Dude,

Kind of off topic here but it has to be said... your Hello Kitty money clip is HARD F***IN CORE!!! :)

Carry on.

Ray

Ray

I'm so 100% with you man. I had a whole thread about how we carry our money and OMGWTF never graced the thread with her presence (Mary A. did however, "in my bra and my backer's pockets"), but OMGWTF should have because the Hello Kitty money clip is the absolute Hungarian lock shizzle. Maybe the best, but at least, top ten, avatars on AZ.

Thanks

Kevin

too funny!!

The DCC format would be fine with me.

In addition, I have heard local rumours she would like to switch the games to 14.1, one-pocket and snooker.

That's fine with me, too.

It is fun sitting on the sidelines, of course I remember it being fun to be a participant too. I think you will have to go back to when I was chasing after walt frazier when he offered a bet and then crawfished to find somebody so hot on the other person's heels to make a game.

I hope y'all do get something together. As usual the peanut gallery, definitely including me, is ready to watch!

So, runoutman admits to creating the facebook fan page for Mary Alvina? That makes sense; I suspect it would not be Mary's nature to leave the entire Info section blank (except for web page). And I would expect Mary's personal facebook to point at the fan page if she made it and was proud of it. I just sent her a facebook message, asking her about that page. As for her ability, she does not seem like a "hit and pray" beginner to me. Her recent youtube video on 9 ball position shots is reasonable, especially how she suggests the importance of a good stroke (which, by the way, might be better than my stroke). [edit]I watched the 9 ball position video again. I still believe she shoots better than at least 95% of bar room players. On one of her shots she nonchalantly switches to left-handed. Her experience with tight pockets on a 10 ft table is a plus.[/edit]

The confusion I have now is the claim that Mary was "trash talking", which seems out of character (to me) from her videos and stuff. Certainly trash talking is something pretty common at the places where I play pool. Again, I don't know her, so I am slightly perplexed as to what happened. I bet Mary would apologize if she understood in clear details the way she might have offended some people.

It's a moot point. Looks like Mary turned tail and ran, went into hiding.

I think the excuse used was something about "this kind of talk is beneath her". Oh well, it's not like this is the first time THAT has happened :o

Did she say that? Or was it someone else fueling the flame? She replied in this thread at post #164.

trash talk & apology

Rjohnson, the following will be the trash talk by Mary, followed by Mary's apology. IMO Mary just got carried away, was a bit full of herself and rude to some people. She got called out on it and she apologized, an apology that seemed pretty genuine IMO. She may have decided she wants no part of omgwtf's game, but that remains to be seen.

First, here's Mary's word for word trash talking which hilla_hilla took the time to compile (hilla_hilla is one of the numerous woman players that took exception to the talk):

Not into smack talking? What the heck would you define this besides an overgrown ego!

Mmm I have in the past put money in my bra but actually. I don't pay for to many things usually so most my money is in my purse getting dusty. Then again that's the point of a stake guy for me not to worry about money.

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpost.php?p=2065055&postcount=21

Well there is several ways of approaching this bar situation.

-You can play in a way that makes it more challenging for you to win
Left handed is always good for many reasons u can do it in secret many times
The average player is not in tune enough to know one is doing it

-Take shots one would not really take for the money it makes the game more fun, just don't go to far or it will upset some bar people.
I have started more than my share of trouble by playing one handed
People may not want to play u again and if your goal is to play this may be bad
Then again people take it harder when a girl beats them specially men

-Do not engage in other worlds just don't play drink up play darts. Just because there is pool table in the room does not me you have to on it.
Watch the regular people play don't need to crush every person u see at pool

-Be a monster try your best but don't be surprised if the bar cue ball don't play along ha ha
You will more than likely win even with the bad cue ball
This might wake up the best player in the room to play you. Beware of people like this do not underestimate them in there own turf. Like you the only reason they were not playing was because they knew they were better than everyone else there. So don't take it easy on them crush them.
This might be good for some small action of a few dollars

-Pick a goal like keeping the table till the bar closes this is good mental practice for real tournaments
Can also just give up the table after few games let them have some fun to

- One can also pic a lesser player as a partner play scotch doubles with another 2 people think fun after all it should be fun not serious.
This can be a good way to make friends rather than enemies.
If One is really good pick a pretty girl as partner will make for fun games don't be to serious or will blow the benefits.
This is a good excuse to talk to people girl/guy you wan tot hang with but dont know let them be your partner, wining together will bring you closer.

