The Secret of Pool

One day while playing you discover "the secret" or a huge secret in the game of pool. No one else knows it, you are sure. You cant find it anywhere. So what do you do with it? Do you publish it and let everyone spread it around for free? or Do you sell it one player at a time? What is the best way to sell it? Should you share it for the good of the sport? Should you copyright it and try to prevent its being reprinted in mass? If this is so good it makes pool less challenging, do you destroy it to preserve the game? What do you do with something so good?

The answers to these questions might prove interesting.

If I found a secret that would revolutionize the game of pool, I'd swap it for a T-shirt and a Subway sandwich. Preferably a Meatball Maranara. With chips. And a drink. :D

the secret

i found the secret a long time ago..never shared it with anyone..maybe i will auction it off on Ebay!!!

Those who were blessed with the secret, usually found a way to abuse it. The ones who worked hard and earned every ball they made appreciated it more and didn't abuse it. They knew how special it was to possess the secret.

I would feed it gourmet canned food and not just table scraps, take it out for a stroll in the park every other day and get it manicured at least once a week. Oh and always always pet it saying "Who's my good wittle secwet?"

One special, older man who garnered the secret after decades of searching decided that he wanted to share it with the world, one person at a time but he was a short-timer for this world and so

Put it on a DVD and sell it for $80 ;)

Santa knows the secret and he doesn't give it out to bad boys, so be good and next Xmas, you never know, the secret might be in an envelope right next to your Daisy BB gun.

I find "secrets" like that every couple weeks.... they never pan out..

there is only 1 secret to pool....

I have asked every single good player I have ever met... how they got so good...

they all gave the same answer.....

PRACTICE!!!!!

that's all there is... everything else is a gimmick..

Pool is a case of "there's nothing new under the sun". It's all pretty well known. For every guy who figures out... I dunno, throw, or the best way to line up a combo, or a nice system for kicks... there were 10 guys who already knew it 50 years ago. And none of these things are gamebreaking discoveries. There is no gamebreaking discovery. Nobody made a living off of pool without hitting a million balls, and there's no substitute for it.

I'd give it away because virtually everything else that can be learned is already available for free online, for those with the patience to search. I'm not gonna beat the world with it and I may never be a top pro, but if I can famous for making a massive pool discovery and they wanna put me in some hall of fame for it... I'll settle for that.

The void is that which stands right
in the middle of this and that. The
void is all inclusive, having no opposite.
There is nothing which it excludes or
opposes. It is a living void, because
all forms come out of it. Whoever
realizes the void is filled with the
life and the power, and the love of
all things.

The fact is that if you get a really good idea, it takes years to hammer the idea to other people's heads and you still might fail. So, the answer is no, you shouldn't hide it, because even if you don't, other people aren't going to use it anyhow.

Years ago, non-players (usually thieves or outlaws of some sort) would sidle up to me and ask me how to get good at pool. They were mainly interested in wanting to rob their buddies. I would give them the bad news - There are no short cuts! There isn't anything I can whisper in your ear that will magically give you the ability to play good pool. It literally takes years of dedication. That was the end of that conversation.

The secret is - THERE IS NO SECRET!

Even if there was a secret to pool and every one knew it...there would still be 5sps coming out the woodwork lol.

But they never practice in the Phillipines right? They just get taught CTE at age 10 and take on the world...
