Is Brunswick still the top brand name anymore?

As Brunswick, Inc. is so big, and so diverse now, that pool tables are less than 7% of their business.

How much attention is corporate actually giving to promoting the Brunswick Billiards brand anymore?

There are lots of other pool table makers out there...

I think you're right Corey. I believe they still are still #1 in home tables but #2 behind Diamond in the billiard industry (tournaments), poolrooms, and hard core players. Johnnyt

IMO...It is still the top most recognized brand name...because of it's history.........However........they current day are "trying" to give that away......and have the worst after sale customer service of any table manufacturer...

Case in point...I can look up a contact number for Diamond, Olhousen, Connely, Gandy.....They proudly display an address and phone number for direct contact.

I can't seem to find a number anywhere on Brunswick's web site...and if you try and contact them through thier online form they will simply refer you to a "authorized dealer" which in my area is a Ultimate Electronics....yep that is correct...U.E.

Then after U.E. is zero help you can go back to the online form inquiry again......and get referred to another (out of state U.E.)........that won't even bother to reply back with any information.

I'm not bitter............

Thank god for the fine network of table mechanics we have on this site that can actually help a brother out and get something done.......mainly.......RKC and Scruffy1

How in the world is Ultimate Electronics a dealer for Brunswick??? I must not be familiar with their full product line.

Just curious.

Good question CCC. I think as far as competition goes things are pretty much the same as always. Diamond has a lot of business but that is mainly taking up the slack from some of the companies that have folded over the years. As far as Brunswick Billiards being only 7% of Brunswick Corporate, you have to remember it is the flagship part that the entire company was formed around (boats are their main bus. now). With the economy the way it is and billiards the way it has been they don't seem as willing to spend money, likely because boat sales are also down. I'd say they're still number one but they need to try some new stratagies to stay top dog.

I've contatced Brunswick on-line and received complete and quick responses, including a name and phone number of someone at Brunswick to call if I needed further help.

Maybe they just don't like Arizona. It is quite hot there (only 106 here today).

Yes, Brunswick is still a top name in tables, especially commercially with the GC's. Diamond obviously is also at the top. The two stand together and everyone else is down from there.

Many people on here prefer Diamonds, but not everyone. As I'm sure you know Corey (since you are one) there are a number of professionals who prefer GC's too. I think Diamonds are a great table but not necessarily better than a GC, just different. There are some differences in the way the two play but to my mind these are just a matter of personal preference.

I was surprised when I found out how much they moved to boats, particularly bass boats.

I would have agreed with you before leaving to live in east asia for a year. I havent seen or heard the word Diamond in any pool hall anywhere across the continent.
Brunswicks pretty much got it on lock over here. All the players play on Metro or GC tables and the same goes for most major tournaments.

I think Brunswick is still number 1 in the world when you consider the international market

Until brunswick develops a table which can be set up in 30 mins. I am afraid the tournament world is closed to them these days. Shame because I feel the GC is a better table ... my opinion of course.

funny , I just googled Brunswick , took me to their homepage , top right tab is 'contact' , took me to 'contact' page , ph# is (847) 735-4700 . total elapsed time for search 47 seconds. Address is on that page too . . .
just for fun , I tried something different , and Brunswickbilliards takes you to a different page - that might be where you went .
hope that helps

55 stores across 16 states. And this is a bad thing why? Shit, the only way pool tables are going to get into homes is if they're being sold at home entertainment stores (which is what both Ultimate Electronics and pool are - home entertainment). Although I'm sure some chippy "purist" will come in and say that they should only be sold by mom and pop billiards stores since they "know" pool. Whatev.

Definately behind Diamond for any serious players.

GC is still the "standard"

whenever someone talks about a particular table they compare how it plays to a Gold Crown... for good reason, GC has been and will continue to be the industry standard

while "portability" is clearly a great feature for a tournament promoter using a casino or conference center as a venue where set up and tear down time relates directly to cost of production, "portability" has no value whatsoever to pool rooms or recreational owners

I have heard several pros express their preference for GC's over any other brand
