the consequences and would rather not deal with the constant flaming/grudge holding. Sounds like a good plan to me.

everyone has watched boxing but you really dont know how hard it is until you do it, i only had 9 days to prepare i trained and hour in morning and hour in afternoon but i was wrecked half way thru the 2nd round gloves were heavy hard to hold your hands up and even move your legs. maybe the adrenaline drains you too he is a footballer and was gone after a minute. i think you need to train for fighting for along time to get the cardio built up even shadow boxing for 3 minutes is hard. after 40 seconds or so i realised he had no power so any ideas of boxing went out the window and i just brawled lol everything they told me not to do
i love earl and how could anyone possibly ever want to punch him???
i do remember that i never saw him before but had heard he was a multi time world champion, then after speaking to him for 5 min things were getting twitchy between us and im thinking this bloke is freaking mad the eyes the moustache, he even had the wool cardigan over his shoulders like a tennis pro. after walking off i thought to myself i quite like that guy there is only 1 earl thats for sure
