Yes its a schon. Its not the butt ass the screw turns true. Its the shaft. As for who sent it to me. Hopefully an honest guy who made a mistake. I am just worked up wanting to get to shoot with it. Patience is not my strong suit I guess.

Thing to do is place the shaft and butt separately on a flat counter at eye level, and rotate each slowly. Look for any change in the gap between the counter and the shaft or handle, any lifting or dropping of the joint or forearm.

If the shaft and butt roll straight on their own, it could be a bent pin or a cross threaded or loose insert. These are not expensive repairs.

This could have easily happened if the cue is dropped inadvertantly. Sometimes just handling a cue getting ready for sale or shipping, they get dropped. I had a cue cross thread after I had sold it and same thing happened but I noticed it before it was shipped. I always check the cues right before shipping. I told the buyer - I felt terrible - he wanted it anyway and I paid for the repair.

Do not assume the seller knew of this. Most likely, they didn't. Seller should pay the repair and shipping cost or failing that, refund you the entire raffle proceeds and take the cue back.

My suggestion is keep a cool head and work with the seller.

Ok, in my book then he owes you a straight Schon shaft - $140 new plus shipping, or refund you the proceeds of the raffle and take the cue back - his choice.

If the shaft alone is really that warped, it should have been noticed.

Looks like you got one of those "specialty shot" shafts. The bend in them makes it easier for shooting over balls.

Hey Neil,

Have you been to Tennessee in the summer? That is probably the straightest cue in the entire state!

Even I had to laugh at that. We do have plenty of humidity. But the pool room has a dehumidifier.

Tate I feel you are right and even offered a cheaper solution for him and he said he would let me know.

Ah, there's nothing wrong with that - it's a low-deflection shaft for a masse cue. :p

nice roll, looks like the butt may be warped from the way it wobbled !!!

You were right

I was Wrong. Turns out the way I tested the screw did not test the butt as well.

After your suggestion I could not find anything I knew was perfectly straight so I took it to the local builder and ask him what what was wrong with the cue. He rolled it and said the butt looks warped , then took the shaft off and said the shaft is straight. Then he rolled the butt and showed me the joint end. The last 3-4 inches is warped. While it seems so small a gap it looks bad by the time end goes through to the tip of the shaft. He also said a piece of glass makes a good surface to check straightness.

So now I am really lost on what to do.

Demand a refund.

I think I thought that I v'e heard this con before

There was a post on the forum not too long ago describing
this con when a man bought a horse that turned out to be dead .
He then raffled the dead horse off. When the winner complained,
he simply returned the winners price of the raffle ticket. Sorry,
8up . This was no mistake. You been stung. Out the guy NOW
Was the post office involved? That's your real lever. They
don't condone this type of horse crap. :deadhorse: ( Always
wanted to use that smilie !!)
