Get a NEW BLACK BOAR...around $6,000

Matt,

You're hysterical thinking you need the 7.

I do have 2 Black Boars and I play with the plainer of the two. It is the SWEETEST hitting cue I have ever played with. Anyone who ever picks it up loves the way it hits. It's just perfect. If I ever lost it, I would pay $6,000 for another one, because there's nothing liking finding the "one." I love that cue, and having that feeling is worth every penny to me.

I can also tell you from the picture that the cue Tony is holding is obviously not finished, though it does have an ivory-scalloped butt cap. Tony is all about quality and craftsmanship. My cue looks great, plays better, and wears well.

As for his new shafts they play great too. I would happily put my predator shaft away if I could get my hands on one. He promised to make me one but I've fallen down on his list of who gets the cool stuff. I can't complain. He gave me two cues, a lot of knowledge, fueled my passion for the game, and gave me an appreciation for cuemaking. This is not a greedy man.

I'll post some pics as soon as I figure it out.

Sueyen

Wonderful words from a lovely woman and talented pool player!

Sueyen, since you're not using your fancy BB cue, can I borrow it for a while? Maybe it will fuel my passion to play a bit better (and practice more) and try you with the 8 again. I don't mind that it has your name on it. Food for thought, anyhow. Until then, henceforth I need the 7.

Let me know if you need help photographing your cue and posting pics.

Matt

My Black Boar playing cue is coming in a few days. I will take some pics and put them up here.....see what you think.......

$6000 for a plain jane pool cue ? $10,000 to $30,000 for a pool cue because the maker is deceased. I look at the Mona Lisa it's about a foot square or so of wood with paint on it and it's priceless ? I play golf and some guys pull out a $500 driver and hits it as far as i do my $30 driver from Wal mart. Is it ego to spend crazy money on these things? I understand people wanting nice things but sometimes i scratch my head and wonder why they spend what seems like more then something is worth.Am i nuts or has the world gone crazy ? OK the ramblings of and old man who is a confirmed cheapskate is over. Go ahead and beat me up i am expecting it. But i just had to get this out.:banghead:

Because money can buy everything!

Good day all,
I made it to about page 8 on this thread before I jumped to the end so if I'm repeating something said after that point I do aplogize.

Here's my two cents at this and hopefully I can pull both sides of the debate together...if not, heck, another post under my belt.

As far as the cost of anything, it's about seller and buyer satisfaction. If the seller feels they got a fair price and the buyer feels they got a good price then the value is established for the product in that transaction. It doesn't matter what the product is. I once paid $60 for a Zippo lighter that was the same model I had in my early 20's that I had lost. The value of the lighter was about $10 on the open market, but to me the $60 was well worth it. The guy selling it thought he got over, but little did he know I would have gone to $100. We both won.

Someone mentioned golf clubs a bit earlier and I have a story for that too. Two years ago I decided I wanted my golf game to be better. I had some disposable income and decided I was going to buy the best equipment TaylorMade had to offer. R7 irons, driver, woods, rossa monza putter, tour bag, and a SykCaddie GPS device....turns out, I still sucked with my +22 handicap.

Bottom line to me is, if your game is lacking, a 6k cue won't change that. If YOU feel this is a valuable purchase, make it so. If you don't understand why someone would spend this amount of money for a cue, find that $60 lighter in your life.

Personally as far as buying a Black Boar myself, I'm going to have to pass and defer to Robert Byrne on this one..."Give a pro player a broomstick with a good tip on it and he'll not only make some remarkable shots, he'll sweep the joint out afterward."

Good racks to you all.

How much are you asking for those beautifull twigs...................do they come with caps
Steve

I must admit the response has been unbelievable...so many orders.

This was going to be a one of one but I am considering a Limited Edition
(12) with the following:

The Twig(s) as shown +

Ficus Amboyna points
16 Ivory Dice inlays(Guycrunch)
Matching Joint Caps
One extra Twig w/glue
Moori Tips
Ficus Leaf wrap
Bamboo Case

The Twig and Case will be signed and dated by me personally!!

as i stated before, if anyone hasnt noticed the economy sucks, hello?!?!?!?

Slo instead of making 2 cues for $18,000 ea, tony is making 6 cues, that way he will have $36,000 in sales in the same time period, And the only differnece is 4 cues. WHY IS THAT SUCH A BIG DEAL???

Are his cues worht the $$$??? I dont know, but I own 2 Rolls Royces and I like driving them better than a Honda Civic. Playing with a BB or a Szam is just better and more fun, and whats wrong with that???

Donr hate or knock, if you cant afford such luxeries go do what it takes to afford them, Thats what I did, I was broke so i fixed that(i didnt sit around wasting my time knowcking things io couldnt afford), and indulge myself in the finer things in life, a connuser of gracious living is what I like to call it. However times are tough for me now, I havent bought a car in 2 yhears I was buying 6-8 cars a year 3 years ago,

one more thing, put black tape on a Gus, Barry, BB, and I will be able to tell you who made the cue, so its not a status symbole, its a fact those cues at that level perform better for players of all levels, oh yeah add Sugartree to the list.

You mean, you have money??? I never would have guessed that if you didn't make some sort of reference to it in just about every post you make on this site. You're 'Look at me! I'm rich!' routine is old and tired. If all you have in life is the knoweldge that you're a hero to a few people in an online forum, what does that say for you?

And for the record, what is a 'connuser'??

maybe you want to call tony and ask him...
If you're feeling up to it, you might ask him if you can have one for $5,950.

If there are any left, that is...

i was curious about that as well. I would think that if the ferrule-less shafts are his "best" and that this cue is to be his "best" that it would have to come with those shafts.

Why is that question out of line? I'm thinking that steve would know if they come withthe ferrule-less shafts.

not out of line.

Since Steve bought one, I'm sure he knows what shafts his will have with it.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a few delivered with ferrules as well.
A lot of collectors prefer ivory ferrules for their value and beauty.
The only person that knows the details of BB shaft availability is Tony.

If I'm buying one, I go for two of each. ;)

Mia,
Nice post on FatBoy. If he is so rich maybe he should pay someone to type his posts that can spell. If someone has to remind you all the time how rich they are they are probably a fraud.:p

That's awesome Eric. A car that hasn't broken down after 2 years. I hate having to buy 6-8 cars a year, because they keep dying.:D

Oh, maybe that is not what you meant!

hey

I am getting ferrulless shafts with mine. That is what I asked for.

I dont know what Tony is doing on the others....if you are interested in buying one, just give him a call and ask

Steve