-Find a bar with free pool days.
This tends to attract better players who frequent bars don't be surprised if u see some pool hall junkies there just having fun.
Also average players are less likely to be upset at a lost when is free to play.

-Do the worst thing ever play one handed beat people will create trouble ha ha ha when you win but then if you lose people will just write you of as a fool ha ha ha

Usually I do a combination depends on my mood there has been time were I play people 50$ a game me one handed or left handed for odd things like DVD players to were I just sit there drinking wine playing darts like there is no pool table. I say somewhere in the middle is the best.

have fun hugssss

mmm me lol just kiting lol this girl i played In a tournament in Santa Monica about two a weeks ago. To bad she can only make about 3 balls at a time but man was she hot lol. Sadly the average fem players is not a looker lol

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpost.php?p=2065646&postcount=104

I love to see more attractive girls playing pool, yes granted most of them are going to suck but that's ok i will beat them anyway lol just like i beat the men. But seriously most players suck period, men to. Is just that nobody notices them on the other hand Any girl walks in a pool hall plays real pool get noticed no mater her skill level and specially if she is half way attractive. I know i get hit on by pros and silly pool hall junkies like crazy. Is just that us fem player are so outnumbered for every real fem player there is 1,000 guys just as good or at least hardcore which makes us stand out a bit. In the big picture anything that brings positive attention to pool is good for the sport. More attention may equal more money and that's good. If u don't want the money i will take it lol

Well ha ha well Halloween is coming up here again so I may be a devil again but last year I was an angel.

ha ha the hottie female tread that be cool

I will start going Saturdays at shooters Riverside tournaments again after October. I will play the next Jay Swanson. I usually play 1-2 tournaments a week but I rotate them. I sometimes play as far as 2 hours away. I have not been here in riverside for to long so have not hit my grove yet. In this week I was in 2 one $25 one $15. But is hard to resist the $75 -120 tournaments that come up once in a wile like the swany. Specially since a lot of the time someone wants to pay my way in. To turn down backers is a hard thing to do.

Ha ha no silly man I don't really need to try to market myself the guys on here do it for me. Actually my original post on this thread had nothing to do with me. I just said who I believed the hot girl in a picture was fwy it was not me. Then someone asked me a polite question so I responded it would be rude not to.

Thanks, No I don't do websites for people that's just silly. Actually to have website was not my idea at all, my friend an editor pushed me to do so to sell more art. He helped me and edited most of it for me. Then again many of my friends had told me do one for years.

-By next year I will list all my sponsors on my website, I have some decisions to make.
-I do 2 things that make me money Art and pool.
-No I haven't won any major titles since I'm but a beginner of the game
-Yes pool makes me money I have backers and do play money games if need be and easy tournaments if I really need money.

MARY's APOLOGY:

Can't sleep :frown:
I still have a hard time believing all this hoopla about me I'm just one girl that play's pool with one tiny insignificant website set up to sell art. I did not mean to offend people if I did I'm sorry I'm dumb and human like anyone else. I do regret upsetting the girls I get so nervous about playing girls since I don't do it often. Maybe that made me do and say the wrong thing I did however did not consider it would reach such a magnitude. I drove 2 hours just to play there in Santa Monica. I was just so happy to find girls that were into pool I met so few usually. I feel lonely in that sense. I admit I'm bad and awkward in social situations don't know how to express myself correctly maybe I got too exited about talking about pool like I do here.

You're awfully indignant towards everyone for someone with only 8 posts that doesn't "know" the people on here very well. :scratchhead:

This thread is due to things that went on in two or three other threads so maybe you should read up on all of it before getting so riled up about the things in this one.

Lastly, in some of those other threads there were posts from others that put two and two together to come up with the very real possibility that runoutman might very well have been Mary herself.

