It’s the Hatchetman for Team USA!

Dangerous Dennis Set for Mosconi Debut

AFTER 14 DAYS of voting and some tireless campaigning by all eight candidates, it is Dennis Hatch who will be donning the colours of Team USA for the first time in his career after coming through via the fans’ vote on Mosconi Cup Idol.

‘The Hatchetman’, 38, took the lead in the vote with a few days to go and increased it over the final weekend to win by just over 6% from Rodney Morris, and then Charlie Williams.

Hatch, from Buffalo, has dominated the Joss Northeast Tour in recent times and Las Vegas has proved a happy hunting ground for him when earlier this year he got the better of England’s Darren Appleton in their race-to-100 TAR Challenge Match.

There are many who feel that Hatch’s aggressive game and passionate character may be just the shot in the arm that Team USA needs to get their PartyPoker.net Mosconi Cup challenge back on a winning track.

‘This is unbelievable, I’ve got so many emotions running through me, tears, excitement and happiness’ said an overwhelmed Hatch when informed of the result.

‘This will be the best experience ever. I’ve always wanted to play on the Mosconi Cup and I feel we’ve got a good chance if we prepare. We’ve got to play hard and make sure that every game counts!’ he added.

Hatch now joins Oscar Dominguez, Corey Deuel, Shane Van Boening and Johnny Archer in what looks to be a strong American line up to face the Europeans from 10-13 December at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas.

Final result:

Dennis Hatch 26.31%

Rodney Morris 20.07%

Charlie Williams 19.54%

Stevie Moore 18.68%

Charlie Bryant 6.42%

John Schmidt 5.51%

Shawn Putnam 1.79%

Kim Davenport 1.67%

BEHOLD THE POWER

Congrats to Mr. Hatch and good luck to team USA.

Should his power fail him and he has an off day or can't take the pressure remember you heard the reason here first. I sincerely hope he does well but I can't help but point out someone has already made an excuse in case he doesn't

If Hatch gets smoked in Mosconi Cup play, I feel that the same would have happened to whoever plays. The European Team is astonishing this year. Mika is seemingly unstoppable right now, Ralf has wins over a lot of the American Team (Hatch included, Turning Stone 12). The others aren't exactly slouches either. Bottom line is who ever is sitting, is losing.

Congrat's to you Dennis! You've sounded genuinely pumped @ this possibility and now here it is.

Don't let those whiny little 'Peans haul off our hardware! ;)

great news ty lenny !!

looks like he won going away, as they say in horse racing !:cool:and:cool:

now dennis it's time to show the doubters ! 26% didn't doubt .

As good a team as any

That is an understatement!

Quite right! But putting the jubilation aside for a moment and sauntering over to the level-headed side of the scale, out of all the names that were considered and selected for the Mosconi Cup, I think we have probably as good a team as we can field. Sure, some would argue that perhaps O.D. might not be seasoned enough and that R.M./S.M./C.B. should be in O.D.'s place and join D.H.; that the Matchroom voting process was nothing more than a popularity contest; that it was unfair that it was done for the U.S. team but not for the European team; etc, etc. But alas, folks, it is what it is (as is very often stated, races to 5 in 9-ball are a coin toss; anyone is a favorite), so let's wish this team the greatest of success in Mosconi Cup!

With our 5 strong USA players, I certainly don't see the USA as underdogs.. It should be an epic battle for sure.. Can't wait for this one.. Congrats to Mr. Hatch, I think he will represent his country very well!

I've noticed that the European team comes together as a cohesive unit.. that is focused and determined. It just seems like they want it more.
I hope that this years team with some new blood will come together in the same way and bring the Mosconi Cup back home where it belongs.
I know each one of the US players has the ability to beat any of the players on the European team if they work together and prepare like Dennis said. I'll be watching and rooting as USA meets the challenge. Go USA!!!!
