Shane Vs. Efren - Ten Ball

Bustamante is a much more appropriate opponent for Shane. Two of the best breakers in the world right now. According to Efren, his break was never the best anyways. Now, if they play 15ball rotation that's a different story.

Busta/Shane= Slight edge to Busta coz he has more experience than Shane.

Shane called efren a "coward" or similar word when efren wanted to play 9 ball instead of 10 ball at the dcc earlier this year. He said to efren something to the affect of play a real man's game, 10 ball, not 9 ball.

Why doesn't Shane play efren a real man's game: One pocket. Efren already played Shane his game. It should go the other way now, especially since its obvious Efren has not been a top 9 ball/10 ball player for at least 5 years now.

I actually think its a shame for Shane to not play all the games. He is the best chance for a new all around BEST player. He obviously loves pool, is not lazy, and has good habits.

I'd love to see him get hooked up with Artie B and really learn one pocket. He would be the best player for the next 30 years, even after his 10 ball game goes down due to older age, as we are now witnessing with Efren.

In the end we all want to see great pool. Shane is the best hope we have of it, if he would work on all the games. He could become the closest thing to the next efren.

Saying play a real man's game 10 ball, not 9 ball is not so bad. Shane is not the kind to bad mouth or take cheap shots at anyone.

Efren played 10 ball because someone put the money up for him to do so. No one is going to stake Shane playing Efen one pocket even, and if you ask him he will tell you he is not as good as Efren. Simple as that.

We are all so spoiled from all these streams, when we hear of match that may not be streamed, we are suddenly disappointed. How lame is that?

Oh well, I'm sure it will be a good match. Would love to be there in person actually. Can anyone remember the times when live streams were a far fetched wish and accu-stats or ESPN was the closest thing we could get to watching a live pro without being there to watch it live?

.....

Tap... Tap... Tap...

This is so true on many levels. We've been so spoiled now with streaming that people will even ***** about the quality of a free stream.

Think back to where we were just a mere 10 years ago.

Good observations IUTBR,

The only thing I would add is this;

Shane has, from what I've seen thus far, learned the basic concept of one pocket pretty well... up-table when ahead, keep 'em down-table when behind....That ain't "rocket surgery".

Putting him with a top notch coach, at this point, would not change his game that much. It wouldn't hurt for sure, but when you reach a certain level at 1P, you CANNOT be taught, you have to learn from experience, and your own ability to exercise your imagination, in thousands of different situations.

He definately has all the tools to execute any given shot on a pool table. But to think he would prevail over Efren, Busty, Gabe or Frost. at this stage of his developement, would not be realistic.

He has reached a "wall" in the development of his 1P game. He will only improve by taking a few hits from the movers in the game, and by facing the predicaments, that all those guy's will put him in.

Nobody, whetever skill level, can advance and improve their 1P game any other way.

Tap tap tap...i Agree with your assement of the situation..I can relate on a smaller scale..Was when Lil John Macias was trying to learn ! pocket...I made a small fortune off lil jon..Because his mentallity was.." for my dough I'm going to be shooting at my hole"..We never told him no different and ALWAYS complimented him when he pulled off a sell-out but made off the wall shots...But now he learned a few more shots and learned how to shoot at his hole without selling out & it's made him a real 1 pocket competitor..A proven example as to learn from your mistakes...To tell u the truth..I don't have anybody in my stable that i'm dying to let get in the box with LJ even 1 hole rt now.

The game between Efren and Shane was 10 ball at DCC and was set up weeks ahead of time by TAR. Efren didn't want to play on the TV table because he wasn't sure of his royalties so I bought the rights from him to make the match happen. Shane never even talked to Efren before the match, they were on different floors of the hotel. Where you ever came up with Shane calling Efren a coward is only in your mind.

Shane is becoming a great one pocket player and is in the top ten right now and has only played the game for a short amount of time. He beat Billy Incardone with one hit and the pick and afterwards Billy beat Tony Chohan the same game. Within a few years I believe Shane will be one of the best or the best one pocket player in the world.

Shane isn't up to Efren's level in one pocket yet, but if Efren wants to play Shane 9-7 with Shane being coached I will stake Shane a set at the Derby. I am not sure if he can win like that or not, but I am sure he will learn a lot either way.

Normally I don't try and screw with other peoples lines, but when you quote my post about wanting to bet on Shane even playing Efren and then ask for 7 games playing either Efren or Busta you are a nit.

As Chris B. would say I didn't say you were a bad guy I just said you were a nit.

Good luck with your bet!

Could you rephrase this please. I really don't think Shane would
ever disrespect Efren like that.

When Shane heard what was going on, he canceled his trip. Can't say that I blame him. There is NO GAME!

Ok guys, I was not there. I heard on here or on one of the streams at the time. It was not an insult by shane, it was just ribbing like all the players do when they make a game. I said in my first post the word was somehing like coward, or the idea was the same. When you tell someone play a real game (or a very similar phrase!), and that 9 ball is not and 10 ball is, and the other guy only wants to play 9 ball, that implies you are calling someone a coward, if they don't want to play what YOU consider a "real game".

I know I'm not the only one who remember it this way. I'm sure someone else here does as well.

Agian, I heard it here on the forums, or on a live stream by the commentators, I don't remember. No insult was inteneded by me, and If it happended similar to the way I described it, it is just ribbing by the players. When 2 guys are trying to math up, what they say is not to be taken to heart as insults, you gusy all know that.

Its also possible this happened at some even after dcc this year. But the part i remember specifically hearing is the phrase "play a real man's game (OR VERY SIMILAR). Which again to me implies what I said it implies.

I know what you are talking about. His ex (CDLG) posted some email Shane wrote her from the Phillipines where Efren asked him to play 9-ball and Shane said something to the effect of "9-ball is for pu$$ies, play a real man's game".

It happened, I will try to find it.

it has been a long time so plz dont quote me, but i too heard something to the affect of shane saying that 9 ball was for puddys and that 10 ball was the game he would play. this was mentioned by one of the commentaters at the dcc. it wasnt shane calling anyone anything, it was just shane trying to make the game he wanted
