Alex,

There are two buffets at Rio. My bet is you are referring to the seafood buffet. The regular buffet is nothing special. Last time I was there, the cost was right around $40. And I'm not a big seafood lover. Love things that used to go moo:embarrassed2:.

Well it seems everyone around here had pretty deep pockets. However if you make your living from Pro Pool can I suggest Subway across the street inside slots of fun. The five dollar foot long is actually ten Dollars but hey its Vegas right :)

I'm with you Jay, the Peppermill is a must every time I got to the Riv.
 
One of Vegas' hidden gems is Hugo's Cellar at the downtown hotel 4 Queens. It's my favorite restaurant in Vegas. Incredible food and atmosphere. Not cheap, but great value relative to the strip, and the food is every bit as good.

Don't let the fact that it's downtown turn you off. It's well worth the trip. Expect to spend about $50-60 per person.

Food Court in Riviera has la salsa and that is my favorite.They also have a Indian food place in the same food court.This is little pricy but the food is good.

Most of the cities in USA do not have places serving food from philippines.In las vegas you have several restaurants that serve exclusively food from philippines.

Another unusual stuff u can get in vegas is Ethipion food.I love that Ethipion Injara. One of the ethiopion restaurants is very close to Riviera.
Town`s best thai restaurant is few doors next to the cue club pool hall.

There are very good restaurants for mexican food.My favorite in AGAVE right across RED ROCK casino.Tennis pro Agassi is the part owner of AGAVE.

There is a very good Cuban restaurant that is close by to Riviera.

Very famous restaurant serving Bavarian food is close to Riviera on Paradise road and Harmon

If u are looking for very fancy places to eat you will find them in every top ranked casinos.

Top steak House where locals go is- 'Fleming'

For a steak in Vegas Emeril's Delmonico Steakhouse in the Venetian has always been excellent I have eaten there 3 times. Kinda pricey though.

For a good Breakfast deal I have had good luck with the graveyard special at Kady's in the Riv. Around 5 bucks for all you can eat flapjacks or ham and eggs. Funny thing though..Last time I was there during a tourney they still had the special but did not have it listed on a menu or anywhere. I had to ask for it.
 
the best burgers

The best place is the Burger Bar ,in Mandalay Bay ! It has by far the best burgers we have ever tasted. My team has been out there four times , end every time we go , we always go there .
That was the best ,now for the worst , The buffet at The Wynn , it was by far the worst place we ate in Vegas ,and cost lots more than the other buffets .

I second the Golden Steer! It's on Sahara just off the Las Vegas strip.

kadys and kristophers at Riviera

I just spent the last week hangin with some old pals at the APA singles event at the Riviera. I live here in town so I set them up with coolers of beer and spirits, french roll sandwiches for a quick bite etc. After pool on friday we went to Kadys inthe afternoon and ordered steaks and salads. Anyway seven of us, four order steaks and only three come out, the girl said the cook forgot to make it very sorry, we were relaxing no problem we'll wait already 1 hour waiting... waiting.... Where the F@#& is the steak its been over two hours. Oh the cook forgot AGAIN!!! My friends girl that was waiting is a cocktailer in another hotel and the shit was about to hit the fan. The waitress said "whatttddya want me to do about it"".. As I new the sparks were coming I left with my friend so he didn't punch somebody and his girl immediately said "Get Dennis, the BIG BOSS here immediately" as well as the head of Riviera food service, head chef etc.....the waitress turned ghost white when she heard us ask for the big boss by name....not a good experience will never try again....

Next day bumped up to Kristophers(Riviera's steak house) and enjoyed our meal until the girl at the next table fell down (drunk?) and puked all over the floor !!!!!

I'm sure these are isolated cases and just wanted to share a recent experience.

Last fall we went to Peppermill and had the worst meal ever. We ordered steak salad and the meat was pure gristle!!!like john candy on that movie!!!! they took 2 dollars of each salad, so I guess you get what you pay for.


I have had great food at the RIO seafood buffet, Ellis island is good food, and I like la salsa or the philly cheese steak guy at the food court in the Riv.. Had friends who stay at Circus and raved about the steak, not the buffet but the steak great for the money!!!!

