I got a memo from China that Sarah Rousey of USA has advanced to the next stage for Women's World 9 Ball Championship in China!

I believe Sarah is our lone fighter for USA.

Yes, but only Sarah's name was mentioned to have advancing from USA :(

Oh, I'm not sure of the format and it is possible not everyone had finished their first (qualifying) rounds... I hope that is the case.

And since you're a big fan, Yu Ram is out in two...

Yu Ram 2 & gone?!?! Holy $#@*! Congrats to Sarah, keep it going. I was kinda hoping Angel Paglia might get lucky, but she had a tough group.

Sarah had a great draw. First was Brittany Bryant from Canada, then play the winner of a Venezuelan & a Costa Rican.
 
Oh, got more good news.

I guess their format is remaining half from group of 8 will advance to the next stage. Sarah's won 2 consecutive rounds and Angel P, Monica W. and Vivian V. have won their first match but have not played yet. We may have all 4 advancing :)

Monica will get Veronique Menard or Liu Shin-Mei.

Vivian will get Julie Kelly or Iris Ranola.

Angel will get Zheng Xiaochun or Neslihan Gurel.
 
There were two brutal 1st round matchups. Gerda had to open with Allison & Karen Corr opened with Chieh-Yu Chou (2009 Amway Open winner).
 
The last group is a tough one

Thanks, Tbeaux. I guess it's just a spread of the opening draw but it isn't getting updated. Oh well, better than nothing. Everything I've seen is in Chinese so I can't even update it myself. I'm surprised there isn't a website for this tournament. I don't see anything about it on the WPA website either other than it is on their calendar, but there is no link or tab with information.

I really have come to the conclusion that pool generally is not very well promoted. This is a major event and everyone has to fish around the internet and rely on someone to find a link to the stream and post it on AZB. No commentary in English and I didn't even see a banner that showed the score or players names when I was watching last night. No updated brackets in English anywhere, etc. No info on daily session times. YADA YADA...

Line Kjorsvik lost 7-2 to Rubilen Amit and then had to play Xiaoting Pan and lost 7-1... :( That's brutal.

Guess I'll just cheer on Sarah Rousey too then!
