Back in the day when I worked in boiler rooms, if the FBI showed up it was a bad thing. If the postal inspectors show up or get involved it is the absolute worst thing possible. There still are boiler rooms, I have friends that work in them( I haven been in one since 96) and even today the when the Postal Service gets involved the Feds AWALYS win their case and when it comes to sentancing its even worse.
However this only matters if its a on going criminal enterprise, not a one shot scam. There is little cure for this, Instead of worring about what you lost, figure out how to make the $$ to replace what you lost-that way of thinking is what I do. I wish you the best.
I was thinking the same thing, I think Sandcastle billiards has one less customer now.

Good Afternoon Everyone!
First, the good, then the bad....
The GOOD:
"Dakaratestar" came in today to show me the receipt from FedEx for the shipment of the case. It was approx. $40 for the shipment of a 2lb.+ package to jlrowe and his address in KY. I hope you will finally get the case you were looking forward to recieving for so long and not just a box of rocks or anything. I did not see the case before shipping but I'm sure it is in the box and on its way after all the barrading I and my regulars did to him to make sure he sent it out ASAP. We've been hit with a blizzard on two days this week and that delayed things a bit but finally, it has been sent out. JLRowe, please confirm receipt of the case and its condition when you get it buddy. Thanks and good luck!

The BAD:
I thought I found comfort on a website with a bunch of adults that I shared a common passion for pool with. Unfortunately, there are always some immature antagonists that have nothing better to do all day but look for an opportunity to stick their nose in something that they have no bearing on or has no bearing to them but yet insist on instigating trouble and promoting negativity with ignorant assumptions and comments. :angry: BENFICA, I jumped in on this to help get the right thing done. Your comments insulting me and trying to tie me in as an accomplice to this ordeal is absolutely absurd! I work a professional full time job which helps pay for the bills to keep the pool room open so that players have a place to go that stays loyal to enthusiasts by providing the best equipment, lighting, cloth, balls, space, temperature and environment for them. I do it OUT OF MY POCKET with NO PROFIT from those who come in. Therefore your ignorant comment about me not wanting to lose a customer (which you assumed, but he plays other places) is invalid and rude. Then going on to say that the 2 of us liked the case so much that we're holding back? What a childish statement. I have over 50 cases that I own outright, 30 cuesticks, 18 pool tables and so forth. Hence, how idiotic was that statement you made?!? Why would I do wrong for a $425 case? Anyhow, you've already proven my case with your own ignorance. DO NOT respond to this since all you are is a nuisance and a waste of my time. I will not respond to anything you post. I am just bringing it to everyone's attention to make them aware of the TRUTH of the matter. To answer your question, YES, I AM a VERY busy person with a lot of things to do each day. In addition to my FT job, and running my Pool Room, I'm studying, getting licensed and working towards opening up a branch office in another field of business all together. My billiard parlor is not named Sandman Billiards (ANOTHER IGNORANT REFRENCE) so get it right. I'll be at Valley Forge for the Super Billiards Expo. If you can affoord a flight out to PA, I'd LOVE to meet you in person. I don't hide behind screen names on computers. I'll be clearly marked as "Sandman" as I am meeting several people from here at the show. Hell, I'll even call Allen Hopkins up and ask him to announce your arrival or presence there and meke you feel special. You could then apologize to me for your ignorance eye to eye and I'll even buy you a drink at the bar to show what being a gentleman is all about. Same for you BNALL. I suggest you read the whole thread and get your facts straight before tieing me to anyone else and their actions. I don't work that way. It's not my stlye. I walk alone and take responsibility for my own actions, not anyone else's. Again, I just stepped in here as soon as it was brought to my attention in hopes to fix a wrong and get JLROWE

Take it easy, man. I hear what your saying and feel your pain. Sometimes ppl can just start talkin out of their azz, for whatever reason, and it's 10x worse over the Internet (this isn't directed at anyone in particular).
I know everyone is not familiar with Sandman, but I am. He's a straight up dude. In my opinion, it's rare to meet a guy that has such a strong belief in doing the right thing.
Case in point, this thread.

