no more free water at Hanks

I wonder if you could just save up your saliva for a couple of hours and then just take one good, thick swallow ???

Maniac (spends his "drink money" on Crown Royal ;))

Yesterday I was at Hanks playing with my friend Larry Lassiter (his last name is not Lassiter but his game has improved so much in the last year I started calling him that)so anyway he orders a burger and fries and asks for water. He thought because he ordered a meal he would get a glass of water. Oh no she brought him a bottle and charged him a buck. We both laughed at it, no big deal just a buck.

Hank should go up on all his other things by about a quarter and give the water than if that don't cover it up the table time.

In Arizona if you go into the poolroom and need a glass of water you get one, I believe its the law here because of the heat. Sometimes a homeless person will come in and help themselves to some water. I think personally paying a buck for a bottle of water or a cup of coffee is no big deal, a business owner should want people in there who spend money, tight asses are usually knockers/nits anyway who complain about everything. I love how guys stand around in the poolroom and talk about how there is nothing going on or no action but they wont play unless they are totally stealing.

I think what is wrong with pool is some of cheapskates in it who are negative and complain about everything and anything like a bunch of gossiping ladies. Do not get me wrong, I am not a big spender by any means but when I go play pool I usually spend 10-20 on food and drinks, about the price of taking yourself to a movie. I think people should support the game more, if you have it then dig into your pocket and support your local pool rooms and the game of pool because when the rooms are gone then pool is dead my friends.

At Hanks pool room in Denver they used to put out glasses and a pitcher of ice water for free. Now that is gone and there is a sign "Bottled Water" $1.00.
Any opnions on this?

I don't see a problem with them selling bottled water, just as long as they aren't bottling it themselves, lol:killingme::killingme::killingme::killingme:

Today a fairly regular customer of Hanks ordered some food and got a glass of water for free. When he asked for a refill he was told no. So he got mad and said he was never coming back.So a lost customer over a glass of water. I think they are taking this too far.

billard de l'eau

I think thats a great idea Norwood.

Vitamin water is also getting big.
You could call it Eight Ball Juice.

Later on today at Hanks 2 guys made a game for 20. One said post. And soon there were 40 bottles of water on the table.

Up here in Canada, we have Molson Canadian water.
Its mixed with some of the best prairie barley available.
A lot of the places are charging over $5 per bottle.
Can you believe that?

Why did your friend Larry (Lassiter ;)) have to pay for a bottle of water yesterday when he asked for a GLASS of water with his food and today this guy gets a free glass of water??? Hank must not like Larry too much, eh???

Maniac (thinking poor 'ol Hank must be stressing himself out over this water situation)

Not the Law but in the case of someone dying, or potentally dying from lack of H20 the right thing to do. Recall years ago heading to Wickenburg from home, and running across this family of people who were broke down on US 60. Gave them a Gallon of H2O as I alway have 2 or 3 in the car, and sent DPS Troopers to help.

Sorry I quit when I was ahead, but when the bet went to a case a game,
and you sent Phil across the street to the store, I knew it was bad action.

I don't even like water

Water

This is a funny thread. We charge 1.50 for a bottle of water, by the way, but it's a big bottle, really cold and refreshing, and has been known to make guys play like a champion:smile: You can get a glass of tap water for .25, or if you can't or don't want to pay the quarter, it's free. What do I care? I've got more to think about these days than losing customers over a glass of water. Do you think they have this argument at the golf course?

Actually it is the law in AZ that you are required to give someone off the street water for free. That came about because a homeless guy got refused water at a bar in Kingman in the summer and went out and croaked in the heat, according to the liquor licensing people at the liquor classes you get forced to take there.

however the law does not state you have to allow them to sit inside and drink it while enjoying free AC and cable tv. You can give them a plastic cup full of wretched PHX tap water and tell them to gtfo if they are not spending money. Or you can tell them "there's a hose on the back of the building in the alley" like one bar owner in the hood used to say.

hmm

I play leagues once a week and do not drink alcohol when I play so I have one of the waitresses bring me a large glass of water with two lemon slices. I tip her $2.00 she get's a tip, I get my water. Occasionally when leagues are over I may have one or two beers then I'm out of there on my way home. I don't see $1.00 for a bottle of water being bad at all and as another poster said you can always refill in the sink, if your that tight on money.. Some are these days and I feel sorry for those that are.. What we used to take for granted may not be the norm anymore, times are a changin!!

I"m with ya ! I can't drink when I play, but will have a beer after league is over. I order one Coke and nurse it till league is over.

Plus, we actually have a drinking fountain in the place anyways... but I'm not too fond of Lake Michigan water !!! I'd prefer if they sold bottled water and be glad to pay for it !!
