Voluntary 5% to AZB.

Starting today I will send 5% of the final value that any of my for sale items in the WFS section close at. Not including the shipping cost.

I recommend that those of you who sell here as a way to supplement your income and fund your hobby do the same. To sell on Ebay incurs fees of up to 10% these days (welcome to corrrection if I am wrong). Most of us are already paying paypal 3% and AZB is getting nothing.

This is the premier marketplace on the web for pool related items in my opinion. Whether or not you agree it's clear that this is a good place to sell stuff.

So I am volunteering to spend a portion of my sales on keeping this market place open for those of us who would like to stay in touch with the customers through direct sale ads.

You can raise your prices slightly to pass the extra cost on to the buyers or you can absorb it. In any case you should give some jelly to AZB. It doesn't have to be 5%, could be 1% or 10% whatever you feel that this place is worth to you.

This last ten days in 2011 let's give something back to Mike and Jerry. I am about to put up about $2000 worth of cases and see if I can sell them in the next week and a half. I might not get the full $2k but whatever it brings I will ship 5% of it to Mike and Jerry.

I hope some of you decide to follow and show some support for this place in a little bit more of a concrete way. Please save the flaming. If you don't want to do it then don't. If you do then do whatever you feel comfortable with.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Good Day, Be Happy Don't Worry. :-)

John - Why not send AZ 5% from ALL the sales you have ever made because of AZ? Then keep doing it going forward as well.

Because I don't want to and see no reason to do that. But I will make a deal with the whole forum and come over the top with an all-in. If the top 20 sellers on here will send 5% of their sales for the last four years, the same time as I have been selling on AZB then I will do the same.

My record of sales is easy to find and make a list of. I don't erase the retail price and just to show that I am serious I will pay 5% OF the retail price even on the sales where I got less than full retail.

A New Suggestion.

Why not create another section on AZbilliards for the people who want to sell pool related products, and then keep the just cues for sale section seperate.I beleive it should just be for cues only, everything thing else goes in the pool related section.Cases, chalk, tips, tables, clothing, gloves, tips, and so on.And in the pool related section possibly charge 1%,cue section maybe 3%.this way the sport continue's to see growth,at the same time AZbilliards is making something in order to continue expanding this base.

If it's ok with you I wasn't starting this thread to discuss what AZB should do. None of us who sell can change anything on the site as to sections, moderation, how it runs, categories, etc....

All we can do is show our support and this is how I intend to show mine and invite others to do the same at whatever level they want to.

There is another thread running where people have been actively discussing what they would like to see regarding changes. This one is about being proactive to show Mike and Jerry that we value this marketplace.

Very classy and generous thing to do. Im sure everyone who use's this part of the forum could pitch in a little.

Not to stray from the original subject but I once thought it would be a good idea for a few people to get together and commission a cue to be built and the eventual proceeds go to AZB. A local friend of mine has started putting some cues together after several years of repair work and they are coming out quite nice. I will start it out by having a cue built locally and all of the profit when sold (on here hopefully) will go to AZB.

I'm confused, can you as a dealer even sell new items on the board after 1/1?

Where are you guys getting this 1/1 stuff. Jerry said in the new year, no date, Mike said they are still discussing it and nothing is changing for the time being.

I don't know if I will be able to sell new cases through the WFS section later or not. If not then not. If so then probably with additional rules in place.

Nice idea John

Back to the OP! Thats a great idea John, and pretty cool of you. (and a good call out on the top sellers). I don't sell anything on here, But if I did, or ever do I'll do the same. This is a great venue to buy or sell. I have almost stopped buying pool stuff on ebay because this is a better place to buy. When I do buy on ebay it's usually from koinkid anyway. I don't always agree with your views, but this one I do.

Thanks for filling me in on the details. The thread went to 13 pages in a day and I didn't follow it that closely since I don't really sell anything here, but reading Jerry's OP it seemed pretty cut and dried:

...So we are going to take it back to what it was always supposed to be. ONLY individuals with used merchandise for sale will be able to post there in the New Year. No new merchandise will be able to be sold there and certainly no mass marketing will be allowed to continue.

All businesses who are currently working off of that forum should make appropriate plans. Any who are interested in continuing their presence on AZB should contact our advertising department via email: jerry@azbilliards.com

Since the new year starts on 1/1 that's where many of us got the idea.

But in any event I appreciate the additional info. BTW, since I'm not fighting for shelf space in that forum I kind of like being able to see all the offerings from dealers and I'm not so sure I care for the changes, and I'm kind of glad to hear nothing drastic is happening immediately.

Because you can't artificially inflate past prices like you can future prices, by oooooooh, let's say, about 5%.

Does that matter? People pass fees on to the customers all the time. It's called overhead. Yet I have NEVER charged my customers for paypal or credit card fees.

Do you want to bet something that I won't inflate my prices? Did you find that perfect tip tool yet for getting the ferrule flat? Good luck finding it now. Just when I was going to be nice and tell you what it is and where to get it. If you hunt through my past posts you can find it. I'd give you a link but I think you're resourceful and can find it with a little effort.

Nice to see that you are following me around like a lost puppy. You flame more than the Village People.

Going to keep a running total in this post. Then I can send AZ one payment instead of a bunch of smaller ones.

First Sale: $150 - $7.50 to AZB
Second Sale $160 - $8 to AZB (case sold wholesale to a dealer but as promised 5% of the retail price to AZ)

Last time I checked my business 101 handbook, incorporating any new cost of doing business does not constitute "artificially inflating" a price.

IMO that is a pretty crummy post meant to slam someone who is actually offering a stopgap solution to the issue presented in another post.

To quote the 'Psychiatrist' episode of Fawlty Towers, there is enough material there for an entire conference.

I think it's tucked away at the back somewhere, under the heading "passing your costs directly onto unsuspecting customers", next to the one called "shamelessly promoting yourself in order to win market share", and under "constantly bigging yourself up to look good to the gullible and easily impressed".

Good book!

Don't sweat it. This guy flames more than Liberace.

To JB, nice gesture.

But there isn't anything for sale here.

Could this possibly be edited and posted with a link to the Main Forum so as not to cause the guys who are trying to buy and sell stuff here to have their threads drop further down the pages?

BTW, I thought the same thing when Jerry posted about upcoming changes to the forum that went on for many pages but, alas, he owns AZ and was alerting us to changes to this forum.

Thanks.

Best,
Brian kc
