Espn billiards today

I don't know about anyone else, but I've had enough WPBA to last me for several years to come. ESPN Classic has been showing nothing but WPBA for months.

It's been over a two months now and I'm tired of watching it , You see the same four women over and over and over and tournament after tournament enough is enough.

I'm not hating on the women but it does get a bit sickening . I'd like to see some of the older mens tournys . The last Men's tour I seen on espn was Busty and Mika .

I will see who's playing today but I've got a good Idea of who they are but will Not watch it because of all the Clapping . Oh look bad shot Clapping , Someone drops a piece of Chalk on the floor Clapping again .

What's the odds on bets that a player with the name fisher, corr, lee, or kim is going to be playing?

The cream always rises to the top.
If it were mens it would be Efren Busta, SVB you get the point.

I have to agree with you guys I'd rather see the men playing. They don't get enough TV time.

The men don't get any TV time because they are not organized enough to buy the TV time, like the WPBA is. ESPN doesn't televise womens' pool because there is a huge clamor for the product. ESPN televises pool because the WPBA pays ESPN to air and promote their tour. The men can't organize, thus there is no money, thus they can't buy exposure.

True, and because of that exposure the women are more popular. I watched the live feed from Mike Howerton and he said there were four or five times more fans watching the women than the men.

My biggest problem with ESPN is they don't put enough money behind the tournaments.

the men would rather Gamble, Hustle, Shark....its why they arent organized. and they arent on TV because Earl can be quite the Asshole:wink:....id like to see the men start Promoting 8ball more and possibly get some of those tourneys on TV.

Let the woman have the 9ball tv time

i think with the TV womans matches you seee are always the same people because those are the players that they chose to put on tv....Ive only ever seen a few TV Tourneys that werent Corr, Lee, Fischer, , and now Ga Kim...used to see L.J. Jones. surely those five arent in the finals every event. I think Janette Lee Matches Get TV time because of her looks sometimes...(ive seen her play horrible...but ive seen her play great too)

i think Fisher is on most of the time Because of the Cueteck money possibly. (im speculating and have no facts to back that statement up)

I'm sure the men would rather hustle shark and scrape through their professional lives rather than make a living. Who wouldn't?

So you don't think that the reason you keep seeing the same women is that the same women constantly play well enough to get into the final matches?

I agree that it's good for the sport no matter what is on.

You can please some of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time, but you can't please all the people all the time.

I'm one of them people, and for me, I'd rather watch the grass grow than watch nine ball, period. I don't care who's playing.

I really enjoy watching Ga Young Kim play, she has certainly
stepped up her game. I think she will be the big winner this year.

I do miss seeing the men play, they don't seem to get much coverage.

I have Comcast Cable and they took away my ESPN Classic channel - bummer.

I watched TAR this weekend, it was great.

Rodney Morris is playing fantastic. He makes the shots look so effortless. His position play is pinpoint accurate

Guess I'll be watching TAR a lot more.

Yeah I think it is about watching TAR. Their coverage is great with good picture quality. I think in in their free matches they are lucky to get over 500 viewers, which might explain why we don't see pool on TV. The lack of TV certainly creates a great gorilla market and I think TAR does a great job filling it. I hope JCIN and crew make enough money to have it make sense to continue.

Thanks

9-ball? <yawn>

Amen to that. I've grown so sick of 9-ball on TV, that I'm considering removing the "auto-record" setting I'd configured on my DVR for anything on ESPN Classic. As it is, I just look at the "Info" of each recorded program, and if it's WPBA, I unceremoniously delete it on the spot without watching it. The bad part is, if I remove the "auto-record" setting, I'll miss some of the Legends of Pocket Billiards and the once-in-a-blue-moon men's matches (e.g. Challenge of Champions -- but wait, that's also 9-ball! Arrrggh!).

My biggest problem with ESPN is they don't put enough money behind the tournaments.

I was under the impression that ESPN didn't put up any money at all. I thought the WPBA either gave the TV rights to ESPN for free, or that they actually paid for the TV time and then sold their own advertising.

i think with the TV womans matches you seee are always the same people because those are the players that they chose to put on tv....

There's probably some of that coupled with the fact that the TV matches are primarily the semis and the finals and at most tournaments these are comprised of the usual suspects every event.
