I have several hundred old damaged pool balls, these balls are what I consider way to damaged for play.

Does anyone know a good use for them/ Something fun maybe.

My wife wants to cut them in 1/2 and make something, I dunno what out of them but I have no way of cutting them myself and I figure paying someone would probably be too costly.

I was think of using them as projectiles for a home made cannon. Does anyone know of a good lead to get one of these AIR or gunpowder cannons?

OR what do you think can be done with them. What would you do ?

could I buy them

My balls aren't old yet (at least not the Aramiths), but when they haved served their time, I'm gonna set them atop my target frame and "snipe" at them with my .22-250 and watch them explode!!!

Now that is a great idea. Can I bring my AR-15 over?

I have seen a few tables that were made using old pool balls. You can cut them in half or keep them whole, put them in a frame and throw a piece of glass over top. If you don't want to use them you can send them to me

As far as the cannon thing goes search the web on how to build a potato gun. They are cheao and easy to make and should have no problem launching a pool ball a few hundred feet.

I saw a cool cue rack made from old balls drill a hole through some of them and line with felt.. for the top row.. and hollow out "cups" on the tops of others for the bottom row

I like the idea with the Canon, there are a number of Canon makers on line I would contact one, the dam thing would be a blast on the 4th of July!!!!:D You could also contact some of the Car Shops and see if anyone wants any for shifter nob's, I have sold a few to customers for that purpose.

Take care

Best that i've seen is someone putting them on a lathe and turning the down to make joint protectors. after turning down, cut in half and two insert pins. walla--two joint protectors with the number on top. easy to distinguish sticks and shafts and a novel idea.

A cannon would be awesome..
Shooting them as targets would be cool....until about the 3rd ball when you realize you are gonna make one hell of a mess.

I hate to be a party pooper, but blasting plastic into little pieces is bad for the environment. At some point, we all need to wake up and realize that it's not good for us or the animals that eat it. We have several billion tons of cleaning up to do already. A good start is to quit dumping it in the environment.

I would make sure to always bring an old ball with me to the poolhall, then replace the old ball with one of their new when no one were looking.

After a year you have perhaps 10 brand new tv-sets you can sell on e-bay.

Just make sure to visit many different poolhalls.

Old Balls

I had a set that I drilled and wired together in the racked shape. The look on friends face when they broke and all the balls just set there was awesome. I have a 8ball and 9ball hooked together too. Don't know why but I let full rack go, may have to make another set.

Not to hijack this thread, I have a set of the old clay balls, if someone wants to make an offer.

Not to hijack this thread...he said, while doing exactly that...
.......................................................................................

Put them on the wanted/for sale forum - there is a good deal
of intrest in the old clay balls - if, they are in fact, clay.

Then, there's always fleabay.

We now return to our regularly scheduled thread.

Funny you mention this, I just recently did this with my Jeep after a customer ordered a set to do for him and a few of his friends.

Not to party-poop your party pooping, but my shooting range is on my property in East Texas and we always, ALWAYS pick up anything that we shoot and dispose of it properly. What I suggested is certainly better than just tossing them into the garbage and sending them to the dump to be buried. Anything that can be recycled is placed in my recycle bin and set on the curb each Tuesday. Is phenolic even a recyclable material??? If not, then what in the heck do you think we should do with old phenolic???

FWIW, I usually like to shoot tomatoes and apples at the range. They explode real nice when hit squarely with a .22 caliber 52 grain HPBT bullet. And, what's left of them are usually devoured by wild animals or they simply wither away as they are bio-degradable.

Another way to mess things up is to just add a extra ball to a coin op. This will really mess with their heads.

We all know you are not serious but there are low lifers that do steal balls, racks, bridge heads, brushes, chalk. Don't understand it because none of that stuff in a bar is of good quality. For some reason it is their nature to steal something or mess with the next person.
