Did anyone read Danny Diliberto's "Road Player"? He made it sound common place to dump. It's no wonder we see so many luke warm challenge matches when the purse is being cut up. There are no circumstances that justify a dump.
IEven tho the old hustling & sneaking around days are dead & gone..u just can't stay under radar the way you use to years back...
Damn computers.........
ok...sorry..But like alot of people..I'd love to see pool cleaned up & move forward..and as long as this kind of stuff keeps going on pool will never see the money that it deserves.
it wasnt that match..but most can figure out...i wasnt there but was told from somebody that watched the whole thing unfold..1 of the parties is a member..so not naming names just airing my feelings toward people that stoop to these measures
So who was it? Was it a challenge match or a gambling match?
I've seen plenty of what you say but I've always had to much pride to be involved with them.
I've even been asked to play a few times and they wanted to dump to me, but I've always refused. Not only is against good morals but also risky.
He swore to me that he saw the winning player chop money with the losing player that was getting staked...How is that innocent in any kind of way...
it was a gambling match..challenge match wouldn't matter if both players decided to chop 50/50...nobody was getting thrown under the bus in the challenge matches
Off the top of my head:
The winning player owed the loser money. Happens all the time.
The winning player was giving the losing player a walking stick.
My opinion on this type of situation is if there is enough evidence to talk about it in public then whoever is putting it out there ought to name names and tell the whole story.
The problem is it always....and I mean damn near always goes back to "I heard from someone who saw something"
There is one way to know if a match was dumped and that is if you are in on it or someone who was flat out tells you. Other than that it is just an opinion. I am well aware of what sometimes happens and I am also aware that way too many people are ready to jump and say "Dump" without being willing to commit all the way and name names.
You said it was a member here who was involved. So now everyone is going to questioning every gambler/member who is down in Galveston. Just say the name and let whoever it is defend themselves. This type of thing does no good for anyone. If you are not going to tell the community who to look out for what is the point?
there was only 1 big money match that had alot of controversy from alot of different angles...i'd rather talk about why it's bad for pool then get into a pissing contest with anybody....like i said before i use to put alot of money in the gambling schene but this kind of thing has kept my wallet more tightly closed for sure..I'm trying to get a big money match put together right now with Gary & Jessie on a barbox...U know why those two...cuz I know the game will be legit and the better player that day will get the money no matter which 1 wins..
This is only my opinion, but dumping does take place-correct? If it does then it would follow that it would more prevalent in matches involving the top players where big money is involved. And the top players who dump are good enough to make it look like dogging it. So there's not going to be a whole lot of "evidence" one can point to and say dump, rather there may be only one or two shots that raise a 'red flag', that just don't fit, and which lets the opponent magically dominate the game. I was dumped once, and I knew it from about half-way thru the game, and there was nothing I could do. It got to where I thought to myself-o.k., I bet he leaves the ball right there, something he had never done when I played him, and sure enough he did, and the other guy ran 5 balls. It was confirmed a few years later by a friend of the dumper. You have to be coldly analytical to ferret out the few shreds of 'evidence' available. And just because someone is a revered legend doesn't mean he'd never dump-not in this economy.Off the top of my head:

I understand. My post was not meant as a shot at you. This type of thread happens from time to time and I guess I just would like people to either spill it or keep it private. No one likes business being done.
The fact that we even have to think it about in the least both saddens and pisses me off.
