How many have you strung together?

If you're around Neal for any length of time you will find out that he doesn't play like he used to.

Neal: I don't play like I used to

Neal: I don't play as good as I used to

Neal: I used to play real good

Neal: I can't play like I used to

Neal: I used to beat everybody, but now I can't play like I used to

Me: You still play good

Neal: I don't play like I used to

Neal: I don't play as good as I used to

Neal: I used to play real good

Neal: I can't play like I used to

Neal: I used to beat everybody, but now I can't play like I used to

Me: You won the tournament

Neal: I don't play like I used to

Neal: I don't play as good as I used to

Neal: I used to play real good

Neal: I can't play like I used to

Neal: I used to beat everybody, but now I can't play like I used to

Neal: Do you want to buy my cue, I'm quitting the game

Me: Why is the cue so beat up?

Neal: I don't play like I used to

Neal: I don't play as good as I used to

Neal: I used to play real good

Neal: I can't play like I used to

Neal: I used to beat everybody, but now I can't play like I used to

yep same guy, lol!
he also claimed and hole in 1 and perfect 300 game bowling. he also ran 18 racks in a ring game In DC.
Playing the Driller in OKC back in about 93-94 for $2000 he fired the winning ball into the Drillers pocket. That one near sent me over the edge!

kinda hard too believe most of these post 6-7-10 packs lol but anyways this is mine

9-ball 5 pack
8-ball 4 pack
10-ball 3 pack but don.t play much 10-ball
14-1 don.t play it at all
banks 6 balls with out missing

Wasn't he also a pro baseball player?

I can't remember everything he has told me except, "I don't play as good as I used to"

8 ball: 5 on a barbox (APA race to 5...other guy breaks, runs down to the 8, misses, I run the set, zero innings). 3 on 9' GC a couple of times. On a diamond bar box, I broke and ran the last 3 racks of my match, then broke and ran two more on the same table playing fun games, broke and didn't make one, then broke and ran 2 more. Almost a 7 pack!!

9 ball: 4 on a barbox (against a well known amateur player in APA masters...I ran out the rest of my 8 ball game to make it 3-2, then a 4 pack of 9 ball.
4 on a 9' several times.

14.1: 37 haha...I don't play 14.1

3C: 4 lol! I just played last week for the first time.

First off, the odds of Earl running an 11 pack are very far from astronomical. However, the odds of ANYONE doing it at a certain time IS astronomical.

I can't help but get a chuckle out of those that think the claims in this thread,(with the obvious exception of one), are far fetched. Just because you haven't seen it, or can't do it, then you think no one else can either.

The big thing you are missing, is that this is about HIGH RUNS, not average runs. Just because someone has a good high run in no way means that their average runs are anywheres close to their high run.;) You play enough years, and at some point everything comes together just right, and you get a real good high run, provided you can play decent to start with.

Yea, let's say an A player's break and run percentage is 15%. That would make their likelihood of running 8 in a row .000026%. While that might seem quite low, it actually isn't that low when you spread it out over 20 years of play and hundreds of thousands of racks. Of course that isn't taking into accout the "oh shit I'm on a 6 pack" pressure that kicks in when you are on a high run.

It's actually 0.00000026. You missed a few zeros.

And yes, those are terrible odds... even if you played 100 years.

People naturally gravitate towards hyperbole.

Case in point:

My high run is a 12 pack on a barbox...

Incidentally, my high run was unfinished. The guy quit me...

Now, I feel pretty darn good when I do the occasional 5 or 6 pack...

Geez... for the most part, we have nothing but pros posting on this topic!!!

I'm happy if I can string two together and I'm a pretty strong 6. I guess to be a seven I better be able to string 5 together.

I like the guy that said "the fish was tttthhhhhiiiiiissssss big!"

Way to stoke your ego guys.

r,

Greg

c player / 5

I am a c player / 5 level

broke and ran 3 racks of 8 ball once on a bar box, Did not know I did it until guy I was playing told me.

broke and ran two 10 ball racks on gold crown and to the 7 ball the third rack for $2 a game with other people watching which cost me action and took some of my spots away.

Yeah, and you'll be a 6 before long if you keep that crap up.

No, its .000026% you take off 2 zeros to make it a percentage meaning that you will on average have 2.6 8 packs every 10 million breaks. after 20 years of play I would guess that most players would have at least a couple million breaks if they just play 9 ball. Of course, this is just going by statistics, I would bet that the higher your current package is, the odds of you running the next rack increases due to getting used to the table, break, and such.

.15 = 15%

.15 to the 8th power = .00000026

You don't take off any zeros.

Or do you?! My bad.

one day i got a few good breaks and fell into stroke and strung 7 racks together playing barbox 9 ball. i've done 3-4 a few times since but never 7 again.

i've never gotten past 3 in a row on a 9 footer though. breaking and running is rare for me and 2 packs even more so. it's not really that i dog it a lot i just don't get a shot after the break. or balls tie up in a way that i don't know how to break them up. if we're talking playing the ghost i've gotten up to 4 taking ball in hand after the break

to break it down

7 racks B&R on a barbox (using my mezz 314-combo) i did 4 with the WD700 shaft once too
3 racks B&R on a GC (using my gilbert)
4 racks B&R on a GC playing the ghost (thank you Bryan Mordt!!!)
64 ball run playing 14.1 (using my gilbert)
