What sayeth pool streamers and promoters. Can anyone get Shawn Putnam to man up and play Earl Strickland after his yap fest Sunday? Nothing I would love to see any more the Archer's caddy get a can of whoop ass opened on him and the smacketh layed down by The Pearl himself. :bash:

Come on Big Bubba Putnam step up and play the great Earl Strickland instead of running your mouth at a comentary booth! :yeah:

I would have loved to have heard all the stuff that was being said. But even on sunday the feed kept skipping and freezing up. I ask if anyone else was having that trouble everyone said theirs was fine. just my luck i quess.:(

Shawn was a little out of line as a commentator.

But Earl was ridiculous as a competitor.

While Johnny was running his 140, Earl was waving his arms, yapping to the crowd, complaining about how long Johnny was taking (he wasn't). He was sitting in his chair and jumping up when any ball rattled. Complaining about the pocket sizes by forming his arms into a "V". Then he talked and talked to the audience during his run, mainly complaining about how slow johnny was playing while "making me miserable".

I don't know why the ref or the sponsors would allow this behavior. Earl is an impolite player with terrible manners. Earl is not a gentleman or sportsman.

If you are truly a friend of Earl, why don't you suggest that he work on his sportsmanship? Earl should be a legend - instead, he's disrespected. He seems to know it too - yet, he keeps acting surprised people are rooting against him.

Earl will be Earl, that is what people pay to see with him. I'm not saying it's right but people can cry until they are blue in the face about sportsmanship, etc., I doubt he's gonna change for anyone, or if he's even capable of changing for that matter lol. Bottom line is all the pissers and moaners will pay to see him play the next time he matches up too, so if it's that bad save your money as it really don't matter to me. The Pearl Rocks!

If that's true, then he has to accept the criticism. Shawn just expressed criticism for that particular aspect of his demeanor. It was clear to me that Shawn viewed the distrations Earl was causing as a form of cheating, and he was vocal about it because of the chat room comments.

I have a couple of friends with A. D.D. They can either focus like a laser beam and shut out everything or be frustrated by the smallest distraction. Seems to me Earl has that issue. The earmuffs were a pretty obvious attempt to reduce outside stimulous.

There's not much you can do about it. I do have one friend who overcame it as far as pool goes, but it was a major thing.

No doubt there TATE, I definatly think some meds would help his issues lol. And in all seriousness I am really surprised he hasn't seen a doctor in regards to something. It is by no means a shame to have A.D.D or any other issue for that matter. Half the world is on prozak these days.

Half the world being on a dangerous drug does not make it safe. Anti-depressants are very dangerous, and don't work as well as a placebo sugar pill.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It would be kind of lopsided, don't ya think?

Despite the reasoning behind it, I find stream blow-outs boring to watch. ...........

(not if theres a good fight. mic um up!)

I don't know much about it Dave. I'm fortunate enough to be on the half that isn't on anything. Though sometimes I could probably use one lol, but I'm sure ANY drug in the long run is not good for people's bodies.

If that's Earl's problem, there's not much they can do for it. They might give them some very unpleasant stimulants (they work in reverse on ADD sufferers) and if something made Earl relax a little more, then that same thing might cause him to play bad pool. I think he's done the best with it he can at the table, he just needs to figure work on how to be calm when he's off the table. Adults who have ADD try all kinds of things to stop the mental distractions. Alcohol and drug use are very common.

My friend overcame his own focus issues by achieving a calming zen-like mental state. He can't easily turn it on, so he plays bad for awhile then shifts into laser-like focus and plays awesome pool.

Here's some info off an ADD website. Remember, people with ADD can also totally become absorbed by an activity. Earl uses it to his advantage on the table. This is just the behavior and emotional aspects - there's a lot more to it. I myself probably have a mild case of it.

Common adult ADD / ADHD symptoms: Impulsivity

If you suffer from symptoms in this category, you may have trouble inhibiting your behaviors, comments, and responses. You might act before thinking, or react without considering consequences. You may find yourself interrupting others, blurting out comments, and rushing through tasks without reading instructions. If you have impulse problems, being patient is extremely difficult. For better or for worse, you may go headlong into situations and find yourself in potentially risky circumstances. You may struggle with controlling impulses if you:

frequently interrupt others or talk over them
have poor self-control
blurt out thoughts that are rude or inappropriate without thinking
have addictive tendencies
act recklessly or spontaneously without regard for consequences
have trouble behaving in socially appropriate ways (such as sitting still during a long meeting)

Common adult ADD / ADHD symptoms: Emotional difficulties

Many adults with ADD/ADHD have a hard time managing their feelings, especially when it comes to emotions like anger or frustration. Common emotional symptoms of adult ADD/ADHD include:

sense of underachievement
doesn’t deal well with frustration
easily flustered and stressed out
irritability or mood swings
trouble staying motivated
hypersensitivity to criticism
short, often explosive, temper
low self-esteem and sense of insecurity

We'll have to mic up Earl if he goes to the doctor. Do you suppose he would be happy setting in the waiting room for the doctor to tell him he has issues LOL.

Good post above TATE, that is very informative on the subject.

Enough of this earlshit

Everyone should just ignore him and not give him any games/action. It's not worth the aggravation. Whoopee shit..he can play pool(he should cause that's all he does). He has a repulsive/repugnant nature. Anyone that gives him action should be shot(manner of speaking)
Man up to what?

No need to get your panties in a twist. Did you pay twice this weekend to see such a repulsive guy play that made you so angry lol?

Truth be told i would rather see his boorish behavior then just JA hitting balls.
I do believe he needs meds but they probably would make him less effective.
He was *****in about the table being to easy and even said he missed 2 shots that went in. You can't help watching him. Its like a train wreck. But it's fun.
BTW the safety play was the best part of that match.
