Steve: you had a point. Alex has crossed the line and is now embarrassing the event.

From the rules:
6.16 Unsportsmanlike Conduct
The normal penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct is the same as for a serious foul, but the referee may impose a penalty depending on his judgment of the conduct. Among other penalties possible are a warning; a standard-foul penalty, which will count as part of a three-foul sequence if applicable; a serious-foul penalty; loss of a rack, set or match; ejection from the competition possibly with forfeiture of all prizes, trophies and standings points.
Dennis,
Is he trying to take the event seriously, but can't because he's drunk, or just making a total mockery of it?
Also, thanks for your updates this whole week. They've been great!

P.S. Got the disc you sent. Too afraid to watch it yet... but I will, and thanks.![]()

I didn't see this thread, I posted over in the forum..Alex being Alex. A very detailed Idea of the way things went by my opinion. Maybe the Mods can move it over here to this thread...I was pretty disgusted. He should have been warned, I think that's why Pat took the camera off of Alex while Darren was still playing Neils, in the SF. You could see them looking up at Alex from5 tables away where they were playing...Thanks for allowing me to vent

Sorry to all of you 14:1 huggers that you were robbed of the 1.5 hr. 125 ball yawnfest that could have been. I'm sure Alex won't look back on this moment and be proud, but do we have to throw him to the dogs so quickly. Do you think we could wait until his hangover has faded away before we send out the henchmen to collect the $7.00 you straight pool fans were robbed of?

Drunk and talking while Darren shooting, chaos, did what he wanted and they let him.
Rather then faulting Alex for being drunk and engaging in other unsportsmanlike conduct, we should be faulting the referrees for not doing their jobs and enforcing the rules.
If we do it next year, we will have to anticipate behavior like this and have warnings and rules in place including forfeiture of all prize monies, as Bob Jewett mentioned in another thread. While entertaining for those at the venue, it does not show much respect for our game or our event.
IMO, the time to penalize a player for unsportsmanlike conduct is during the match. After all, imposing a penalty during the match can alter the outcome significantly.DMG,
Good idea.
Another good idea would be to ban Alex from the event for 2 or 3 years. Allowing him to get away "scott free" seems a bad precedent.
According to Dennis:
"He (Bill) wanted to cancel the match because of Alex's behavior and people like Pat Fleming and Danny Diliberto told him he couldn't do it. There were about 400 people clamoring for the match and we left Bill in a bad spot."We're setting a bad precedent by letting Pat Fleming and Danny Diliberto overule the referree. There's no point in having rules in place if the Accu-stat producers are only interested in money and can arbitrarily overule the referree's decisions.
I'd like to hear Pat Fleming's and Danny Diliberto's side of this. Alex's conduct should have warranted a forfeiture. However, we cannot overlook the misconduct by Pat and Danny in looking the other way and allowing this to happen.I decided I would wait to hear Bill's side before posting.