Ok update, Dakaratestar has sent me a tracking # It shows that it was sent out today and and in transit via 2 day delivery saturday. That is why it was so much. Any time fedex guarantees delivery on saturday they charge you a fortune. So i will be giving you all the update Saturday. Unless we get a second round of snow and delays it. yep went to fed ex site and a estimated 7 pound package calculates at 40.63 delivered saturday. Fedex 2 day delivered monday is 24.00. This shows some promise.

Just so everyone knows, BENFICA called Sandcastle Billiards to apologize for offending me on here as he was only standing up for his friend who was done wrong. We made good and he was a perfect gentleman on the phone at that.

My faith in a mature family of members on here has been restored. :smile:
Just so things do not get too mature around here, I too love happy endings, even if they are a little more expensive than regular service.
Thanks for stepping in Sandman and making the kid do the right thing. However, I strongly believe that "hard times" prevented him from sending the case and I can only hope that he will learn from this incident and make it right with IBA on his action wager.

Good job Sandman! You went above and beyond here. You didn't have to get involved at all if you didn't want too, but you did anyway. And I believe that your involvement had more to do with ending this dispute than anything else. Obviously Karate guy has a lot of respect for you and wants to stay on your good side.
I've owned a few rooms as well and found myself the mediator in many disputes. Both sides would come in and tell me their side of the story, and then I would get them both together and try to work things out. Usually things got resolved this way. Sound familiar?

Fist off I'm not a follower, but when I see someone on here getting screwed out of $425 it kinda pisses me off. Second this scum had at least 3 months to ship this case and even if JLROWE get this case from DaKarateStar I still consider him a p.o.s. Third if I offended you by call you "Mr. Miyagi" I apologize for that I was only trying to make some light of the situation. I hope JLROWE gets his case, but I will have to see it to believe it. I wish I could go to Valley Forge meet you for a few drinks, but with 4 kids at home...hell its even kinda hard get to play pool at all. Good luck and no hard feelings.
Right on man, good job getting something sent out. I feel like it's more important to embarrass a guy like that than him actually losing the case. Cases come and go. Being called out for what you are is something people will always remember. That's called leaving a lifetime scar.

The whole time this was about jlrowe, who showed incredible patience and class thoughout the entire ordeal dating back to 11-29.
Jerry gave dakaratestar every opportunity to do the right thing and he chose to ignore him right after he received a postal money order for $425.
That's not the way things are done on AZ Billiards and these situations need to be handled a certain way.
This is not the pool hall where things do happen, but the two parties have to coexist.
They can actually deal with each other face to face and not hide behind layers of deception.
When these things happen on AZ there are a lot of different personalities viewing the situation and everybody is different.
Emotions can run high and we do what we have to do to draw attention and help make it right when a wrong has been committed.
A lot of things are said (some not said) but we know what it takes to settle these issues.
Obviously the involvement by Mr. Sandman helped to settle this one, but it is always that one thing that does it.
This time the owner of the pool room dakartestar plays pool at just happened to be an AZ member and stepped up.
I'm sure he will benefit from all the good publicity, and his room was never in question here.
It was always about Jerry and what it was going to take to go after dakaratestar, and a lot of people got involved.
Some even offered to take care of Jerry's loss which shows just how generous people can be on AZ Billiards.
That doesn't mean that guys can prey on our membership.
Dong should be the one thanking Mr Sandman because this was not going to go away.
My thanks goes out to Jerry Rowe, who is a nice guy that decided to gave us an early warning to other potential scams.
This is a textbook example of what will happen when someone preys on the members of this great forum.

He owes me no money. He was listed on the "Stiffed ..." thread for stiffing, JLRowe. I will edit the thread to show resolution but continue to caution others to deal with him.
I am very satisfied that this worked out well. I know we all appreciate Sandman's efforts. I will also commend jlrowe for being so patient and understanding.
i knew that from the moment i posted for all to see. and i tried to make that clear. but noooooo, others quickly turned into a betting debt.
ok i reviewed my post and it was very soon after i posted i edited that it is about this thread.
my thoughts were to get the name and address info to help out others in their efforts. i did wonder why he was on the list so i went back and found out then i edited my post so it was clear. only 3 minutes lapsed before i made my post correct.

IMO he should remain on the list for the following two simple facts:
1. He was incredibly late with the shipment.
2. It took some serious sleuth work and local influence (thanks Sandman) to prevent a scam.
But I'm just an opinion injector so ignore me if you want
