Unpaid Players at International Events

Heard there are several players still not paid their money from last year and this year. Which is incredibly sad.

1. Mika Immonen still not paid from World 10-Ball by Raya Sports which was backed by WPA (World Pool Association which the President Ian Anderson got hammered by Billiards Digest)
Add the other top 2-3 finishers like Appleton and Alcaide fr Spain. (If they hav got paid someone update please)

2. Immonen also not paid in full yet for US Open 9-Ball.

3. Were the players from the big Arizona UPA tournament ever fully paid? Archer and Immonen were 1st-2nd.

4. And there was a big event in Canada (Western Open?) where promoter Jim Wyche(?) collected entries from like a 100 players and the event never happened and no one got a refund.

5. Most shocking rumor is the Predator World Tour Stop in Spain where they didnt finish the tournament and played down to final 16 players. They promised players to pay them at the end a minimal prize and also finish the event at the next stop in Brazil. But that event in Brazil heard is being cancelled too as well as the Predator Asia stop. Not much of a "world tour" when you cancel half your events let alone cant finish an event and pay the players

I know its a tough economy out there and promoting events is not easy, but dang! Dont do an event (or announce one) if you dont have your s**t together.

Does anyone have any updated info? Just tired of these people getting away with things of this serious of nature.

I normally wouldn't respond to a thread like this, but I've seen quite a few of them, therefore feel the need to at this time. I'm not knocking your thread, but a few "facts" would go a lot further than I "heard" does, as facts are indisputable because they're the "Facts"..."heard" is just that....the repeat of a rummer that may...or may not have any truth to it...Just my opinion:wink:

Sorry Folks,

I posted this in a different thread by accident:embarrassed2:.

Next time someone *****es about where the added money at one of Mike Zuglan's Joss Tour event goes, remember one thing. NO ONE has ever not been paid at one of his events. NO ONE. Every player who cashes gets real green stuff, not a check or a promise. That is more important to a player who is travelling around the country or the world. JMHO.

Unpaid

I know Chavez is still owed $750 from the World Championships in the Phillipines. He is one of many, just ask Jerry Forsythe.

If someone went around saying everyone had been paid, that is what I would consider an unfounded rumor. But that many players have been stiffed after paying to travel to the Phillipines, that's a fact!

I would strongly suspect the Mika is being paid from the U.S. Open, probably with a monthly check. I'm sure that will be taken care of soon, if not already. Can't say for sure about The World Ten Ball from last year. Raya did eventually pay off the other big events they put on. If they want to do another one, they will have to clear this up first. I agree that the WPA should be proactive here!

As far as the Arizona event is concerned, Mark Griffin bailed out eight of us who had received bad checks to the tune of seventy cents on the dollar. The promoter, Chuck Bobbitt, then promised to pay the balance within one year. A year later we got a little over half the money still owed us (about 17.5% more). There have been no further payments. Johnny is still owed over $1,400! I'm on the bottom end, owed about $240.

I am still on the look out for this guy. One day he is in for a surprise! If he ever crosses my path, I will make him empty out on the spot! I may take his pants and shoes as well. Wallet goes for sure! And cue stick too if he has one in his possession! No threat, that's a promise! He has been sighted in Phoenix at a couple of bars.

If he is spending like a sailor, that's one thing but if he is down and out with nothing but a few bucks in his pocket, I say let him slide. Cmon Jay you are a zillionaire!

It's not for me. It's for the other guys like Johnny and Mika. I don't like that he lied to them, and cheated them out of money. That is not okay with me and won't ever be. Contrary to what has been said, he pocketed quite a bit of money off that event. It did a big gate and he sold thousands in raffle tickets. Plus $24,000 from the entry fee money!!! That was what he used to pay the lower places (9th thru 24th).

If you say you are going to add money, then add ALL of it. Adding some of it doesn't make you partially right - it still makes you wrong.

I remember the Bobbitt incident and many a poster here sticking up for him. Simply pathetic.

I ran a tournament (non pool) in Florida in February. The guy in Florida assisting us was to have $1000 added to put towards the $3500 added that was advertised. He kept stalling all weekend saying that he didn't carry that kind of cash around with him and I told him well eventually you are going to have to have it. Long story short, come Sunday not only does he not have the $1000 but he stole another $400 out of the entry fees. I didn't make a scene in front of the players cause I didn't want it to affect the tournament or anyone's play. I knew I could deal with this fool anytime and there is a time and place for everythingl. I pulled the $1,400 out of my pocket and everyone was paid on the spot as they were knocked out of the tournament.

It wasn't that hard - I didn't go into the tournament putting up my last nickel to make it happen.

If he pocketed money off the event, go get'm. I had thought he lost his shirt.

Mika is still owed $60,000 for the 2009 World Ten Ball and David Alcaide $15,000.
Darren Appleton has been paid but Karl Boyes is still among what is reckoned to be 24 players still waiting for their money.
A a matter of interest the WPA are also still awaiting payment for their sanction fee and likewise the referees who worked at the event.

Hey Doug!!
The WPA goes for the 'Pay you Tuesday' thing??????
Complete morons!

Don't forget that the WPA cut in the added money for the World Team Event, after the team had signed up and paid for the flight tickets...

One day some promotor is going to stiff the wrong guy. Someone that is desperate and has nothing to loose because he was counting on the money now! Then we'll see some more bad-mouthing on TV about pool. Johnnyt

It's happened. I was in with Danny Medina when Mackey told the players that he didn't have the money to pay off the just completed Camel Pro Tour stop. Danny (and me) had $4,500 coming. Danny went up to his room and got the money! Don't ask me what he did because I won't tell you. Let's just say he delivered a very convincing argument on why Mackey should pay him NOW! Meanwhile he was the only one who ever got their money. The rest got IOU's and promises.
