Photo is dated 8-10-1973 and is from the US Open Pocket Billiard Championships at Chicago Sheraton Hotel. Any guesses?

You're right but she sure looks a lot like a young Cher. Same face and body but Cher had a great voice as well.

Pete

Yeah but Palmer would have wiped the table with Cher. Palmer was a Brunswick player rep in the 70s and one of the original founders of what is now the WPBA.

I think she had a Palmer cue, and that looks like Palmer ring work in that picture, but perhaps Dave Gross will be kind enough to chime in.

Thanks

Kevin

This is definitely Palmer Byrd. I do not remember the cue, though, sorry. She was a very statuesque, beautiful woman who always played with a lot of class. She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She played pretty well, too. And yes, she was one of the founders of the WPBA w/Madeline Whitlow (Baby Face's wife).

Because of the announcement about Palmer's induction into the New England Hall of Fame, we were able to reconnect after at least 36 years. We played out of the same room, Cushion n' Cue in Oak Park, MI. We weren't close but were friends and played once in a while, but I was on the 3C side of the room and she was on the straight pool side of the room :). Palmer is still a beautiful woman but you're right, she has gained a little weight - hard to believe after 40 years and kids that that would happen ;).

Please excuse and spelling errors :).

Dave

p.s. by the way, Balukas was beating everyone at the time - she was awesome

She was nice and classy and good for pool.

I remember her Palmer, they were the coolest cues I knew of at the time, Charlie Conlon (the guy that whacked you for the Ann Arbor Nine Ball Championship) had one too.

OK, enough about her, get your butt over to the For Sale forum and drool over my Tads (please).

Thanks

I would say the cue is a Viking. When you blow up the picture you can see the long metal to metal joint like was used on Vikings. I think they called it their super joint.

something like this
