Wanted/For Sale Section to Change in New Year

AZBilliards is going to be making changes to the Wanted/For Sale forum section. This section was intended to be a place for individuals to sell their personal items. When an individual got a new cue they could sell their old one on our forums. It was intended to be a service for our readers.

But it has become a section that continually bites us and the advertisers who support the very existence of AZB.

So we are going to take it back to what it was always supposed to be. ONLY individuals with used merchandise for sale will be able to post there in the New Year. No new merchandise will be able to be sold there and certainly no mass marketing will be allowed to continue.

All businesses who are currently working off of that forum should make appropriate plans. Any who are interested in continuing their presence on AZB should contact our advertising department via email: jerry@azbilliards.com

This ought to raise a few eyebrows!!!!!!!!!

Yes, but I can see the point behind it. Seems they are starting to run this more like a buisiness, which is a good thing. Looks like dealers and cue makers will still be able to to do business here but will have to work out advertising with AZB.
In the long run I think it will be better this way.

Jerry,

What will happen to the Raffle/eBay section???

Thanks,

Russ...

O.K., so I'm no dealer. I don't have a business, nor do I purchase anything new
at wholesale prices, or anything like that. I just took a new cue in on a trade. My
only options now are to either not to sell it here, or advertise it as used. Is this
correct? Again, I'm not against this move here at all, nor am I complaining, but if
I decide to sell this cue, I just don't want to post it up incorrectly, and have the
thread deleted. Thanks.

I think its a great idea!

But in fairness to cue-makers seems like they should start a section for Cue- Makers only (not retail store type sellers and re sellers) to sell their goods. I for one like being able to deal with such a great pool of talented cue makers in one place.

Possibly another section that the re sellers could pay to advertise in to have their wares seen? Not so much doing away with anyone or anything as just re configuring whats going on. I would have to say it is hard when you want to sell something and your items on the 4th page in a matter of a few hours because of the endless bumps from re sellers. Anyway hope it works out well for us all.

I am sure that this will spawn new advertising verbiage like

"Nearly New" Cue has been held and stroked but has never touched a ball......

Gottya Bill, that makes sense. It's been owned by 2 people, but never hit with.
LOL, That's gonna be rare. If I decide to sell, I think I'll just test hit it a few times,
and put it up as that. Thanks.

As a private individual, am I still allowed to sell multiple cues. My 5 year plan is to buy and sell and trade my way to having about 8 "dream" cues. I am half way there, but if I can no longer list on here, it would make a massive dent in my plan...

I believe you will be OK as I understand it.

The purpose for the change I believe is there are lots of cue dealers,
both with their own sites, and those trunk monkeys, er merchants who
have been profiting (and profiteering) on here for a long time at the
expense of the merchants WHO PAY AZB TO ADVERTISE.

Hopefully this will keep the private individual who posts something
for sale here from watching his thread go to page 7 within a matter
of a couple of hours.

My suggestion for what it's worth is sub forums based upon price. 0-500, 500-1000, 1000 and up.

This thing where we all flock to discuss changes after they have been made is a bit fruitless. Clearly if the mods were interested in the community's input in their changes, they would open the matter to discussion before they decided. That's not the way it happens here at AZ. Here the change is discussed behind closed doors and then announced to the community. Obviously, this is a stylistic choice in management the people that own AZ are free to make.

Thanks

Kevin

I think they want some feedback, otherwise they would just post a closed thread, or notice. Unless it is to prevent their mailboxes from blowing up?

I look forward to not seeing threads on new $60.00 Taiwan cues and cue balls. I don't look forward to missing up and coming cue makers who have found a great way to share their talents with the billiards community. Hopefully a section is made for them.

custom cue makers

I totally agree, please be sure to make a home for the cue makers. This has been my source to see alot of quality cues and even purchase a few that otherwise would not be available.
