Go EARL

I spent the last two days watching/referee'n matches there. Earl has a range of emotions and it can go from laughing to frowning in .02 seconds...bottom line is in either case he's running out!! I thought chirping with the crowd during the Mika match might have been his demise but it was the opposite, the crowd was equally cheering for both players.

Point being...Im rootin' for Earl too

It's always fun to pull for a player in a tournament when they're on fire.

Hard to believe that Earl will be 50 years old next June.

Earl Strickland is in the house!

He is playing for the hotseat of one bracket at the Seminole $50,000 added mizerak event.

Next match is darrin Appleton tomorrow at 2 pm (set)

I like darrin - but we gotta root for EARL

Mark griffin,
CSI. - proud sponsor of Mr. Strickland

Good for Earl and good for you!

Earrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrl!

Strem starts at noon est today (SAT). Johnnyt

I guess that's when the stream starts, but I'm confused. Mark Griffin in his OP states Earl's match goes off at 2pm est. Is there someplace we can find the TV table matchups and times? I'm not seeing it on AZ's front page streaming list link that takes you to the Seminole URL.

And yup, count me in for my homeboy root. GO EARL!!! Take down little shrek! ;)

Either you love him or you dislike him, but he's always going to be Earl. :)

I say let him have his moment in glory today. There aren't too many pool players I know of that are heralded in a favorable light as they age, unlike golf, tennis, football, baseball, baskeball, and other sports celebrities.

In the words of Rodney Dangerfield, they get no respect, but today, just for today, I hope Earl enjoys the feeling of hitting 'em strong. There's nothing better for a pool player, no matter how old you are, to know you still got lightning in the jug.:)

Jennie,

Earl will be his own man and this tournament he is beating GREAT PLAYERS with SKILL!

Liking Darren but pulling for Earrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrl!

I think the last time Daz and Earl played was in the final of the U.S Bar Table Championship in Reno. Earl won.

That might be 2 pm Mark's time which is Two Hours Before EST.....

It is nice to see Earl has some fans pulling for him to get that almighty win. :)

I am disappointed, though, that the promoters of this tournament have not come forth with more media and press coverage.

The Carolinas Open didn't happen this year, but this tournament kind of took its place, I guess, in providing a great opportunity for players of all caliber to compete. Logistically speaking, it's close to the U.S. Open dates, and I wonder if that was a deterrent for some players to play in this event.

Interestingly, Dennis Hatch did not play in the U.S. Open but did play in this tournament. I kind of understand the reasoning in that he has a better chance to get in the money rounds in this great event.

I'd like to see Earl do well, but wouldn't it be a feather in the cap of Darren to score a back-to-back win?! Either way, I'm happy for both of them do play as well as they are.

Earl Strickland is the most accomplished 9 ball player in the history of the game. Many players dream and wish and hope to win a World Championship - Earl has climbed that mountain 5 times. Many players dream and wish and hope to win the U.S. Open - Earl has climbed that mountain 5 times. Sprinkle in countless pro tour titles, Mosconi Cups, his 10 racks for a million, and the fact that he puts more asses in the seats than anybody else - then IMO Earl can pretty much do what he wants and say what he wants because he did all of that and accomplished the impossible (more than once) without having to kiss anybody's ass along the way. Of course Earl gets emotional, of course he gets pissed off and angry, but that's just the burning fire of a champion that exists below the surface. That's what makes Earl great.

I spoke with Earl a couple of months ago about winning - and how he was able to win consistently for so many years. It all comes down to to the fact that Earl is one of the very best at what he does - and he holds himself and his game to that standard. Its a great thing to see him playing so well. Win or lose - it shows that he still has that fire.

Go Earl!

JAM, you said it exactly right... Earl feeds off the love, and cheers, it's in his personality.

imagine this, Earl strickland is a ferrari ok, but not any type of ferrari, a type that needs to much fuel, and fuel is love, look up to Earl and he will responde.

by the way can somebody tell me how many streams has been shown for Earl Strickland matches in this tournament? and if there is an archieve or not to watch if I missed one.

Thanks

Thats absolutely right, and you heard Mika Immonen in the U.S. Open final day after his loss, he said and I quote

"One day I will try to be the new Strickland" and Mika is a great champion, what does that tell you about Earl. legend? I think more than that

P.S. sorry for double posting.

Can't take anything away from Earl, that's for sure. He's accomplished some pool milestones with his titles.

The U.S. Open, though, when Earl won them only had 64 players, and for some reason, these U.S. Opens did not have the strong contingency of our international brethren of pool players of the 256-player fields of the U.S. Opens today. Still, a win is a win is a win.

The U.S. Open 2000 that Earl has won was a 256-player field FYI. I heard so from the director of U.S. Open himself

Really? That is good to know. The U.S. Opens that I saw were 64-player fields that were held in Barry Behrman's other pool room, pre-Q-Masters.

I did not know they had 256-player fields in 2000. Thanks for that pool tidbit. I love pool data like this. Greenies for you!:)

ON the stream, someone mentioned that Earl's match will be at 2 pm EST.... FWIW.
