...Until our top players can make the money they deserve for performing, this sport will remain a "gamble"....
Hear, hear!
...Until our top players can make the money they deserve for performing, this sport will remain a "gamble"....
...and then there's point #3. Most of these guys are broke, most of the time!Sad...but true!

For the most part...it's all because..Who really wants tough as nails action ? It's just like a street fight...I know all u out there know your local tough guys..I use to be concidered & am still concidered down here as somebody that can handle their own...been in at least 200 street fights...out of all them fights..maybe 20 or so i had my hands full...as far as the rest of the locals that had a reputation...we were all good friends out of mutual respect of each other...we all knew that we wouldsurely have to bring our lunch if we was to mess with each other...I think it's the same thing with top pool players...Once someone has proven their ability to compete at a high level...the other alpha males dont like back down but don't go openly challenge either cuz they know it will be quite a battle...I've staked many of champion pool players & the 1 thing that keeps them with any kinda edge is that they got to know they can win..not think that they have a chance in the game...when a player gets doubts in a match..that will usually be the beginning of the end.
ps..as i'm getting older...I really dont like to fight...I will go out my way not to..but still will if the other guy won't take the high road also...was just using it as a example from own experiences.
I can't put fighting with someone on the same level as matching up and gambling with someone.
Hope you don't have to whoop up on anyone for the rest of your days,btw.![]()
To a really serious pool player....they take it just as serious as a street fight..some of the really good players would get in the brink of tears when they lost a hard match....when they put their all into it and still came up short..it's not that they are scared to play but they won't go out their way to play someone that they know has the fire power to beat them if they slip up just a little...The only ones that you here of these days gambling it up to no ends are the lil jons & scooters cuz they havn't got to the top yet & are still trying to prove themselves & any champion wouldn't have to be asked twice by them to get in the grease because they know they havn't got there yet & have more gamble than sense right now...just they way i relate to in from my own experiences.
I agree with what your saying there. But avoiding a fight is different than avoiding playing someone a set. I avoid fights because of I don't want someone to sue me, me hurt them, they hurt me. Gambling,,, the only thing that keeps me from playing is cash. If I wanna play and got some cash, you can bet I'm matched up or looking for it.

"yeah, but you have to be careful...Matlock is the original bite artist. This is not a slam on Dave...but anybody who knows him at all, knows this.

I have been into helping your career John. In every thread where you got into it with somebody I've taken your side (except this one and I didn't take anybodys side in this one). I bought the DVD's of your 245 ball run, your race to 400 w/Harriman and your Exactly How I run 100's DVD. Two weeks ago I made a nice sized deposit directly into your paypal account and bought the cue case signed by you and Nick and which was shown on What's In The Case on youtube.
frankly im tired of trying to be the azb darling.
heres the deal.when im out in public and two people are going at it,i mind my business. nobody asked you to chime in and lecture me and scott.
many posts youve scolded me talking like your my father or something.
nobody asked you for your opinion of me and scott .also you didnt buy that stuff from me to be nice you bought it to help your game and i hope it did.
you bought the case from a guy i gave it too he just used my paypal.
i must be in the twilight zone or something.you say youve always taken my side.
i can read you know jim.many of your posts you are lecturing and scolding people including me like what you think is important.
when i say something i use my full name and people know whos saying it.
at least with scott i know whos insulting me.
if it would make you feel better light the case and dvds on fire ,makes no difference to me.
im not indebted to you for life because you bought 35 dollars worth of dvds and then feel like everytime i say something you dont like ,you tell me im a punk and set pool back 20 years blah blah.
frankly im tired of trying to be the azb darling.
if all 1000 people on here love me it wont change my career, and if all 1000 hate me it wont change it either.
so im done giving a shit ,im done listening too 1000 phantoms behind a computer tell me off.
again you started it jim with your post.i would never even say a cross word to you otherwise but im sick of all the know it all, wanna be ,finger pointing, this is what you need to do,i used to be great at pool, pool players are broke, hiding behind keyboards telling people off idiots on here.
im a target on here because im a good player and most on heres knows me and i dont know them so its like a hobby to tell me off.
im not saying you have to worship me or like me but just give me a break with all the hater b.s.
p.s. all this is directed at a small percentage on here.you know who you are.
god this azb makes me nuts,im a happy person with tons of friends but the haters on here make me want to shoot myself. thank god im not a real celeb ,because i could not take the crap that would be in the inquirer everyday lol.
John, please know that I respect you as a person, as well as a professional pool player. In fact, every time I have seen you in the past, you have always displayed a very pleasant disposition.
That said, I am having trouble swallowing the words you are writing to JimS. At first, I was wondering if maybe you were taking some medication for your injury which could be causing you to feel a little cantankerous. We all have moments when things get to us on this forum, though. I think I know that better than anybody. :grin-devilish:
JimS is one of the kindest, sweetest, nicest members of this forum, at least in my opinion. I hate to see him get slammed on this thread. Don't lower yourself, John, to exhibit some of the very haters' behaviors on this forum that you have expressed you don't care for. :shakehead:
I hope you are able to concentrate on the things that matter in life. Peace to you and yours, and I wish you the very best in all of your pool endeavors. I hope you take my post in the spirit that it is meant.![]()
I give SVB a lot of credit. He plays anyone 9 or 10-ball and never asks for a spot that I have heard of. There are a few more in the US like him...but only a small few. Johnnyt
