What do you think about about this pool halls name?

A friend of mine wanted to open a pool room and call it "Studdering Bobs Billiards".

Do you think that would be a socially acceptable name ?

Im sure you would probably offend some folks with it. But from a pool hall name standpoint.... its not that good of a name to begin with. :D

I personally don't really care for the name. It doesn't seem to have much to do with pool

How about Shark-A-Lotta-Shots Billiards? You can use it, I don't care.

Absolutely not. The name "Bob" is offensive to people suffering from dyslexia. I suppose the studderer offender Bob thinks that dyslexia is funny? How can you be sure that Bob is not boB?

May I suggest "Studdering Charlie Pull Hall" I see nothing wrong with that alternative and it's considtent in theme. Please show some sensitivity!

Always wanted to name one . . .

I always wanted to open a pool hall called Shaky Jake's Pool Hall. My name ain't Jake but I have learned long ago that the owner gets named after the business like it or not. When I bought JD's I answered to JD for years, easier than explaining. I always figured that "Shaky Jake" would make me a thousand or three a year just on the name come table time.

When I was a skinny kid...had a guy I was giving serious weight to get
all hostile on me...had about 50 pounds on me.

..so I told him my pool hall moniker was 'End Rail'...
..so he couldn't hit me.
...he started guffawing....and lost a few more hundred.

always thought End Rail would be a good pool hall name

Even if he spelled it right it is unlikely he will be granted a DBA with that name and for certain no sign on the building would ever be approved.. I doubt your friend has even tried to open a business, the number of hoops you have to jump through the name will be the least of his problems.

I only wish the people who have jokingly posted to this thread knew who they were offending. If anything, this thread should serve as sufficient evidence as to why it's a bad idea. Poolrooms (and most businesses for that matter) survive on maximizing their opportunities to make money. The name of your business should either have no impact or a positive impact on this. This proposed name, "Stuttering Bob", is taking a definite risk. You could be investing $10mm on the room, have the tables reclothed every Tuesday and have the lowest rates in the country and I can assure you, there will be people who will refuse to enter your establishment simply because of the name.

All I'm saying is, speech impediments are nothing to joke about. I wouldn't patronize a business that made idiots feel comfortable cracking jokes at the expense of MY FRIENDS. Just sayin'

Lighten up Francis. I'm fat and thats never kept me from going into Fat Bob's BBQ. If someone is that PC, maybe they shouldn't be going into a pool hall in the first place.
