New Hollywood pool movie trailer released (actually really good)

Very cool. Buffulo's. JoeyA also made an appearance. JoeyA is now a famous movie star.

Anyone got a link to anything House Pictures related besides this movie?

When they asked Florian to do this, I decided to do a quick background search on the crew. I didn't like what I found and suggested he consider turning them down.

Florian's passion for pool made it nearly impossible for him to say no, and he opted to help out. Thankfully it looks like it will be a solid B movie. Pretty good stuff (especially by pool standards), and I look forward to watching the full release.

Can't wait to see that and a great name for a movie too. I better get down to that area soon ,there will be no talking to Joey after this comes out .

Not only does it look like this movie will be released, but its actually pretty decent too!

And best of all, Florian 'Venom' Kohler makes a notable appearance.

Did we just watch the same clip? That movie has every pool cliche and even has some drug use thrown in. Should make a parent really happy their kid wants to learn to play pool. Lets just hope no city commissioner or mayor who is voting the next day on a variance allowing a pool room in their town sees it. Crap like this movie has real world consequences on the sport and they often are not good. Of course that is just my opinion.

Of course that is just my opinion.

The best pool movies ever made were riddled with cliche, and yet they still *drastically* helped increase the popularity of the sport. It's undeniable.

This is the first quality pool production in nearly a decade. I prefer to stay optimistic and supportive. Cliche or not, I look forward to seeing this.

Looks like a cool pool movie. If it gets promoted mainstream and gets to thearters, it will for sure give pool a shot in the arm it has needed for a long time. Thanks for the info and trailer Nate. Johnnyt

Is that a BILLIARDS CUE he's screwing together??

You know, when he's not screwing the bevy of music video babes and doing endless lines of coke......

The Tom Cruise character of Vincent was not whacked out on drugs. It was never even implied. My comment was genuine. I actually had a city commissioner admit he had never been in a pool room. Another said he only knew what he had seen in the movies and on TV with all the gambling, drugs and fights. All these guys knew of pool was from shows like Beretta and that was about all it took to get turned down on a parking variance to open a place. They were already predisposed when I walked in. Movies like this just galvanize what is already a negative perception. Ask anyone who owns a poolroom and has to deal with the city in any way. You have two strikes against you right from the start. I don't want to be negative but that is just the way it is.

I forgot to add, my paper work read Family billiard center. They looked at it a sarcastically said, "You mean a pool room right"? There was no getting past their preconceived perceptions.

You're entitled to your opinion.

However this thread is supposed to be about the release of pool-related movie. If you really want to beat a dead horse about pools so-called 'negative image', then please do so in one of the other countless threads on the topic (not intended to sound rude).

I'd much rather discuss the movie itself, such as the people who worked on it, its release date, and how JoayA and Florian are enjoying their new-found fame. :D

It looks ok. I mean the trailer really is just a collection of some gritty looking scenes, mixed with a few campy set up trick shots(expected in a pool movie i guess). The production quality of the video portion itself looks pretty good and i like the soundtrack selection playing over the second half of the trailer, but its real hard to guess what the movies going to be like without hearing one word of dialogue and only some narration. I'd love some clips with some dialogue that hint at storyline without really giving any spoilers.

its definitely something i am going to watch regardless of how great or painful it may be to sit through. Based on the trailer it looks like its going to be a good watch. lets see some dialogue. most movies have more than one trailer. someone get editing. :)

Any idea when this will be released? Regardless, whether its good or not I'll go see it.

Agreed. As far as movies go, it's certainly not spectacular. However as far as pool goes, it's certainly well above the bar. Certainly better than I expected (which I admit, was not much at all).

The website doesn't seem to have much info.

You guys know about as much about this as I do. :p

If it ever gets to the theaters, I will probably see the movie but it will not do anything good for pool. From the teaser, it is showing the seedier side of the pool world and propogating all of the bad images associated with pool. Hopefully, the teaser is misleading and there is some kind of positive message in this movie.

help

Anybody have any idea why the link does not work for me?:(
I get just the progress bar at the bottom but no video.
What veiwer is being used?

"It is supposed to be about"?
This is a discussion board and my comments were directly related to the link you posted. Telling me to post to another thread because you don't agree with me was yes, rude. The thing is, you probably do agree with me and I know where you are coming from, we all would like to see a great pool movie. I have a feeling though from what they choose to use in the trailer this "straight to video effort" is most likely not it. We can only hope it is something better then the clip. Pool itself can't carry any movie it is just the backdrop to another story and it's portrayal often very bad, to fit a stereotype.

Mac,
I did notice the drug use, then noticed that following the drug use they showed the guy getting beaten up and stuffed in the trunk of his car - not really that glamorous.

Perhaps this will be a tale of drug use/catastrophe/subsequent redemption - maybe it will point out the perils of drug use...its possible. I will await the release before "passing judgment." I also will definitely see it.
