Help sponsor Larry Nevel at the DCC - $100 per share

Larry,
Don't you, as a past all around winner, get free entry into the events. I understand that there are a lot more than just entry fees but I was curious about that. I imagine room, food and travel could come close to the $1900 but if someone is staking you and not even paying entry fees, they are really getting a good deal in the split! If I'm wrong about the free entry's please correct me. I wish you the best of luck in getting a sponsor and in the event itself! You're certainly a good horse to have in the race!

just more hot air!

Sherm

Wait, what???? His entry is paid?????

Just kidding, please read previous pages of BS and somewhere in there you will see that we have so far established that the $1.9K is not for entry fees or room as he gets those free.

Welcome to the thread.....

hey chris I remember you when you were a B player 5 or 6 years back.. what got you over the top. practice ? I was wondering , I took 4 months off and played better when coming back then when I practiced all the time thanks..good luck at dcc dude.

If Chris was a B player 6 years ago then I am a Q.

I don't like the insinuation that the pool community is not good for anything more than raising money.

At least John Schmidt participates in lively discussion on the forums, which I appreciate. As of right now, he is one of very few pro pool players I would let a red cent exit my pocket for, as far as stake money is concerned. I do not take differences of opinion to heart, and I simply appreciate when pro players put on their thick skin and participate here with us. It seems that most forget we exist until they need some money.

Russ

No one can say that about Schmitty.

Schmitty has heart and will get down in the mud and wrestle with the rest of us pigs, anytime.

5 or6 years ago i was no b player more like 15 years.
just get in action or tourneys.

jay i see where you guys are com from.
i dont play as good as larry and i get free room and entry.
i would not give up half for 1900.

Well that's dumb on your part (no offense, just my legitimate opinion). No offense, but you've never won $1,900 from the DCC tournament. If you did it 2008 & 2009 after you won the Louie, you'd be up $3,200.

My 2 cents

Look, half the people on here cant make their post clear enough not to get blasted by someone on here,And i prbly will to.When Larry won all around he paid his entry 4 life and motels.Wouldnt it b like paying your own entry if he done it anyother way.Blast away u usually do:confused:

I'm not gonna lie, I have no idea what you're trying to say.

Look, half the people on here cant make their post clear enough not to get blasted by someone on here, and I probably will not either. When Larry won the all-around it was like he paid his entry and motel for life. Wouldn't it be like paying his own entry if he did it any other way. Blast away u usually do:confused:

Cleaned up a little. The above post makes sense. No blasting. You could improve your writing a little, but so what.

larry nevel

i know larry nevel pretty well, you dont have to worry about your money. heres a little story about larrys integrity, when larry moved to south carolina and staying with jimmy reeves custom cues,we met a couple of times, played some 9ball sets. shortly there after he needed someone to stake him in a tour in maryland. well i gave him like 800.00 to go with. well he wins the tour, he is due back late monday night, well at 8am tuesday morning hes at my door with 4 grand ready to give me my share. i have put him in several tour with no problems, and 90 percent of the time made money.also staked him once and won 5000.00 would do it now, just a little short.

you shoul look i dont ever play in the tourneys last year i played the banks only.

Awww....my bad compadre...

Watchez,

Can you please pay me what you owe me at DCC...I am sick of waiting...I will have to start a thread again...

Yes - you can join me and the smooth criminal to break bread. He has negotiated this as a buy out.

I think the main thorn in this thread is the fact that people thought they were helping out a player who was a little short and needed the money to play.

Alot of people on AZB are cool like that they understand that this sport can make it hard on the players at times, Robley was an example of a player who actually needed the money to play in a tournament, and AZB came together and got him a chance he otherwise would not have. This forum has also helped a player of the WPBA who actually needed the money to get to and play in the world championships. That is true sponsorship, not gambling propositions.

I think some people were under the impression that Larry might be a little short and needed money to get to the DCC and compete, and many of those members saw it not only as a chance to win abit of cash, but as helping a guy out.

When the story came out that Larry did not actually need the money and it is instead a gambling proposition the impetus changes for some people and they might feel a little duped. They were trying to help a guy out as much as get themselves a share in a decent gambling proposition.

I think a player does need to be clear about these things. This forum is a great resourse for players who need a helping hand in a sport that can sometimes make it hard to make ends meet. AZB people understand that and they have shown themselves as willing to help out in those cases. But I would never want to see that generosity taken advantage of because if that happens a few times it may hurt those who are really in need in the future. it is very clear that Jay was donating the money for a different reason then it became evident that the money was asked for.

A player needs to be clear about these things and distinguish between "Can you help me, I am short and need money to be able to play in the DCC this year" or "heya, I am going to the DCC this year, I have a gambling proposition for people for people to buy a stake and have a chance at a decent return on what I win this year". There was a definate impression that the former was the situation initially proposed, not the latter.

Sorry, I didn't know you did not play in the tourneys. I just checked the money. You play great so no offense was meant. I just meant the only way to net $1,900 is to finish top 6 in one of the fields or 12th or better in all of them. A $1,900 free roll is not a bad one.
