If you're there for three days, what are the three things you would see or do while you are there? (T F & S) this week.

And this is based upon the person not knowing virtually anything about LA.

Try to have sex with Jessica Biel. Seriously though, I live in LA. What kind of things do you like to do? Go to restaurants, go to the beach, shop, people watch etc....???

Check out the girls at the beach in Santa Monica/Venice; get some goodies at Tito's Taco in Culver City; and catch some one hole at Hardtimes in Bellflower.
 
For a pool nut:
1) Visit Hard Times (Bellflower)
2) Visit Hollywood Billiards
3) Visit Jay Helfert
4) Visit House of Billiards (Santa Monica)
5) Visit Atthecat

For some cheap family enterainment:
1) Griffith Park Observatory - no charge
2) Greystone Mansion (Beverly Hills) - no charge
3) Baldwin Hills Overlook (Culver City) - no charge
4) Hollywood Walk of Fame - no charge and close to Hollywood Billiards!

Coming by yourself or with family? Do you know where you are staying? Optrions are abundant. If you haven't seen it before the Pacific Ocean is a must and Sta Monica and Malibu are not that far from almost anywhere in LA. At least not to us Angelenos.
 
Some lame ideas.........

I say lame because I live here and nothing excites or surprises me anymore!!

1. Cruise from the 10 fwy west, turns into PCH,, North up towards Oxnard, have lunch and cruise back.

2. Drive around Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Belair, get a star map and check out all the big estates.

3. Cruise around Wilshire, Rodeo Drive and sit in traffic.

4. Hit the beach. Enjoy the sun, sand and water!

5. Head up the 2 North which is Angeles Crest Highway, have lunch at Newcombs Ranch!!

Whatever you do, have fun!!!

Don't forget the New Getty (Great views from the hilltop), the old Getty villa (if the wild-fires don't get it first), LACMA if you like your art weird and snobby, the free Japanese paviallion next to LACMA if you like your art, well, Japanese.

Plus of course those great touristy things like Universal Studios are actually a good day out if you've never been and they have water misters everywhere which is great in this weather. The La Brea tar pits are cool, but really only a few hours are needed to get round the whole thing. I mean, how many saber tooth tiger skulls do you really need to look at?

If you like dim-sum try to fit in a lunch-time at Ocean Seafood in Chinatown, it's usually pretty quiet on weekdays. (One day when I make my fortune I'm going to open my own restaurant there and call it "Forgetful Jake's" just for grins.)

Oh, and whilst it's technically not LA if you like classic art and pretty flowers and such the Huntington in Pasadena is a refined day out. Just avoid the tea room, it's a bit of a rip off, least if you've had the real thing.

The last (and only) time I was there, there was a JambaJuice at the top of Rodeo drive. We parked on side street and sipped Razmattaz whilst people and car watching. Must have seen a few million dollars of wheels drive past in 30 minutes. (There's a Ferrari dealership just round the corner) Free fun for all the family.

You can get the touristy things from travel books. Ill try to give you a pool players tour and throw in the cultural mix of the city. Santa Monic/Venice is where the beach life is. Weekends on the SM Pier is fun as well as the Mall on 3rd and Santa Monica Blvd. Great for people watching/listening to music/eating. Then hop over to Wilshire Blvd between 20th and 19th Street to the House of Billiards where there is some nice bunch of one hole players who will give you a friendly game. In the hills behind is the J Paul Getty Museum. A must hit if youre into art and culture and some good eats.

Hollywood is always fun. Tourist spots like the Graumans Chinese theater abound but for me after going to Hollywood Billiards on Hollywood Boulevard you head a couple blocks east and hit Thai town. Great cheap thai restaurants and music. Hollywood Billiards is a palace of a place and the place is rocking to a party crowd on Saturday nites but quiet with regulars in the afternoon. South of Thai town a couple of miles is Korea Town. Western Ave and Olympic Blvd. Great BarBQ and food cheap. Always a good place to grab a bite to eat before getting on the freeway to Bellflower.

I cant recommend anything in Bellflower except for the famous Hard Times. Lots of Action and on Saturdays a 9 ball tournament can be found. If you want on your way back stop off in Downtown LA to LA's Chinatown. WHere you can get a late nite snack of Duck noodles and rice porridge which will settle you down for the nite. Broadway and Sunset Blvd.

Anyone in the pool halls can give you directions. Have fun Joey.
 
Hook up with Jay and play some pool. See some of Malibu, ocean properties, estates. Do Disneyland.
 
i'd like to get stuck in traffic! i say that mostly because i know if i even think about passing through LA i'll get stuck in traffic.

Go to House of Billiards at 19th and Wilshire in Santa Monica. You will get One Pocket action from average to very strong (save Wayne for last). I can't go with you. That would knock your game big time. After you get done, take a walk around the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica. Cool stores and lots to see and do. It's only about two miles from the pool room. Just go West on Wilshire until you get to 4th or 5th St. Park and walk from there. Santa Monica pier is nearby also. That's fun too. And Venice Beach is a must! It's a total blast! And close to Santa Monica.

You can also come by and practice with me. I need the work. I can't seem to motivate myself to practice these days. We can go out to eat afterwards.
 
I say eat some X and walk around the Rose Garden. Buy yourself an IMax ticket as soon as you drop for the show that starts 3-4 hrs later. Oh, the beauty.

OK, OK, just kidding.

I think if I were in LA (oh, wait a minute, I am in LA) I'd hit Grauman's Chinese Theater and the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Hollywood Blvd. It's a bit tacky, but fun and worth seeing.

Maybe the La Brea Tar Pits

For pool, I'd definitely hit Hard Times Billiards

And if you like a nice beach atmosphere, the Santa Monica Pier, or I'd drive down to Huntington Beach (Surf City USA).

Lastly, I'd get myself a Zagats for here -- lots of real good eating in and around LA.
