Gus Szamboti cue on ebay

people are pissed that they weren't able to heist this guy out of his Gus?

then they call people nits and knockers?

So that means when you people go to garage (tag) sales and the person has a highly collectible XXXXXXXXXXXX that you know is woth 10g.. and he has 100 on it you guys all do the right thing and tell him?!?!?!?

I'll take that bet at 10:1 on everyone in this thread, maybe more.

Especially when there are like 20 threads on Pawn shops and how people went in there and paid the asking price knowing they stole it. So that's ok and getting a deal in another fashion is criminal?

Stop it before a crate with a hippo falls on your head...

Heist??

Heist him out of his cue? I don't think so..He is the one who originally priced "His" cue so nobody was trying to heist him out of anything..I would dare say that damn few of us walk up to a yard sale or whatever and see something we would love to have, and say, "Excuse me Sir, I would really like to pay the price you are asking for that, but it's way to cheap..Will you accept twice that for it." Come on!...The only one who benefits from posts about "other" peoples cues is the seller..It simply drives the price of the cues up when some well meaning AZ'er posts a link to a cue he has no interest in..If he sincerely had an interest in the item, do you think he would post that link..No way! Craig..Apology accepted!..

You see it that way, I see this conversation going down at the pool room if you had been able to close the deal:
"I bought this cue off of ebay for 4k. Brand new Gus!"
"Holy shiat, what a heist!"
"I know, right!"

I guess most of you are saying it's a real Gus. I could have completed this deal with Stew before this posting but he wanted payment up front before the cue is sent to Barry. I asked if the cue was not a real Gus, how would we proceed? He never answered. My suggestion to him was that I would wire the money next day to him if Barry validated the cue as a Gus with the LOA. I thought this was a good solution as Barry would have acted as a good escrow agent for us. If the cue was not a Gus (he would be responsible for the validation fee), we would have just cancel the ebay deal. Anyway, I guess we all have to wait to see the result of the validation and what he will decide to post the cue for now. It's would have been a great player's cue for me. :(

Regards,
Duc.

Looks like another broke AZ nit got involved and dropped in some info to the seller...... LOL

FYI..I never had any intention of bidding on or buying the cue, so it never really mattered to me who ended up with it.. I just saw the injustice in the whole thing..Now the guy thinks it's worth twice what it probably is..That's all!

"another broke AZ Nit" That's cool. All of you could have bought it sub $7k, you should have pulled the trigger especially the nit hater that knew it was legit.

If you think collectors and dealers squabbling over some collectible brings out the hate, you should see a long line of heirs fighting over mom's Tiffany lamp or some such.

Yummy me too.

Here's the real perspective.

Its just stuff.

You place too much hope and value on the stuff and sooner or later the stuff starts owning you.

Have a great one.

Whats wrong with getting a great deal on something??

Gus

HEY - He hasn't sold it yet. And it is still has not been verified. All you have to do is make him an offer. You might get it for $5000. when it dosn't sell. and pay to get it verified. I doubt anyone will put up $12000. with no verification.

He claims to have a LOA.Actually he has now changed that too. he said he had it, now he sys he will send it to Barry.
It might be real but now his price is to high. Could be a good deal at a much better price.

Wtf?

I think the point of the OP was to bring this cue to light among the knowledgable folks here on AZ. The last Szam. that sold on the bay was cracked and a fake. If it didn't look right or looked like a good deal, Manwon was simply putting it out there.

MHO is if you were in the seller's shoes and knew what you had but not a good idea of market value, you would want to be informed of fair market priceing. There is nothing wrong with paying fair prices for what you buy other than it might cut into your profit at resale time if the cue is flipped. I remember a few threads in recent history bashing another AZ member for flipping a new Szam not that long ago. It is what it is...if you want the cue, buy it on a risk, if you don't want to take the risk...that is on you.

This thread bothers me. The seller raises the price and forum members point fingers and start the name calling to other forum members. Fricken immature if you ask me.

First off we have no idea why he raised the price. Maybe he looked at some other autions for a similar stick. Maybe he got his hands on the blue book of billiards. Who knows.

If the people who wanted to get the stick would have clicked the buy it now button they would have it and you guys wouldn't sound like little kids who didn't get their ice cream.

I have given this some thought, and I retract my apology for starting this thread. I am tired of all the name calling and other bull shit accusations that some BIG MOUTHED members wish to make. I never contacted Barry or the ebay seller because I no intention of buying it. Now this is not because I am a broke Nit, in fact realistically I most likely have more money and live better than most of those making comments, money is not an issue I have even in todays economic situation.;)

I posted this thread because I thought that the cue was real, and I hoped that one of our members who could afford it would get a great deal at the original buy it now price. I was in no way trying screw up anyones deal, in fact obviously no one either knew the cue was listed or they also did not have the money to buy it now because that price stay listed for 3 day's after my post.

It is one thing to act like you have big pockets, and it is another to actually have big pockets so for those who want to continue to name call and be disrespectful let me help you out here. The games we all play are called Pool so if your going to Play Pool games you need to have some balls, with that said there was plenty of time to have jumped on that cue for anyone who was interested. All gamblers take risks based upon percentages and in this case the percentages were certainly in favor of that cue being a real Gus Szamboti.

Oh and by the way, if my comments disturb you then they also apply to you!!!!:)

Have a nice day!!!!:D

Thinkin the same thing!

You're the fool! He had a "Buy it Now"...you should have bought it THEN! His intial buy it now was a steal...but I guess you wanted to steal just a little bit more! lol

Yep, I have a Rosewood and a Ebony I made no calls or emails to him or Barry. If it sez no returns it is not a good thing for sure. It will be relisted as the price is way off now. Ron
