Silly question

The 13 mm is the measurement of the outside edge of the cue-tip and end of the shaft. The dime is just the shape of the dome on the tip where you stike the ball. Johnnyt

13 mm is the thickness of a common nickel? I think I have been "shortchanged"!!!

(stifling a giggle)

Bob, no disrespect, but 2069 posts and you still had the cajones to asked that question on a public Forum ? Your probably a really good pool player
because it's apparent that you have put all your ego problems far behind you. And I mean that as a compliment. :woot:

Hi Bob,

there is one other factor....is the tip edge or sides paralell?....if so I would say its still 13mm, but if you chamfer the edges inward slightly like I do it will....IMO make it a smaller tip like say 12mm or 11mm....

I do that when the tip is new so when it is broken in it goes back to paralell

Thirteen milimeters not only refers to the standard thickness of a common U.S. nickle, but is also one half the circumferance (squared), of a dime. Pre-1964 coinage is excluded, of course.
In addition, when viewed from a quantitative point of reference these measurements may well be deceptive and highly misleading to those who are untrained, or unfamiliar with the tip sciences.
Suffice it to say, however, the only thing a lay person really need say to a qualified tip installer is. "Make it round, Joe." :)

LOL... even this lay person knows a nickle is over 21 mm wide...even a dime is wider than 13mm.

I do believe this is right on, and what the OP was asking. Since a dime is a tighter dome, it is possible you envisioned tapering the sides of the tip to meet that tighter dome and that does make the tip size smaller. I personally would be driven crazy if my tip was tapered on the sides rather than running parallel to each other. :)

Funny thing i should of known this.I guess i was up to late last night.5 hours sleep in the past 48.
Thanks guys.

good lord!!
how many layers? 20?
does it still fit in your case? :D
no need for a 60" cue huh chris

I like to glue 3 of them Kamui's together - just to make damn sure I got enough tip. I figger if one tip is good, then 3 tips is about 4 times as good!

Chris

Yep, no doubt about it. I learned this way back in the good olde days of drag racing, while in the pits debating on whether to jet up the carbs a little bit more for the next round.

While taking the bowls off the carbs, an old timer back then was watching and chewing on a tooth pick in his mouth. He said to me, " Go ahead son, jet her up. After all, if bigger is better, then too big must be JUST RIGHT!"
