You know they say for fighters that sex is a no no during training .I was just curious and also want this thread taken seriously .How does sex and sex drive affect your pool game ? I have been dating a new girl and alot of people have said "Matt , you seem alot calmer " LOL . I have also noticed in practice I am playing alot better. Maybe she's a keeper ?? At this point I would say that pool is the opposite of being a fighter in training for me .I tend to have more focus and am alot more "at ease" when I have a healthy sex life .I also have a good friend who is a expert in alternative medicine and health .He says that having a healthy sex life is one of the best things for a man to have PERIOD.I even remember him telling me to leave a girl I was dating once because she was well......a bit crazy and he explained how bad this was for a mans over all well being and health.I listened .The lady I am with now is very supportive and caring .I sure hope everyone out there that has a good lady in there life appreciates just how important that is .I'm sure I will get ribbed a bit about this thread but hey !! It would be great to get some serious feedback as well. I am all for comedy too .:grin:
 
What's that bumper sticker? Sex is a misdemeanor, the more I miss the meaner I get.

A number of situations in your life will have an effect on your pool game:
  • your job
  • friction or tranquility with your significant other
  • what's going on with your social circle and your family

Getting laid is just 1 of those things

In all seriousness...Of course it affects your pool game, but it can be positive and negative...too much will affect it negatively...not enough will affect it negatively...you have to find that "happy medium" for your "happy place"...

If you want to prove this then in the interest of science you're going to have to test this theory. that means "handling it" on your own and then with your lady to figure out if there's a difference

Come on here, talking about how good it is and how much you are getting, how it's helping your pool game, your popularity and your health, crowing like barnyard rooster. Don't you think some of us might be just a wee bit jealous? :mad: dammit.

I always wondered if any of those guys around the pool room ever have any sex. Most seem scared of women and hide in the pool room in the company of men where the seem more comfortable.

I've been playing pool for 55 years and married for 47 years. The one thing I have learned is the stiffer the shaft the better you play and she stays happy also:thumbup:.

I think there is definitely a calming affect to it for a guy. However, I would suggest that the relationship itself and the positive effects it is having on your outlook and demeanor probably has more to do with things than the sex alone. I would suggest that if you were celibate but still really enjoyed the relationship, that you would still get the same effect.
 
Swearing off sex during training is old school and so is its negative physical effects on a competitor. Unless it keeps you up all night and breaks your training regimen, it's not a problem. It can be a great stress reliever and confidence builder.

All the other stuff that goes into making a relationship work...now that's a juggling act and can play with your mind. A distraction from your work keeps you mentally fresh and those around you smiling. :smile:

In my case pool seems to have the desired effect on my girlfriend. The sweet young thing you see here is a nurse in the Philippines. She knows zero about pool, other than I work on TV there. She loves to go to the poolroom with me and watch me play. God bless her because she will sit for hours quietly and enjoy the game. She wants to learn how to play, but she can barely hold a cue.

The good news though is that after a night of pool, she is anxious for some loving. Pool seems to have an aphrodisiac effect on her. Works for me! :thumbup2:
WOW, I had no idea the photo would be this big. She's only about 5' tall. Ha Ha

Wow Jay she is awesom and then some,no wonder u seem happy all the time,back to the thread,i believe if you are happy at home with your women it will make you do your best at everything you do(including playing pool)plus keep you happy and feeling good all the time(a happy women is a good thing for everybody!)how could you consantrate on playing pool if you were thinking all the time,man when is the next time my women is going to make love to me,not having enough SEX will raise your stress level and just plain out make a man not feel very good,when your love life is good and rite ,it gives you extra energe and just makes a man feel better about life and raises your testosterone level and believe me high test level is an awesome feeling for a man,TROY knows what i mean about the test levels i bet!

They did something with this on that espn show sports science. They sex starved a boxer and ran blood tests and physical tests. They then sent him home to his wife and ran the same tests the next day. The next day tests scored higher in all physical tests and his testosterone levels were higher on the blood tests.

when 30 Hotties start showing up to watch the Pool Finals like- Golf Basketball, Football,baseball , soccer. When they start Paying real Money out- The women will follow!!! Its all about the cash to the women hunting for rich husbands who play sports. But Men's Pro pool should have a following ( cheerleader types- I think there should be a women s Bikini league- but it will only work out in Flordia- where on any given day 300 bikini beach Hotties. Minnesota has bikini ice fishing though!!!!!! and I have spoken with many of these girls here, they like pool too. All it needs is sponsors. If they are willing to do this for the men. They get free dues ,cues and cases. because hundreds of men will follow. mark
