I lieu of a post Falcon Eddie made in another thread I started. This got me thinking!

Where are all the great rooms in the world? Why is this room so great? What has the owner done different to make it such a success?

I would have to say Fargo Billiards tops my list for the USA. I don't think I really need to explain this to anyone and the Carom Cafe in Suwon, S. Korea.

Let's here your voices!

Hey gwjackal, Thanks !!! I hope it gets a great response. I'm over this place and looking to relocate.

I'm pretty fond of Chesters in OKC. Good tables, cold beverages, smart house men, and you can always get a game. Must people might not like the games in there with Chip and Joey, let alone if Walden is in there.

Hardtimes Bellflower & Chris' Chicago. No Capachino. No Bar. No problem. Unless you don't like pool.

Q MASTERS,Va Beach, best tables any where, top notch tournament room, great owner, good food, beautiful servers, plenty of action,

I consistently hear fantastic things about Fargo Billiards and I've heard from more than one person that it's the number one room in America right now. I suppose I should drive the 75 miles separating me from it and check it out soon.

My favorite is Hollywood Billiards. Decent tables. great waitresses with personality plus, decent food and drinks, a really nice pool playing crowd there - good people. It's not cheap but it's a classy place and I really enjoy going there.

After pool there's a neighborhood hangout and restaurant on Sunset not far that has some of the best pizza, pasta, and salads in Los Angeles called DeLancey's - one of the best kept secrets in Los Angeles. New York style crispy-chewy pizza with creative toppings.

Chris's in Chgo and Red Shoes out in Alsip are great places to play.

Snookers in RI is the best pool room i have been in. huge room with comfortably spaced well maintained GCs. Its the site of the Ocean State nine ball tourny and each winner gets a banner hung. some pretty notable names on the wall. when i visited snookers i wasnt sure at first we found the right place b/c the first thing i saw was a sign for take out. what a pool room that has food good enough for take out? you betcha. after a great afternoon of pool (ok we didnt play that great, but we did have a great time) we capped it off with an excellent meal. i would actually go there just for the food. the room owner has definitely found a successful business model.

I agree Drew, Chesters is a cool place to play and watch some high level play. The last few weeks I've been watching Chip Compton and James Walden play 10 ball sets. While I've only been in the OKC pool seen for a bout 2 years, Chesters has an interesting history. Here is a link from One Pocket.Org with some stories about Chesters and pool in general in OKC.

The California Billiard Club in Mountain View, CA is also a great room, that is well thought out and well maintained. The equipment is in excellent condition ( >20 Gold Crowns) with good lighting. The tables in the smaller tournament area (where the monthly members tend to play) have tighter pockets. They also have two heated 3C tables and 3 6x12 snooker tables (I believe 2 are covered for snooker and one for golf). Every time I've been there they've given me clean newly polished balls. The polishing machine is right at the counter. Not sure how much action is there but I've never had a problem getting a game for small stakes anyway. Nice group of regulars that run the gamut from attorneys to retirees.

Nice place with decent food and alcohol.

Parlor billiards in Bellevue Wa. Gold crown 4s amazing food and the hottest servers. Don't expect to find any action but Dan Louie can give you a lesson as he's the house pro. Oh yeah don't go without your MasterCard as this is a 5 million dollar pool hall.

My top 3

Of course Qmasters , Diamond Billiards Cape Coral ,Fl ,and now that they have gotten rid of that hideous monster of a waitress/manager I will ad the one that I live the closest to MBC (Marietta Billiard Club) .Kim has done alot of cool stuff to the place .The below is my rendering of what I thought the waitress looked like ....on the inside.

Nobody else loves the Carom Room in Beloit, Wisconson? That place is absolutely awsome! Full menu of GREAT food, cheap table time, cute bartenters and waitresses, Diamond pool tables, Dave (the owner) is one of the nicest guys in the world, etc. Id sleep there if they would let me! Of course for just a traditional pool hall, Chris's is the place to be. Ive only been to Chris's twice, but I love that place too!

Family Billiards. 1212 Rogers st. Clearwater, Florida. 9 foot Gold Crowns set up by Mark Gregory. 860 cloth
Aramith Super Pro balls. Open 9:30 am 365 days a year. Table time
during the day is 1.50 an hour. A little more at night.
Nice people, and decent action.

I'll say it again ... "The Jointed Cue" - Sacramento, CA

Atmosphere, Atmosphere, Atmosphere ...

THIS is a REAL Pool Hall, a step-back-in-time for those of us who
remember what Pool Halls were like 30-40-50 years ago.

Check it out ....
