Prayers needed for Terry Ardeno

Waiting for delivery info

I'm waiting to hear from Terry's wife concerning where to deliver something. The DVD's might be a good idea later, probably not just yet. I haven't tallied up the dollars but I'm sure we have enough to brighten the room and then go with something else too, T-Shirts, DVD's, or whatever we decide. I'll talk to the contributors and see what most favor.

Thanks to everyone for all the things that people have done and offered for Terry. It truly makes him feel better to know how much people care.

Terry, I've posted you a message and learnt about your current location from your wife. I was hoping that hospital was nothing else but some regular therapy, but it turned out to be worse. I sincerely wish you recover sooner than later, and without any doubt about the fact of your recovery wish you the very best. Get back to us AZers, look how much love and support you have - because you are one of the best friends one can find here. Seeyou soon at AZ!

Please tell us where to paypal some money for all this, Hu. If you nee help with anything (like ordering, etc), let us know.

Terry,

You are in my thoughts and prayers to get this dreaded infection permanently behind you.

Your contributions to AZ are legendary and we need you back here actively online!

I think the Ardeno's are doing OK

Good luck to you, Terry. You are probably my favorite poolbug.
If anyone is putting together an auction or a raffle or anything like that, I would be glad to donate some products.

Freddy,

We aren't really trying to raise money. I think that Terry has good insurance and they are doing OK. This started as just an idea to brighten Terry's room and as a reminder of all his friends here on AZB. So many people both in this thread and in PM's want to pitch in to support Terry that I am finding myself with an embarrassing amount of funds to work with. I'm either going to have to do something very nice for Terry or abscond with the funds to a country without extradition. It's a tough call but with pool players everywhere you go probably safer to do something very nice for Terry.

Is Terry an ardent supporter of a particular charity or cause? Maybe use half the money to brighten his room and the other half to his favorite charity in his name. Just throwing an idea that came to mind out there while giving this thread a little bump to the top.

update on Terry's health and the fund

First the important thing: It sounds like Terry is out of danger. I was able to talk to him a few minutes today but then he had to talk to the medical team. They are planning to move him to another hospital or long term health care facility for awhile and then he will be going home. I'm not real clear on this, Terry was a little loopy from the drugs and we were interrupted before I could clarify things. Regardless, they are planning to move him away from the level of care he has been getting so it seems that the major danger has passed. Prayers and positive thoughts no doubt played some part in that. Thanks to everyone once again for them and please don't quit now. Terry isn't out of the woods yet.

The gift idea has mushroomed unexpectedly. People have offered $170 total and we have nine more people that want to be involved but haven't said what they want to contribute. Because Terry is moving about the balloon bouquet or something similar would just be a pain to move around. That leaves either a smaller gift or gifts to remind him of his friends on AZB or something that he could get long term use out of.

So far the suggestions are:

AZB T-Shirts

Portable DVD player and DVD's

JoeyA and others made me aware there are teddy bears dressed as policemen. Sending Terry a "Terrybear" could be fun.

(please add other ideas here)

I'm wide open to suggestions. We have far more offered than we need for just a nice "reminder gift" like the balloons, T-Shirt, or something similar but we can all give smaller amounts and nobody that wishes to be involved be left out if we don't need all of the money offered.

If we spend all of the money available a DVD player and a gift certificate to accu-stats sounds nice to me. Buying DVD's from Accu-stats or other sources might be nice but I have no idea what Terry already has. I know he has some pool DVD's and I figured I would send him a few I have along with an Accu-Stats catalog to get things started if we go this route.

Terry is still bedridden and will be largely bedridden for quite awhile yet I believe so something to occupy his time would be great.

I did get his home address to ship to.

This brings everyone up to date, or at least as much as I am. Please feel free to offer other ideas or thoughts.

Hu,

You're not that far away from the cost of a new laptop. Maybe this might help Terry while in the hospital. Access to AZBilliards?

Just a thought. I've seen specials as low as $300 recently for good laptops.

And for those who are not religious, just think about him in a positive way. A few (very few) studies have shown that groups can have a positive effect.

While good intent does not have to be religious, I think that those with a great deal of faith do better.

Religious or not it can't hurt to send some heart felt positive thoughts his way. Close your eyes for a moment, feel yourself relax and desire the best for him.

"And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy." Max Erman

I don't think it could have been said any better! Hu, count me in on helping out! Please PM me your address and I'll send a check your way! Terry, you seem to have the support of many people on here and are appreciated by everyone. Please have a speedy recovery and remember, we are all here for you!

It is a thought

Tom,

One consideration with the DVD player was getting a screen that will tilt and turn to be able to watch it from almost any position in bed. A laptop would be very nice if we could raise the money and that is what people wanted to do. I'm not sure that he would get immediate use out of it though, his movements are fairly limited right now. Might be a mistake to tempt him to prop up in bed playing on the computer when he should be laying flat. He has major difficulty sitting or standing and I'm afraid that will continue for some time. Sitting is perhaps his worst position but he really needs to be fully prone as much as possible, probably on one side or the other.

If a laptop is the choice of many contributors I will be fine with that, just wanted to point out the drawbacks. I would buy a laptop before a DVD player for normal use myself as it looks like a nice DVD player runs $200 or close to it.

Glad that you're improving Terry, sending some good wishes that it continues until you're 100% again, and back.

These laptops I've seen also have dvd players included.

I'll gladly contribute $20. Just glad to hear that the major hurdles appear to have been cleared.

I love the laptop idea.

I have hesitated to post this but Terry has been in and out of the hospital several times in the last month and has been in the hospital about a week now. The problem is a major infection. This is from the surgery months ago.

The infection has been getting better or worse but never going away. Terry is now in the hospital for at least another week, maybe over a month. The doctors are telling him one to six weeks. A lot of med's going into him for the infection and pain. The positive things are that his spirits are good and he is a man of great faith.

Group prayer seems to have performed a few miracles in the past that I know of. Terry doesn't need a miracle but he does need some help battling pain and infection. This struggle has went on for months and that is why we still don't have Terry back on the forum. Those that pray, please send a few prayers up for Terry now and in the coming days and weeks.

Thanks to All,
Hu

Best of luck and get well soon Terry. This place just ain't the same without ya. You are in my prayers.

long day today

I planned to get information to everyone this evening or tonight but I just made it in from an all day trip and still have to go out again in a little bit. I will try to get everything moving by day's end tomorrow at the latest. A lot of PM's to send and I see I have to empty my box again first.

The plan is a laptop plus DVD's; TAR is giving a full set of theirs, outstanding on their part. That should keep Terry busy awhile so I am just going to send him the left over cash and tell him to buy whatever pool related DVD's tickle his fancy.

Paypal e-mail is hu@shootingarts.com for those that want to contribute via paypal. I'll be PM'ing those that needed other information. I haven't used PayPal incoming in years but I guess it will work fine.

Terry Health Update

Terry is doing better and they hope to move him home soon. Daily injections for awhile but his home and his bed which has to help him feel much better. We are looking very good to fund a laptop and DVD's so hopefully he will have something to watch and be able to get back online soon.

In addition to any DVD's he purchases, TAR has contributed a full set of their DVD's to Terry. They continue to be outstanding citizens of the pool world. Thanks to everyone, the response has been almost literally overwhelming! If I owe anyone information please let me know. I'm struggling a little to keep up with everything.
