Looking for the Road Runner

I have read a little about the elusive Meucci Originals Road Runner cue but have never got the chance to see one. Then looking through Ebay I came across this:
Meucci Gold Road Runner

I know there are some Meucci collectors out there; so I was wondering if anyone could post some more pics of these cues and what theit approximate value would be today. I might be interested in picking one up.

Josh <----still a sucker for a nice "Moochie"

Yeah, that is rare. There are only 6 out there and all big bux. If you can get it for less than $5000 you have done well although I am aware of one or two Meucci collectors that will pay the going rate. Market is really stale so I can't imagine its going to realise $5K right now, even the big collectors. People may baulk at this kind of money for a Meucci but Bob was a pioneer when it came to inlays and cue construction and this cue is highly desirable...to the right person of course.

Just to show you I like high end Meucci cues too, here are my two rare high end Meucci cues.

a 97-30 (find another one...free cue to anyone who can) with original Meucci case;

an 88-4E, unplayed brand new condition.

Just looking at the ebay auction pictures again......is that a Meucci Road Runner? I mean, it has elements of the Road Runner cue but it doesn't look like the other Road Runners I have seen. It also says 1 of 1 and hand signed by Bob. Maybe this is a forerunner to the road runner (), or was made afterwards.

Wow, those are beauties for sure. I was always a sucker for that piano cue. And that box cue is no slouch either.

Anyone else have some rare/seldom seen Meuccis?

Lately Ive been on the look out for an original blue 88-3.

Josh <---MOOCHIES!!!

Yeah, it states the cue is the only Road Runner with solid gold inlays; so a true Bob Meucci 1 of 1.

I am a little puzzled about the shaft. The ringwork matches but it is a black dot shaft. Didn't they come out well after the Meucci Originals MO series?

So to me, there is a discrepency between the vintage of the butt cap and shaft. Is Bob trying to bring back the old block print butt caps for new production cues? The seller doesn't say when it was made. If I had an old originals cue worth 5K from Bob, I would know when it was built.

I believe the one in the auction came after the "original" Road Runners were produced. If you look one shaft is a Black Dot and the other is its predecessor Red Dot. thediamond also mentioned it looks a little different than the other Road Runners in post 3.

Bill Grassley from Cornerstone custom cues is selling the cue. His phone is 734-693-3177. Give him a call to discuss the cue. He could of had the cue sent in to Meucci and had updated shafts made.

There is the answer. If Bill is the seller, you can rely upon the information and values listed.

If Bill is selling ,i am sure he knows, but that does not look like the original road runners, both had city skylines on the butt.
2 recently sold in Dallas for $1000 and that was the highest i have seen.$1000 for the pair.

Half way down the page starting on post #22 is a series of posts I made a few years ago showing the real deal Roadrunner cue. I photographed it for the cue's owner to help him sell it. It brought significantly more money than the cue's deanoc saw.

Thank you so much for the link. This is one seldom seen Meucci. deanoc, the cue you are referring is the Road Agent/Day Road Agent. I would love to pick up one of these Road Runners, but I think they are a little out of my price range.

Maybe Bill could post some better pics here? I'll shoot him a PM.

This cue was aperrantly made for a collector in the north carolina area and was a one off the others were a 6 off and this one has bigger gold inlays of the road runner and the shafts(my guess) were prolly made after using the same ring work!! But it is signed robert l meucci!! and that tells it all I do not know much about meuccis but this one is special. and i am letting it go no reserve.. inless somone comes up with a good trade offer or a cash buy

I personally think that this cue was made sometime in the Mid to late 1990's or later, with a combination of old and new parts. It is not like the one I have seen, in addition unlike the production of other Muecci Originals which end ed in 1990 this cue doesn't appear to be finished with Laqour. Then to top it off the shafts also do not match the age of the cues butt, because the red dot shafts were not issued until the late 1990's and the Black dots until after 2000.

The one pictured in the Blue Book belongs to me. Bob made it for Pete Sinkler and I bought it from Pete a few years ago.

I showed it to Bob and he said he made a few of them in the early 80's. He didn't remember exactly how many, but 6 might be right?

Bob also said he made a similar themed cue recently, which might be the one Bill has? It is very different from mine.

My cue is in near new condition, but I don't know how to post pics. It is a very unique design, and was way ahead of its time. It also has big pieces of real ivory in it. I have 4 original shafts.

I wouldn't sell it for 5.
