Leather wrap vs. Linen wrap?

Individual preference

Which kind of wrap do you like better?
It's a good question. Most players base their decision over some years playing. Some have the opportunity to play with a friend's cue which may have a different wrap, and that's a good thing. My preference after years of playing with a linen wrap is that I had my custom cue made with a leather wrap(calfskin). I sweat a lot,but I use a towel to dry my hands often. I love the feel of the wrap, which translates to a comfort feature in my brain, which helps me. Just My Most Humble Opinion.

Between leather and linen, linen is better looking and better feeling. Cork is better feeling than anything I've ever tried, but it leaves a lot to be desired in the looks department. Although black cork doesn't look too bad.

Stacked leather kind of intrigues me, though I'm perfectly happy with my linen wrapped cue.

My hands sweat alot during play as well and i have found that good quality leather/lizard is much easier and more comfortable to hold onto than linen. Wrapless works well too

Wow, I guess it all comes down to personal preference. My hands seem
to sweat alot too, and wrapless along with leather just feel funny when
my hands are sweaty. Linen to me feels pretty much the same no matter
what condition my hands are. I vote Linen.

I prefer the linen wrapped cue when playing, but only because that's what I'm accustomed to. It's a matter of personal preference really.
Having said that, I do feel that a leather wrap looks best on some of the high-end cues and especially the artistic cues.

Wrapless ended up costing me big one time in the quarter finals in Reno years ago/slippage. When you get near to the finals, the room humidity/crowd, increases, and your grip changes, there's a good reason why golfers use gloves. I personally loved leather, yet its inability to stay at a consistent level of tack during match play made me go back to linen, Varner feels the same way about linen, it adjusts well to changes in the enviornment.

I think wraps are like women. You love or like the one you are with. I have leather, lizard, elephant, linen, stacked, and wrap less and have tried cork. They all feel good. I think it just depends on the look you want.

Leather, and wrap less are easier to keep clean. Linen gets dirty and may get snags or frayed and the threads can get unraveled. Leather can also get the finish worn off or scuffed. Elephant is the most durable. The wrap can also make the cue feel different. Linen tends to soften the feel. Leather, lizard, elephant and wrap less make it harder. The great thing is you can always change the wrap when needed and give the cue a new look for a reasonable cost.

Ask Mika or Archer or Varner if the look of their wrap is more important than the actual type of wrap, I think you know the answer.

I think it matters where you live. It is always humid here, that makes linen feel awful and slick. For the record, the good, soft, older linen feels great when conditions are right

I'm in the same boat. I'm half-tempted to put a leather wrap on my cue, but I'm afraid I won't like it. And none of my friends have a leather wrap, so I'm still looking for someone to let me take a test drive of theirs.
