I think it's a great location. You do realize the casino helps to sponsor it as well right? Action is there just don't flash it around like a moron and your fine.

Seen plenty of high dollar matches last 2 years.

I'll be there.
 
I'll be there, but I must admit I've felt the bad vibes this year. I've heard quite a few saying they are giving the event up. I hope it goes well and there is plenty of action!

I don't know about you all but I can't wait. I know that everyone seems to complain about the location, but I still have a great time. How can you not when you are away from your wife and kids for a few days :) Hope she didn't see that. Seriously though I think that there will be plenty of action every night and the tournament action is always fun to watch. Can't wait to sweat some on the side rail as I don't get into the action myself.

I usually stay at the Holiday Inn Express in New Albany. Free breakfast, good service and clean. There's also a couple of fairly good restaurants in town as well as the Waffle House and the regular fast food stuff.

If I were to gamble big money in pool, I would certainly choose the Horse Shoe Casino over the Executive West. The reason is very simple: SECURITY.

As mentioned, if you are going to gamble, just don't flash money around and rub it in the Gaming Commissions Officer's face. It's their job to enforce the gaming code. Respect their jobs and they will usually leave us alone.

Fred, it's a good idea to pass out the voting cards for the Louie Roberts Award to the attendees. That's one benefit of being there in person and sweat all the good money matches, the ability to vote for your favorite player.

It's a nice, clean place.

I stayed there 1 night last year because of the room problem with the casino.
 
I will be there the 20th-28th. I am not a good enough player to even match up with good players, let alone champions. I will entertain games with other horrible-to-mediocre players.

I know a lot of players will call BS, but I have never placed in a regional event, either Amateur or Open, and the one game I made two years ago at Derby, I went off for a couple of hundred to a nobody. Ask JCIN, he will confirm. :-(

But I keep on getting back up on that horse, ya know?

I will be there both weekends most likely. While I concur with many others over the new location, nonetheless, I am absolutely stoked about going this year. I made the same plan last year but failed to make it back the second weekend because I just wasn't in to it for some reason...The Ex West spoiled me I guess...now whats that old saying...uuhhmmm...oh, all are good but some are better than others!!?? :thumbup:

Well Russ, being a fellow bad player I will try to accomodate you in your quest for pool action. Me and my 278 dollar bankroll will be there the last few days of the event, that should give you some time to spool up. I will try you some 9 or 10 ball so we can get the real feel of Derby action.

I have many references to my lack of pool playing prowess, a couple of which have posted on this very thread. Although I play worse than most I do like to gamble a little and would be happy to put most of my $278 in action with you should the opportunity present itself.

I will be heading up on Wed morning. I am pretty easy to find if you know JoeyA or Fred or Ky Boy, or Michael Hoang or Sunnyday or Bucknut or 1on1pooltourneys.........you get the idea, tell 'em to point you in my direction.

I'm a very far below average player (under C player) and Ktown is maybe a ball or two over me. Several balls over me when I've had too much cherry 'shine! He is good action and a good guy.

ok...if I know D and you, cleary, know D...does that mean that I know you??:) uh...uh...anyway, cleary...I offered to play you some last year I think...or maybe year before...I can't remember! I still play bad enough to make you the favorite in that game if ya wanna play a little!!;)

Ktown...you know this economy is tough right now....so, please stop braggin about your bank roll....people get mugged for lettuce like that!! 2cecils, a grant, jackson, lincoln, and 3 george's...you sure got alot of friends.

the last 3 days

Was thinking about going the last three days .What is the best way to get to the Casino from the airport and what hotel is cheap in between the two ??
Will be nice to see some of you. I too liked the old location at the hotel the best but hey if I get to see some good matches and hang out with some friends it will be a good trip.:thumbup:
 
Is there a link to the schedule of events? Is there a cover charge to just go watch even after hours? Is it cheaper to play in an event and get a players pass? Just wondering.:)
