Earl tossed out of SBE...

No, no, no, that's not how it's done! Details schmetails. You're supposed to come on here and pick a side before you know the facts and rant and rave and shout and go stark-raving looney until there is spittle dribbling from your mouth!

Geez, get with the program party pooper!

Lol! True what was i thinking! lol!

Now thats funny right there.... But yet so true....

I'm sure the ref had Allen's blessings before he threw Earl out. I could see some of the old Earl coming back at the end of the Masters. Johnnyt

Do Earl & Allen have any history? None that I know of. Earl plays at Allen's event pretty much every year. I never heard of these two locking horns.

Real interesting thread.

:scratchhead:
Hmmmmm.

:idea2:
I know Earl wasn't happy when Allen won that $50K at the Challenge of Champions that year.

Five years ago on the final day of the Glass City Open Earl was outside the tournament room signing autographs and was in the best mood I had ever seen him. A father and his 9-10 year old son approached Earl for an autograph, it showed that they were star struck, genuine Earl fans.... He had just been called for a match and told the boy to meet him right here when the match was over and he would sign one for him. I was in the same spot after the match and the boy came back like Earl told him. Once Earl came back he was of course *****ing about losing. The kid and his dad waited a few minutes until he had calmed down and was being sociable and the kid politely asked him for the autograph. Earl went into outer orbit and started going off on the kid! Not the dad, the KID!!! The dad was dumbfounded and I don't think he knew what to say.... I went completely off the air on Earl and told him what a piece of sh*t he is and that the kid was just doing what he told him to do.... Earl did the same thing he did the other time I put him in his place, he tucked tail and ran.

Outside of Buddy, Earl is my favorite 9ball player to watch. Unlike Buddy, Earl has zero class and is a true jack*ff in every respect... Its high time everyone stop making excuses for him and just acknowledge that he's a time bomb and let the bomb squad (tournament director) dispose of him..... Good riddons, IMO.

That's telling it like it is. There will be plenty of people that disagree with this, I am not one of them. In fact I have a very similar story from the Open in '01 about this world class lune.

How he is allowed to get away with his behavior is a disgrace to the game. It's a wonderful thing when TDs or refs have the stones to call him on his BS. No one should be allowed to get away with what he does.

That might be bad news for Earl when he plays Shane. Many people were giving him a chance because he had been cool and easy going. All it's going to take is SVB hitting him with a package or two and Earl will lose it. I was hoping the match would be close. I guess we'll see next week.

I was there for the first incident where the ref clearly said, "this is you last warning!" after mentioning how he is NOT the only player there and he was disrespecting all the others who were trying to play their matches. That lecture received spontaneous applause from many spectators AND players.

I don't know what happened in the next match, but Earl was on 2, for sure, and he knew it.

Wow I'm glad I had my Doctor's appointment today and was planning to leave for the SBE a while ago. Now I can stay home and won't ever attend or exhibit at the SBE again! That guy is a piss poor excuse for a tournament director! He's had a vendetta against Earl for years and was just looking for any excuse, as ridiculous as it was, to eject Earl! Allen needs to re-think who he has directing his tournament. I don't see why he doesn't hire one of the professional directors like Ken Shuman or Scott Smith instead of using morons like this goof! Oh well I'll save a few grand that I would have spent there this year and no telling how much I'll save in the future by not going to or exhibiting at the SBE ever again! What a joke!

earl will not finish the svb match he will get mad and leave.....
I used to laugh when he got mad like everyone else. But now its old.
He is the Phil Hellmuth of pool.
He thinks that everyone is against him and the world owes him a favor! just my 2 cents

Ken Shuman or Scott Smith would be great!
AS FAR AS I KNOW, the Pro Player's Championship at VF is the ONLY tournament Frank D does. I've been there several times & I just don't care for his style. Took much ego & acting like HE'S the attraction.

I have absolutely no idea of what happened so I've no opinion on this particular incident but I do respectfully disagree with the idea of letting "the great ones" get preferential treatment. It is exactly this kind of stuff that needs to stop. This is the thought process behind stars being able to show up late for their match and getting a pass while lesser known players get forfeited. It's just not right that the rules don't apply evenly to everyone.

I was watching the live stream and it sounded to me like the director was laying for Earl and planning to kick him out of the tournament. I think the problem wasn't with Earl and other players, it was between Earl and the director.

The director was on the intercom making announcements during play. If that didn't shark any players then I doubt Earl talking did.

Unless it is outrageous behavior like Alex getting drunk at DCC then I'd rather see a great player shoot pool than a guy in a suit enforce a rule.

I don't know what happened at the SBE and I don't know this guy Frank either. But I do know Earl quite well. He has played in dozens of tournaments that I have directed. And I can't say it's always gone well between us, but we have reached some kind of mutual accord. He knows that I will penalize him if necessary, but first I will try to reason with him. That usually works, just like it did at the recent Masters. Let's just say that Earl requires special handling, more so than most other players. I accept that as part of my job.

I for one am glad to see Earl playing well again. He is the all time best imo, and it's been a true pleasure watching him when he's at his best. He is indeed a special case that can be a test for any TD who is trying to run a good event. But I know the spectators come out to see him play and so I will always try to rein him in and keep him on track if possible. What I've noticed is that if I can calm him down he usually plays well. And that's what people want to see, Earl at his best.

Love him or hate him, everyone wants to see him play. There has only been one other pool player who has tested me this way. His name was Ronnie Allen, also a crowd favorite but another erratic and often controversial personality. That's why I get the big bucks though :p. I wish!

I wish you could do some East Coast tourneys.

That's cool, sounds like you at least get him to play when otherwise he may have just blown up. I admire that. I guess i get where others come from for wanting him thrown out, but if you can get the guy to perform like he's supposed to then props to you.

Sounds like he has some personal demons that unfortunately show themselves at times in public. It's an emotional sport and if you have issues sometimes they will show i guess. Ha well there are a lot of crazy poolplayers out there earl is just the best crazy one lol!

You mean like the U.S. Open and the Masters?

AHHHHHH! You got me sleeping! Sorry buddy! I'm used to hearing you in the booth at Accu-Stats & seeing Scott on the floor!

Pardon me while I go konk my head into a pole.....

I could have wiggled a little & claimed a Joss Tour & the PPChampionship, maybe even a KF Cues event, but I gotta fess up. You got me!

Edited to add-PS-Check your rep note!

Earl's easy to put on tilt, everybody knows that. I think it's great to see Earl back...birds fly, fish swim, Earl's Earl!
:p

I just booted from chat because I was asking what Earl did to get booted. No one has answered that question. Then the mods called me a jacktard and told me to stfu. When I inquired about being called a jacktard (lol kinda funny) I got booted. Earl (god) if your out there, we love you and from what alot of us can gather, you did nothing to deserve getting booted. I feel bad for anyone with money on Earl.
Mods Suck it!

Just wanted to know what he did.
Is he getting his money back? Could you imagine trying to play at earls level while you have to walk on eggshells? Im sure the TD put Earl on tilt. By the sounds of it, the TD was waiting to pounce. Big peeing contest.