If MA bolted at the thought of gamlbing on pool, maybe OMGWTF and MA can bet it up for an Air Guitar challenge!!

I don't think Mary would want any part of omgwtf in this challenge either. omgwtf has major experience in this field. And she is so f'g hot! Check her out here, seriously (wait 10 seconds past the commercial):

http://www.spike.com/video/air-guitar-girl/2676615

Man oh man, I want her, bad. :) ;)

Thanks KoolKat9Lives, I saw all those posts you mentioned, awhile ago. Those don't show much trash talking to me, just her opinion on how to handle bar pool games. OMGWTF mentioned the trash talking at her site, which I saw a few days ago.

I somehow missed seeing Mary's apology. I think it is well done. I know I have said and done a few stupid things in bars before (usually after beers), and I think she explained things as well as she could.

I had read OMGWTF first, then much of the "hottest girl" thread and then this one. What other threads should I see? (Would Search on Mary find them?) Can you point me at the posts that suggest runoutman might be Mary?

OK, just going through the "Who is Mary Avina??" thread. So far, it seems inconsistent to me to think that runoutman could be Mary, the way they talk about each other.

"Maybe pool's just not your game, Mary...

I know! Let's have a spelling contest!"

Last Friday, a friend of mine told me he had spoken to The Mary Avina the night before about my request to play. He said she told him she was in the process of getting backers together. She also told him she wanted to change the games from 8-ball, 9-ball, and 10-ball to 14.1, one-pocket, and snooker. She also emphasized that she would NOT play on a live broadcast.

I waited a few days for a favorable response. Since I did not receive one, I went in search of it. A friend and I found some free time and we headed to Shooters in Riverside, the room The Mary Avina had told us was her base of operations. I had some friends there and I asked them to let her and her friends know I was coming down to negotiate a game.

When we arrived, The Mary Avina was not there. We decided to wait for her and entered in the weekly handicapped 9-ball tournament they were having. While we were playing, the regulars asked us what we were doing in their neck of the woods. Since I have a preference for directness, I said, "I've come here to find Mary Avina. She came to my pool room and told us she was a famous pool player with lots of backers and that she plays for money. She's also begun to market herself on the internet. I've come here to see if we can work out a game."

Here is a summary of what I was told by the regulars (including pool room employees) regarding The Mary Avina:

- She is a pathological liar.

- She is known to talk a lot of shit that she can't back up.

- She has never been known to gamble, due mostly to the fact that she doesn't usually have money.

- She does not have backers that they know of, and no one in that room is willing to back her.

- She has difficulty running three balls.

- She would need at least the 6 and the breaks from 90% of the people in the room.

- She likes to bring in casual players that are terrible at the game to make herself look better.

- She doesn't live in Riverside anymore and most people seem to agree that she moved to Oregon and comes back to visit for weeks at a time.

- When she returned from Oregon this time, she told them she was now the best snooker player in Oregon.

There were far more entertaining stories about The Mary Avina, but I am only putting down the ones relevant to pool.

Before we left, we sat down at the bar to have a drink. The lady behind the counter asked us what we were doing in town. I told her I had come to find The Mary Avina because she had portrayed herself to be a great player and this was her room. The lady immediately said, "Please do not associate us with Mary Avina. She, in no way, represents this room at all. We do not want anyone to think she is associated with Shooters in any way."

So, there you have it. My curiosity is satisfied and I hope yours is, too.

Mary Avina: you are a fraud and for putting down players everywhere (especially women players) while lying to the world, I hope Karma finds you and gives you what you deserve.

oh where, oh where can she be...?

It seems as though MA has left the building!
According to her FB page, she now resides in Cambria, CA.

Hah, I knew it and took flak for calling her out. I'd rather take the flak than say "I told you so" when you got ripped off. And since it's nearly the weekend, I can say "GOD I LOVE ME!!!!"

Hopefully omgwtf doesn't challenge me and unmask me too. :)

I say let's throw omgwtf on the American Mosconi Cup team. After the beatings we've taken, maybe having a hot chic on the team will replace the intimidation factor Earl used to give.

OMG,

I stand by my last comment to you which is...
