how would u play this... ive been getting sum people to play ... i have to give big spots.... my guess is i can only make 2 balls then stop shooting.....

That's the way I understand it too. Seems like it could be a workable spot with the right person. Advantage to you under most circumstances I believe...unless you get a really good player who understands the game well. You still can play some lock up safeties but you just wouldn't be able to run out the rack.

I think I like this concept....Ken

After u make ur 2nd ball ,does your opponent shoot are do u get to play safe after pocketing ur 2nd ball,if you get to shoot 1more time after making your 2nd ball, this spot isnt a very big problem for someone that moves very well, but there is 2 different ways to play this game,u r done shooting after you make ur 2nd ball or you have to play a safe after pocketing 2 balls,JJ tell me the rules that u play.

I'm not JJ but to me, two & stop means you stop after you make your 2nd ball in that inning and your opponent shoots. However, you can make any rules that you want as long as all agree to them. If you are feeling things out with your opponent for the right spot, you could start w/you cannot make more than two balls in a row (each inning) but you are allowed to play safe after the two ball run - virtually a 3 shot inning max (2 made balls and a safe). It's a much smaller spot if you get to play safe after the 2 ball run.

You are correct.
It's a good spot to give and get yourself in a trap. {Probably why your opponent asked for it}
Someone here will know the exact game as compared to spotting balls .
Off the top of my head , I think I would rather spot someone 8 to 4 than 2 and stop.
I think of it as opportunities at the table.
The best you can do is in 4 innings.
There are always unknown factors, if the guy that wants the spot will lose big, I might play him, if hes tight I wouldn't.
You can try it, but if your opponent
keeps breaking the balls wide open, he knows the best way to beat the game and I don't think most people could outrun it.

2 and stop is whenever you make a 2nd ball in a row ur done no extra shot to play safe. Thats the only ive seen it and its a very large spot.

Hmm, I don't know nuthin about that 2andstop thing, but I know that 3andstop means you have to stop shooting after you pocket your third ball without the option to play an additional safety. That is how the spot differs from 3andsafe. But I dunno about 2andstop. :D

I was actually hoping that you would chime in on this thread when I saw the title.

i like the idea o 2 and safe... after i make the 2nd ball i have a chance to make a safe shot

What would prevent your opponent from using an 8 Ball hard break or busting the stack wide open after your break?

I've seen Johnny Ross give Clearwater Bubba this spot numerous times. He played him both ways before as well.....

2 and stop means after you can shoot a maximum of 2 shots per inning, thats when u pocket the 1st shot, then on ur 2nd shot u may make one or safe it, or dog it...

2 and safe is just what it means, after your 2nd made ball u can play safe....

JJ, i'll try u some 2 and stop....Next time ur in Htown

Brent

The last time I saw Johnny play Bubba I believe it was 2 and safe. I believe you, but it's hard to believe that Johnny can get away with that....

You want to se how strong a game like this is, put a guy like Mr. Dick Mcmorran up against say frost and you'll see how much shooting is worth in one hole. Shooting is worth SO SO much. I mean it's almost unfathomable. I wouldn't even be surprised to see Mr. Mcmorran win playing 2 and stop to be honest. Then watch them play a couple of games straight up.

Great topic.