Vegas has more 5 star restruants than any where else in the world so treat yourself to some great meals!!!! Have fun

Yep that is the place. Cannot recommend it enough, it is a Vegas "must see".
 
sri - i am just old and cheap...

here we are, vegas will soon open up with many of my AZB friends and so many hope to enjoy the competition and enjoyment here and also not spend too much $ and then so many of you talk of how much you can spend for a single meal for DINNER!!

it really boggles my mind - it really does, and i will say no more about my heart & feelings, this i need to just let it be as it is, no contest from me

i know a few folks who have so much money it is amazing, truly...

but i am sorry to say, that they are more humble in so many respects than many of you!!

do you think 'any' steer can be so much better than another? not here in America. but yes it is true in Japan with true kobe, but other than than that, it does not exist

anyway, for some of you who only need to have a meal for re-fueling and to enjoy to play another day, my home is always open to you

steaks vary from side to side, some are fair, some are good and some are great. its pot luck so to speak

Piero's on Convention Center Drive near the Riv. Great Italian and who knows... You might even run into Jerry Lewis :D
 
We made the APA 9ball championships a few years ago and a friend who go's every year talked about the Holy Cow all the way out there on the plane. Our whole team went there the first night and the 2nd night and the 3rd day for lunch and supper and 3 more times in the 10 day stay. The food is awesome and so are the prices, best ribs in the world bar none. I don't care about going back to Vegas at all, the ten day stay was 7 days to long. Do your self a favor and try the Holy Cow off the strip between the Riv and Stratosphere.--Leonard

Our friend who took us to the Cow, Ernie Hord had 2 strokes last week and might never see Vegas again as he is in intensive care unit in Charlotte NC.

So many places to eat, so little time. I'll have to dig this thread up next time.
I might get some boos and hisses for this one, but I thoroughly enjoyed Kadies at the Riv for breakfast, and as far as my discerning palette goes, didn't find the 12 dollar T Bone steak half bad. Their fried chicken and mashed taters was pretty good too. Didn't have much time and we got tired of chasing these all you can eats around, only to find the lines ups half a block long. So we woofed out at Kadies most of the time and right back to the convention center for more pool.

right down the street on sahara,same side as golden steer is Landrys,i think its as good as steer although steer is good,lot of locals go to landrys,also peppermill,if we go as couples we mostly share 1 order,huge portions of good food
 
If u like hamburgers,here are my suggestions:
' Fat Burgers' in summerlin-flamingo 7 ft apache next to homedepot

'Johny Rockets' in fashion show mall right across Wynn casino

' In N out' burgers in various locations

'Strip burgers' on the street level of the fashion mall on Las Vegas blvd.Strip burgers will be fully loaded the way u want.Around 10 $.and add 2$ for those girly looking boys/boyish looking girls/girly looking girl servers

Strip burgers are my recommendation.You sit out side in a gazebo,sipping budweiser and looking at the tourists passing by.

Yes, I do! That's like saying a $200 bottle of scotch tastes the same as a $20 bottle. Not to me. Its not even close.

With steak, there is a difference between USDA prime, choice, and select. What kind of cow? Black angus? Organic? Then the cut. Dry aged or wet aged? Then, who cooked it and how?

You don't get fat like me on accident! I live for a great steak. Sometimes, its not cheep but you have to treat yourself sometimes.
 
I have tried The Steak Place at Circus Circus a few times and wasn't all that impressed. There is a GREAT little italian/mexican place in Circus Circus that has all you can eat spaghetti and bread steaks called Mexitalia X-Press.

The Fix at the Bellagio was good, as Cristina said.

I also liked the steak place in the MGM (Sea Blue) and the one at the Monte Carlo (I forget the name).

I prefer Katy's for the late night breakfast specials - can't beat the price and the breakfast is tasty!

My fav buffet is the Mirage. I don't care for the Riv's at all.
 
I remember when you could go to Las Vegas, eat like a King, and the food cost was minimal. Those day are gone. if you go over to HENDERSON has Rail Road Crossing CASINO. Breakfast $1.49, and the BEST VALUE in the County. Two Eggs, Hashbrown, Bacon, or Sausage, and Toast the way Vegas was!

Vegas has turn in to a town with MANY GORMET Resturants operated by TOP Chefs like Emeril Lagasse, Gordon Ramsey, etc., and the Prices are sky hi!.
